True, but it's especially relevant to the likes of Blind, Fellaini Mata etc.. We have a number of average players in our squad.

He has a good game or two at left back and managers think he's a good left back. Then he gets found out in the very next game against pacey wingers (Shaqiri/ Stoke, Pedro/Chelsea). Every fecking year this happens.

I think he's best suited to a holding midfield role where he doesn't have to be last man. He could be very good there, dropping between the CBs.
He's been crap today but some people here want to have a word with themselves, it's like they are incapable of thinking past the last half an hour.
Said it all along, he's a good utility player and nothing more. We can get and should have someone better wherever you want to put him on the field

To be fair I've been saying it for a long time. This bloke is one two three mistakes a game. Cost us versus City as well. Only a matter of time before he is out the team. Good player but shocking defender and not good enough for midfield.
He has been targeted by Conte and it's worked a treat for them. He is only average as a LB but much better in the middle. Shaw will reclaim his place soon.
Indeed but Smalling should have swept that first goal up with ease and he did a similar thing a couple of other times too.
He's been shite. Pedro tore him apart in the first half. The sooner Shaw comes in, the easier it would be to stop these diagonal runs from wingers

I've been saying this since we bought him. He's perfect for the DM role.
He's a decent CB when you aren't playing the top teams. Otherwise his best role is DM. Could be worse though. He's not as bad as Stones and didn't cost us 50 mil.
Except he's not, theres literally dozens of games where he hasn't made two or three mistakes a game, many of which he's been our best player. There are far, far more instances of him playing well than when he's made mistakes, and this is a game where everyone with the exception of Valencia (who shouldve done much better than from the corner) have played shit.

Just stop. I don't get how you think performing well against some weaker opponents overrides his error prone performances against the top half of the table. If you are a defender in the EPL, you should be good at defending period. Still i don't blame Blind, only the intellectually challenged managers who continue to start him.
He's good when we are the dominant team which is the majority of games but soon as we face some pressure or a pressing team he gets exposed.

CB or DMF please. He is good at LB when things go right, but I am more confident when I see Shaw playing in that position. 1/3 at fault for the first goal, and almost gifted Chelsea an another one.
