There will be plenty of games for all three
As great as Blind has been at CB, I am curious to see how he would be as a CDM again

I always think these things are impossible to call. In reality we actually know so little about what our player's professional personalities and relationships with other squad members are like.
I agree. He has been given the captain's armband at times this season though so he must be rated highly in the dressing room and by Mourinho.

well the point is there, ppl just like to exaggerate.. but Smalling was better defender than Blind even in the second half of the season, the number of times he bailed him and our awful fullbacks... he doesnt get enough credit for that while Blind nonchalantly stick to his position and passed the ball from the back which is also important but he was and is not even half as good in the air as Mike and never possessed the speed and strength to cover the whole backline, letting alone the whole tackling area of defending, both players are good interceptors...

BS. I posted a video a little while back showing Smalling stuck in the middle of the field(had many complain Blind had been doing this while none complained that Smalling did this too) and the same video showing Blind running about 30m to cover a ball Smalling loses. So much for Blind sticking to his position.

You people talk so much crap, you start believing it.

well obviously Blind does cover for fbx but smalling is so much better in that

edit and one video which shows what SMalling does or doesn!t doesnt really say the whole story, I can show you video of one of the Ronaldo misses and you wont think hes bad striker.. almost looks like you re one of the guys who spends time trying to find mistakes in footballers. well...

I don't care. What you are saying about Blind is clear BS.

Interesting to see what Pep does in regards to Blind.

His passing from deep starts a lot of our attacks. KdB and Silva in midfield won't position themselves to stop it.

Blind is clever passing-wise but not clever positionally. He gets caught out 2 or 3 times per game.

Whom we pick depends on what Jose prefers from his back 4 - solidity or composure. I'd prefer the former (with Smalling) but I wouldn't begrudge the manager choosing the latter (with Blind). I think we're more likely to get punished by the PL's top strikers with the second choice, mind you.

Sure coz smalling or any other CBs never get caught out at all.

You know everyone gets caught out of their positions a few times in the game coz that's how it is. And it is why you have team mates to cover for you and you do the same for them. Team work and game and all that.

And PL top strikers will most likely to punish us. Well, what did I hear that before?!

People talk about blind like all he does is nice passing while completely ignoring about his defensive works. Do people even watch the games? Or even highlights sometimes when you don't remember or can't watch a game.

The top centre halves rarely do. That's the difference. Blind has been fantastic thus far this season though, no doubt about that.

Depends on what your manager want you to do. If you get asked to press their forwards way out of your zones, it will happen. That and if you don't have someone else covering your zone etc.

CBs in top teams don't get 'caught out of position' just because they are not good defenders.

Also I am sure your so called top CBs have their moments often if not all in the game they play. Otherwise, there will be a team who does not concede any chance at all against other teams.

None of our CBs are faultless or world-class. But they compliment each other very well, with the exception of Smalling-Bailey which remains to be seen but dare I say they will too.

Got to be happy with that.

I think Blind getting caught out positionally was because of the way we defended last season, at least as per Jose the defending was man marking. So Blind followed strikers to the midfield, whereas this season it's zonal and we are not seeing Blind ending up in midfield from CB position.

Yeah we have 3 very good CBs and I'm confident with any of them playing.

Yeah, Smalling got caught out too last season with the man marking. The zonal marking is definitely better.

No they don't. That's what makes them top defenders. But Blind and Bailly works, complimented each other very well so far.

Yeah it left gap in the center of the defense, maybe it was supposed to be covered by the defensive midfielder. Somehow it worked but looked suicidal.

This is so good.

Perfect weight every time.
Credit where it's due, Rooney's touch and control is perfect at 4:35.
Does anyone know in which game 4:42 happened?

EDIT: Nevermind, it was Memphis against Club Brugge.

I can see him having one poor match and all the bashers will start claiming they're right immediately. So sad.

It's a bit like Valencia in that respect. The critics have gone quiet, waiting for that one time he is caught out of position which will prove them right.

With Blind they're waiting for him to be out jumped or out muscled. No players are perfect, even Lahm gets caught out of position occasionally and Vidic got out muscled and out jumped at times. They build up enough good will for it to be ignored though and that is what Blind and Valencia are in the process of doing.

I think Blind has gone from being slightly underrated on here to people embellishing his ability slightly.
Just before the season started, people were convinced he was going to be dropped or moved on now, and now he's making most best prem 11's

This is so good.

First of all finally a football video without obnoxious high Bpm EDM music
Secondly, he should have sooo many more career assists, within the first few minutes there are a huge amount of missed sitters

The music fits him perfectly too, never rushed, always calm.

The amount of times I've had discussions with posters who tell me his passing isn't on the same level as Carricks, astonishing really.

But he's too short, too slow, too weak and too shit to ever play in defense for a top team and all the big lumps (or was it speed merchants) will massacre him.

Like the West Ham game.....oh wait.

Stones has won 0 tackles and lost about 2 tackles? Looks like he has improved eh

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I do think most were like me in that they've rated Blind as a brilliant player for a while now but, despite being a brilliant player, we didn't think he'd fit into a José type team due to his physique. Well, my opinion on him as a player hasn't changed at all this season anyway.

Not to blow my own trumpet, but...

...I think he'll stick with Blind at the back. If nothing else, Jose is pragmatic...

...Ok, I'm blowing my own trumpet.
