Blind goes for that ball and he gets sent off. Bailly should have challenged the header. Someone should be tracking De Bruyne.

Absolutley no arguement here. Wait until he makes a real mistake if you want to call him crap.

Edit: Like playing the striker onside :lol::lol:

He's a clever passer but an unintelligent defender.

I'd agree. He's fine at defending when he's got plenty of time to think about what he's doing and when he isn't under pressure, but that goes out the window if he's got his back to the wall and has to react quickly.

Not a real defender, he is decent against Hull, but against top teams he is rubbish. He played like a midfielder and stopped right after he lost the ball thinking somebody would clean it up.

This a 100%. I posted previously how our best defence was Smalling and Bailly and got eaten alive for it. Blind is not a top defender. He will do it against the small teams but has been found out today.

You mean like the second goal when he plays everyone onside? No one's calling him crap either: we're just calling him out for defensive errors.

Another dreadful play from him. What Minimalist and The United have to say about that...
Once again he is completely off in terms of position.
I have nothing to say about it as my stream died.

I don't defend him against mistakes. I defend him against people picking on him for things he does not do.

It's the Blind vs Stones show. Who will be the bigger defensive liability and cost their teams goals.

I'll never understand the periodic love-in with him as a centre back. He's a good footballer, but as a centre back you can always count on him to be a liability in games in which he is regularly called upon to actually defend.

Like the whole team.
Valencia seems to be the only defensive player on the pitch that hasn't lost his head, Blind needs to wake up, the attributes he's usually so good with; awareness and positioning has gone to pot.

Been poor but I'd argue Bailly was awful for the first, didn't even challenge the header. Should never of went to Blind.

Ye, fair do's. He's cost us a goal today.

Wave after wave of attack and he'll eventually crack I suppose.

He's just not his usual sharp self today. Lazy to get back into position and not proactive enough to cover for your midfielders mistakes. So unlike him.

He's a positional liability. Sorry for being old fashioned but I want my keepers to be better at catching the ball than passing and centre backs to be more defensively sound than comfortable on the ball.

He's not positionally good. People have that impression because he's good on the ball. I'd say he's better at being a one-on-one defender than he is in positioning himself.

Smalling would have not let that happen. It doesn't make sense that he is not playing when we are supposed to be defending.

I feel like that goes for the whole team though. City have come out all guns blazing and we looked shell shocked.

Still baffled why Bailly didn't challenge that long ball for the first goal.

I think it's a bit harsh blaming him for the first goal. If Smalling had been there in his spot, the same thing may have happened (or may not, it's hard to tell). However, if Smalling was in Bailly's position then there's no way it would have happened, as there's no doubt Smalling would have dominated that high ball.

Lol aren't you that desperate? Even after I said i don't defend him against his mistakes.
Well you clearly do. He made two dreadful ones today and the first one you discarded as a mistake by somebody else and the second one you supposedly did not see. So i guess you had a time to watch replay or something or is your stream still down freezing the system?

He was caught out of position! It happens but some people won't see it. I am pointing out that that can happen to any defender.

But, we were asking for it with the way we set up though. Wave after wave, we were going to concede.

First time he has been tested this season and he has a bit of a shocker, Jose has to get Smalling back in the team and hopefully this performance convinces him to do so for the next game.

Bailly also can't escape any criticism though, he also has looked a bit dodgy, and his aggressiveness is going to cost us at some point in the future.

What part do you fail to understand?

I'll have to disagree with you there, his positioning as off when he first moved to CB but has been on point ever since.

So from your POV, what should Blind have done differently to prevent the first goal (bar taking De Bruyne out). I'm really curious as to what people think he should have been doing.

You wouldn't get any reasonable reply from him obviously.

He is accusing me of playing wenger's card and couldn't understand what I said either.

Much better in this half so far. Then again, we're actually fighting for the ball now all over.
