I love him. This is my favourite transfer of the summer. He'll be a very good player for us, in my opinion. His technique is very solid, as is his ability to read the game, and of course tactically he is versatile. He's also the kind of player who will relish being at our club.

Have we just bought a John O'Shea good utility player here or can someone give me some meat on the bone as I only seen him in the WC......

He can actually choose if he wants to play in defence or midfield for us, will be the best player in both positions bar Herrera and Di Maria!

Think he'll play midfield but effectively be the 3rd center back for us. Now van Gaal has his two ball playing center backs sorted out if rojo plays in the middle and shaw returns at left full back.

I expect he'll be slotting straight in to Fletcher's spot. It will be a huge upgrade too which is a sad thing to say but Fletch just can't hack it any more. When Carrick comes back he will still be a good option to have and will play many games. The kind of squad player we need. It's sort of been forgotten in recent years that squad players at United still have to actually benefit the team, not just be players that aren't good enough to merit a start. Having players like him around will be a huge upgrade on the likes of Anderson.

Football manager says he can play right back too and has 20 versatility so there's that! Seriously though it's always great to have players like him, intelligent players who can play anywhere, especially if there main position is midfield for us too.

This is a signing we badly need, looking forward to see he and Herrera running the CM.

Rojo can cover both CB and LWB or LB, Blind can play CDM, LB and LWB and then there's Shaw as a LWB. We started this window with a very weak left side but van Gaal has got it pretty much covered now.

Shame we're so thin on the right. An injury to Rafael means we have to shove Valencia, Jones or Smalling there.

How different will our team look after the break? Di Maria, Blind, Herrera, Shaw, Rafael and Rojo all most likely starting together. I really hope we see an improvement.

His agent has said: "It's one of the biggest clubs in the world, so you can not say I want this or that. But Daley shall play in the starting eleven, as a controlling defensive midfielder. After that it is up to the player to see that it stays like that."

Too true - these injuries & work permit issues show how far our squad ahs fallen.

Really good price since reports were saying that Ajax wouldn't accept anything under £20m for him earlier this week.

BBC Reporter: "What does Daley Blind bring to you?"
LVG : "He brings a multiple functional player. He can play multiple positions. He's a good player. He can read the game very good and I hope he can contribute to the team results. That's the most important thing."

The fact that he celebrated coming to us has made me instantly like him. To be honest it would be nice if we signed a top top midfielder but if we don't I think we have done fantastic business this summer we just need everyone fit and to sort the passing style out and we will see things come together.

Daley Blind reminds me of a Barcelona-style midfielder. Thought this each time I have seen him. Very happy with this one.

Looks like we will be going with Blind and Herrera in CM. Are we happy with that?

(of course, Strootman is expected to be signed in 6-12 months, but cross that bridge when it comes to it)

Now that we are selling Cleverley this signing does make sense. I hope he is upgrade on him(he is yet to prove himself),it's just few million more than we are getting for Cleverley so I am pleased with this signing, especially because he is more defensive oriented so we can pair him with our other midfielders and not like Cleverley(even though I like him, and I thought he could be a squad player here) who could theoretically be paired just with Carrick, Jones&Fletcher(last two were far from great options, so actually only good pairing with Cleverley was that one with Carrick).
I am not expecting too much from him, but he seems like a tidy player who could improve us defensively when Carrick isn't available, and he is still very young, plus van Gaal knows him very well, so let's see what he can do.

Read somewhere that either last season or in 12/13 (can't recall which) Ajax averaged 2.4 points per match when Blind played in midfield and 1.5 when he didn't.

He must have been waiting all summer for our bid. Finally it comes 2 days before transfer window shuts. No wonder he's celebrating.
