Cole looks 2.5 years younger in the video above, that's for sure.

On a side note, only just realised Welbeck was rejected by City before he joined United. Hehehe.

Obviously it doesn't matter one bit, but I do wonder about Welbeck and Smalling.....

Obviously not together... but they both have a very "affected" speech...

his movement off the ball is very good, i think players like carrick and scholes loves having a player like danny to aim for..

I think you need to wake up mate. He's quality and it's obvious.

Indeed. I always questioned whether he would make it here, even up until this season despite watching him in the Ressies regularly on before his Sunderland loan. When he came back this season from the outset it looked like he'd trained on and I don't have a doubt about him making it here now. He's set to be here for a long time now and I'm expecting 20 goals from him next season.

I'm impressed by the quality of his first touch.I'm specifically talking about when he receives on the ground, in one movement he can create some space. His general game is improving

How you figure?

His speed and quick touches, his movement and power. Welbeck seems like the prototypical forward to me. He's big and strong but also very fast, with great touch and vision, with a powerful kick and a good off foot.

He's decisive and doesn't seek to over-elaborate on chances, but he's also at home playing the ball on the ground during build up play. Eto'o doesn't head the ball much, but then Barca never put in many crosses when he was there.

Just a thought, maybe I'm way off.

He's nearer an Henry with better heading ability;)

Welbeck-Rooney can be our best strike partnership in a long time. Some lovely interchanges, and a nice understanding that develops with each game. Feels good.

You're an idiot.

I suspect a couple of our players might be gay, welcome to 2012. It really isn't that big a deal if they are.

I'm assuming your talking about the way they talk when there isn't a cock in their mouth? ...

That would be their business alone in 2012.

Indeed it would and I wasn't judging him for it but you have to admit they both have the classic "affected" sound to their voices. Type "is Chris Smalling" into Facebook and the second result that pops up is "Is Chris Smalling Gay" so I'm guessing I'm not the only one to have noticed it. Guess what the first result for "Is Danny Welbeck"....

There's two reasons for someone to be concerned about other people's sexual orientation: if they are homophobes or if they simply fancy them.

Yes, those are the only two reasons for someone to speculate about someone's orientation.

Are you 12 years old?

He's not camp in the slightest. It's called a Mancunian accent.

This thread's taking a rather lurid tone. Can we stick with football and discuss poofs in the general thread

Tell me another then. But in the general, because this thread should be about how amazing a player he is.

While I agree, i think you shouldn't take it seriously and let some indulge in some post match tongue-in-cheek banter seeing as we won

He's our best striker, on form, at the moment.

If he keeps progressing at the rate he has been, he'll be one of the best around.

Fergie was right.... again.

Smalling is going out with one of my mates cousins, hes met him a few times, hes even given him a pair of free trainers for christmas.

Hes not gay.

Fair enough. Like I said, it doesn't matter either way. Just wondered. (Which makes me either a homophobe or a homosexual btw)

Cheep bastard giving free trainers for Christmas though!

Purely based on the way they talk? Taking the piss, surely.

Indeed, it's well known that no gay man has ever entered into a relationship with a woman.

So erm yeah, Dannys been my fav player this season. Cant wait to see Cleverley back cos you could see the understanding was there between the two as well in the early games of the season.

Haha, dont think it was a direct gift from himself, think he just asked his girlfriend if my mate wanted them. Nice pair of trainers though.

Fair enough, but to the original point. Smalling is obviously not gay, and has a girlfriend, just point I was trying to make.

I m still not fully convinced, but he s improving all the time. If continues like that, he has the chance to be a hell of a player.

Not convinced about what exactly? I'm not sure what else he could do. Obviously he's far from the finished article but he's only 21 and it's his first proper season with the first team squad.

I've been absolutely delighted with him this season.

I'm always on pins when I see him sprinting full speed though...

Away from the discussion on Welbeck's sexuality ( feck's sake), I'm just glad that we have a young player coming through who looks the part, not just to us with our red-tinted specs on, but to any neautral with the slightest degree of footballing sense.

On the gay issue. Why have some said "He can't be guy, he's got a girlfriend." or words to that effect? Michael barrymore was married. Elton John was a known womaniser. Same goes for the gay lads out of Westlife and Boyzone.
