I know. I'm just being facetious.

Aye, no probs.

To be optimistic about the deal, he could turn into a very useful player similar to what Carrick became. (If he reaches Carrick levels then he'll be a brilliant buy).
Not someone who steals the headlines, just goes about his business under the radar, knitting things together and providing the platform for the likes of di Maria and Herrera etc.

i don't know how I feel about this, I like his versatility but he's not mobile and aggressive enough from what I've seen, which isn't much tbh, hopefully he proves me wrong.

To be fair, does he need to be mobile? If he's to play DM then he should be fine. Let's wait and see before we judge. Not too long ago people said similar things of Strootman

Carrick isn't exactly mobile or aggresive and yet he has been consistently one of the best players at the club for over 5 years now. Not trying to make a direct comparison here with Carrick but intelligence and positioning are important as well. Otherwise players like Lee Cattermole would have been considered world class.

I'm quite optimistic about him, particularly as LvG has worked with him so knows what he can do. Now Burnley will stuff us and extinguish any optimism we have.

Note to Woodward: Announce signings after matches. It's a good way of burying bad news.

For us to be a world force again we will have to upgrade not only our starting 11 but also our bench. I believe worst case scenario Blind would be a good squad player. Looking forward to him joining us.

Delighted to see this type of signing and Rojo. Its been a fabulous transfer window. 5 players the manager wants. And early in his reign so he can lay down his blueprint with players he has picked. while also moving on the sort of players that have seen us stagnate the last few years. Its brilliant to see a manager take control of the club like this and start the sort of surgery we need. LVG has a plan and these are the guys he wants to implement it. Very excited for the next few months.

He will. I'm sure of it. And if anyone can make him better, It's LVG and the coaching staff here.

Not seen enough of him to judge conclusively and @Elliot and @Rams speak highly of him having seen him much more than me, but overall a midfield of he, Herrera and Mata looks pretty one paced. You'd hope their intelligence and ability on the ball negates that.

I can't understand how some people are so down about this signing I really can't. He's a great addition to our team. He's young, versatile, intelligent, technically astute, knows LVG and his philosophy and system, and has the potential to really improve here. What's not to like!? I'm confident he's not going to be our last signing either.

We will not be seeing much of Blind, Herrera and Mata in midfield. That's what Di Maria was bought for.
Unless you're talking about 4-2-3-1, but in that case Mata is not a midfielder anyway.

Probably where Di Maria is supposed to make the difference.

Some games in life are bad
This season can really make you mad
Results just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, just don'tgive Atkinson the whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the BLIND side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
If season seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to see Loius smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the BLIND side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
For life is quite absurd
And MKDons been the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your Shinj - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's was his last chance anyhow.

So always look on the Blind side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Rooney was a bit shit
When you look at it
Loius s a laugh and Clev's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that Louis us folliwing you.

And always look on the blind side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the blind side of life...
Always look on the blind side of life...
(Worse things happen if you re a gooner, spud or a dipper, you know.)
Always look on the blind side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? MK dons us nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

Fair point. All depends on what we do with Di Maria. I still think all of this ends with Mata losing out in the long run.

Hererra is very quick

Agreed. About 2 weeks ago I wrote in another thread that Mata will not be first choice player by May. He doesn't fit 4-3-3 and we don't have midfielders who are suited to 2 man midfield.

Blind is not a spectacular player, but he'll help United keep the ball much better and quicken the play up. If you ask me the big problem with United in the 3 domestic games this season is that they've been their own worst enemies by terrible decision making of certain individuals, dilly dallying on the ball and giving the ball away at the worst possible times. In the past, when we had midfielders like Keane and Scholes, we never would have made those mistakes. With a Blind type player you get a player who is very good at thinking on his feet and making the right pass. I think a player like Blind will actually help speeding up our play because Blind will see & make the right pass much quicker. This on turn will also help players like Mata or DiMaria to find more space.
It won't happen over night, but I would expect over the next couple of months to see a marked improvement in our play as players like Blind, Carrick and Herrera come in to the side and get used to each other.

I know it's only highlights but how are people comparing this to Tom Cleverley?

Yes we do. Carrick/Blind with Herrera is perfectly acceptable in a 5-3-2. I can't believe people are actually doubting or dismissing Mata. He's technically our best player, not including Di Maria.

I'm happy with Blind and glad we weren't scrabbling around on Monday for him. Good range of passing, good work rate, intelligent player who reads the game well and he's a decent tackler. Good addition to the squad despite some bemoaning the fact he's not a superstar. You only have to look as far as van Gaal's Dutch team in the World Cup to see you don't need 11 absolute superstars to make a very good team.

Blind had an impressive world cup, so let's hope he carries that form with him when he joins us. He's also a player who can play in multiple positions, which makes him more valuable in case of injuries.

Not going to complain about this deal.

As a person who's watched him zillions of times play for Ajax, he's a very good & intelligent player with superb vision and technique. He has a great variety of passes to boot. One big weakness however... he's as slow as a big fat steaming turd. The Ajax fans will be concerned he's left their club because he's been there outstanding player the past 2 seasons. He'll certainly improve our ability to keep hold of the ball in midfield, not unlike Scholes.

Sounds promising to me. I'm optimistic about this one. He looked good at the WC, and he seems talented and well-rounded, as well as being obviously versatile. The fact that Strootman was subject to the exact same criticisms last summer is a good omen as well :). Hopefully he stakes a claim to the defensive mdfield role. A 3 man mifield of Blind/Carick, Herrera and Di Maria looks like a vast improvement on last season's dross.

In 3-5-2 I think it might work. But I don't think we will be playing this formation (because of Di Maria).

The Mata Dilemma has been discussed many times, he’s excellent player behind the striker. But he doesn’t fit 4-3-3 IMO.

I think that's one of the reasons we won't be going to 4-3-3 this season. Along with the dilemma of dropping Rooney or van Persie.
