Dani Alves

Honestly, with Alves it's just hard to expect. He just said that he received an offer from Italy and would like to play for Milan. I just can't see them paying him his demanded fees or him thriving there.
Says in the Sunday Times that Juve want to sign him on a 3 year deal.

Barca are on the right track with this one. Clubs should have the scouting and research ability to know which player is going to rise to the next level in the near term, whereas transfer muppets on the internet gravitate to the few names they already know.

To be fair, most La Liga fans saw Vidal rising as the next top RB. He was performing on a gradually high level with Almeria and this season in particular with Sevilla. Our domestic transfers though to do have a pretty good success rate. So we got props on that.

Yeah, I can see that working out much better than Milan.

Vidal may or may not work out. He's been one of Sevilla's most impressive performers as they fought for a CL spot in the league and then won the Europa League. In our league it would be like if Spurs had a great season pushing us to the wire for 4th, won the Europa League and Danny Rose (with less experience at LB) had been great during it.

He's also a risk in that he has played little RB before this season (when he still played backup minutes there behind Coke all in all) from what I understand. Going forward he's got wonderful stuff, but we'll see if his defending and passing are consistent enough to really help Barca or get him exposed in Classicos and the CL knockouts.

I guess people doubted Alves' defensive bonafides even after he signed for Barca, but that doesn't mean Vidal will get there.

Vidal is old enough to be expected and ready to perform immediately but I think he'd be best off backing up Alves and playing lots of Copa Del Rey and weaker league games and training with Barca for another season before starting. Instead, he can't play until January (the ban) and then he'll have to perform immediately. I guess Barca must trust Montoya and that other young RB option they have. But they only beat Madrid by 2 points this year. Seems a risk for a side without other holes to plug. If Alves will sign for another year, even at a high price, I think Barca are mad not to do it.

So he wont be able to play until January? surely they will loan him out for 6 months then.

Looks like he'll snub us for AC.

How depressing... And odd from him, must not fancy England.

No, he wants to chill out in the serie A and play till 40 at RB like Cafu.....way less pressure for him down there as he nears the end of his career.

Ac Milan is not a club to go to if one is ambitious, this isn't the 90's.

Players that age are usually after a last big pay day. If he goes to Milan, I'm not so sure there is an offer on the table from us.

Not to sure where you get that impression.

All he's said is that it would be a ''pleasure to play for AC Milan'' when asked if you would join Milan. He's hardly going to say well actually the not really Milan are a bit shite at the moment. His agent has also said they have had other offers as well (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/manchester...-clubs-confirms-agent-dinorah-santana-1505065).

Still think all of this is a bit pointless as I can't see him leaving Barca.

Given they've signed a RB, have Montoya and Douglas as cover and this;

"I've got a foot out [of Barcelona], a body out, and almost a head out, too,"

Never mind the fact that almost all well known Spanish sources have openly stated he will leave, the fact that contract negotiations went terribly and have totally stalled.

Frankly I'm not sure where you're getting the impression he'll stay.

As for AC that's where most chatter is in the media, simple really.

Yeah, that's why I find it odd. If you don't wanna compete then just follow Xavi to Qatar or the States, if it's a just a payday in the sun he's after.

With Bayern looking likely to buy Darmian we need to get Alves otherwise it's Valencia at RB again next season.

Well damn, news about him possibly renewing today! Seems like Bartomeu, who will resign today, is willing to do whatever it takes to raise his election stock.

I was against the Alves move, mostly because he's due to lose pace in the coming season or 2 and the fact that he's a dick but the thought of Tony.V playing another entire season as RB pains me.

Alves seems play a lot of games every year, surely him and Rafael could hold down the spot?

PSG did the right thing a few weeks ago by saying he was staying with Barca. Was always going to sign a new contract.
