This was the goal that's celebration was deemed to cocky.

Yeah I don't really see the harm in it either? Apparently Fergie dropped him for it.

It seems to me like he celebrates it as a goal for himself, rather than the team. If fergie did drop him for it then its because he was thinking of himself instead of the team, or it looked like that anyway. nothing wrong with it to be honest.

Yet some posters told us he was an arrogant so-and-so due to how he celebrated his goals. I wish I could find the posts, but I couldn't.

I have to admit I felt some of his early "Usain Bolt" celebrations were far too "look at me, Im great" instead of showing joy of scoring for the club for the stage of progression he was at at the time.

He hasnt celebrated like that in a while anyways.

Think it was Scholesy, during his justification for why he, and I quote, "hates" Welbeck.

Edit, maybe I'm doing Scholesy an injustice (though I'm sure he deserves it for other crap he's written)... looks like it was essentially Moultz and Phelan's Shorts.
Scholesy did have some typically absurd problem with Welbeck, and I think it had to do with perceived arrogance.

I thought it was Scholesy too, but didn't find any quotes. These are great though:

i personally cant fecking stand Welbeck.
same, and I know some other caftards do but know everyone will jump on there backs if they say it.

Aye, Fergie dropping a player after a game in which he scored because of how he celebrated the goal. Seems likely.

I don't know about dropping, as it was a long time ago, but I remember Fergie having the odd issue with how Lee Sharpe celebrated goals.

Welbeck was 18 and he got a sub appearance in a cup game. Do people really believe that he dropped him because of celebration?

Chelsea celebrations with wise, Zola etc were cringeworthy

I don't think united ever did that as we spent our time preparing for football matches!

Does anyone remember a goal sparky scored at the beginning of the 90s against Wimbledon and he celebrated by picking the ball out of the net, running back to the centre circle and slapping the Wimbledon players on the back of the head

That interview on the last page is a great read, makes me even more confident that he'll be with us as long as we keep offering him new deals, he's a genuine red.

Also made me chuckle to think of Scholesy's comments about his interview technique.

I hate choroeographed goal crlebrations but I always liked Sharpe's. And corner flag celebrations in general. Tim Cahill's is good and who can forget Roger Milla?

I think Jimmy Bullard's "team talk" celebration deserves a mention.

I must admit I was surprised to see him start after SAFs comments following the Chelsea game and he had been playing below par.

Today he has been back to his best and has arguably been our best player.

Some of his play was outstanding today, as he gets a bit older and more experienced I think he has what it takes to be one of the best strikers in Europe.

worked his socks off today. Thought he should come off around the 70th minute as he was working so hard and things were just starting to come undone for him but cant argue with him staying on either.

Rooney wasnt too pleased with him near end for a few things.

He was excellent, proper centre forward stuff. Seemed to me like he was knackered at around the 70 mins mark, should've been subbed off IMHO. Still chased everything, mind.

Love him to bits.
