Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

What’s people’s opinion of the game so far without giving anything away obviously? I’ve seen a few folk on Twitter saying the games pretty boring but it might just come down to their preference right enough, just wanted to know a bit before buying the game.

Playing on base PS4 with glitches and all I would probably give it 7.5/10 so far. About 18 hours in. I frankly still don't know what the story is about and open world so far feels like it's lack quality of content. On a high end PC or console fully patched and all I would probably up to 8.5. It has great moments and segments so far anyway, but I don't think it's lived up to the hype.

Another game I'd like to play, but a 750ti might be pushing it. Then again, I think I'd struggle to upgrade from that right now... Scan? No video cards. Overclockers? None. Amazon? None. No 10, 20 or 30 series. Ridiculous situation.

I love it personally. It's not the generational game we might have been expecting, but as a huge fan of the setting it was easy for me to be drawn in.

I think quite a few people were expecting a futuristic next-gen GTA which this game certainly isn't. Its still very much an RPG with tame combat mechanics, albeit one set in a very immersive world with very well written characters and quests. If you enjoyed a flawed gem like Fallout New Vegas, you'd probably like this a lot.

It just so happens to be one of my favourite games!

Cheers for the info guys sounds like a quality game that’s maybe not quite reached the heights people thought it would but that’s fine with me. Need something to play as the only game I’ve bought so far in Cold War I’m refusing to play out of fear of it bricking my XSX with constant crashing.

I think a lot of it depends on the games you've played before on the "boring" front. For example, I've played all of the Deus Ex games, the Riddick games and Syndicate (2012) which are all games this basically takes it's ideas from. Watchdogs too. So on that front, it's nothing new so far, nothing fresh. In fact it's backwards compared to some of them and how their systems work, in many ways.

That being said, it I'd struggle to see how it could be called boring even at the start, there seems to be a fair amount of content. I think what people are finding early on is that it's overwhelming and as such they are struggle to pinpoint what to do next, which is obviously something they'll get used to and start to find their niche of what they want to do. Whilst not outstanding, I'm finding the combat to be surprisingly more fun that I expected, and at least on PC the city isn't as dead as it first looked.

We shall not talk about the driving though. All I'll say is think cardboard boxes moving around in orderly fashion

I’m 15 hours in, only just getting a bit deeper into the Evelyn thing. Have also spent a fair bit of time figuring out crafting, upgrading, taking out random gang members I spot, etc. I also feel bad for not paying Vik back yet should really start stacking some eddies soon.

I just paid him back. Thought I’d get it out the way early. I now have 7 eddys.

How does it compare to The Witcher 3? I am very excited about this game but also scared to lose a month or so of my life!

I’ve only just figured out that X is handbrake. I’ve been drifting into so much shit wondering why it’s such a bitch to turn.

@Redlambs I think Watch Dogs 1 is a better game based on what I've played of this so far..

I wasn't a massive fan, but I can totally see that opinion and why you'd say that on initial thoughts.

I think I want to like this more than anything, and that's clouding my judgement somewhat. Still, it's very early days and there is some charm here. I'm just still very much been there done that, which is what's annoying me most about this game, there's just little of the CDPR strengths and style so far.

Yeah it doesn't really tell you the controls much.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time stuck in a video camera earlier, I think I mashed every single key to get out and still to this minute don't know which one did it!

I think the setting makes it so that they are not really comparable. Same developer yes, but it's still fantasy vs sci-fi.

It always gives me button prompts when hacking a camera. Is that not the case on PC? It could be, shockingly and unexpectedly, a bug.

I keep opening photo mode on ps5 and I have no idea how I'm doing it

Same! I nearly paid Vik back, bought bought the new OS instead :D

I tried out a controller to see what it was like as the driving sections are better with a controller. I kept on talking to people whilst crouched after fighting and then press "B" on the controller to un-crouch and ended up skipping multiple sections of dialogue. That seems like a really stupid button to double-up on as it forced me to watch the cut scenes whilst crouched on the floor and looking up someone's nose

18 hours in? What are you a vampire, the game was only released 40 hours ago!

Everyone with a PS4 copy will get a free next gen upgrade right?

That will be the saving grace if so.

GOAT game, I'm 13 hours in playing PC on hard mode. It's extremely addictive.

It's basically a Deus Ex GTA. Not advanced the story much but so far it's an enjoyable and interesting one, feel like it's going to open up and get really interesting very shortly.

The ray tracing is kind of pointless isn't it. Right now I'm in a hotel room (Heist mission) with huge windows that reflect everything but your character. Looks and feels fecking weird.
They've made a mistake going first person only.

On what controller? That would be useful.

I'm playing on pc and my old, old cpu doesn't like it much, i5 4690 and the game is keeping it busy. On the bright side its free room heating.
Performance is a bit shaky at points but mostly fine, until i get into a car. Driving fast in a car and performance tanks bad, so i drive like a granny now.
Only glitches have been the 2 in the street kid prologue that everyone seems to get with police cars and lift doors, no crashes.
It looks like a fairly run of the mill open world game to me, with lots of neon.
I love the setting, I like the characters (I think i love judy a bit), about to start a big heist and looking forward to getting back to it.

Agree and because this (going first person) its made the in-depth customization almost pointless.

The combat has no real weight to it, enemies literally just run through your bullets/melee attacks and soak them up. I'm hoping it's just the early guns, but I really don't think it is I think they have no impact value in this game which is very odd to say the least.

This is why I just went for a full hack build. I figured the weapon-based combat would be floaty. It was the same issue with the recent Deus Ex games. Much more satisfying to just fry them using the environment, or hacking into their augmentations.

I suspected this would be a huge disappointment. Certainly sounds like it. Will be getting the PS5 version whenever it’s ready, sounds like they need another year or two before this should have seen the light of day.

This is what I've heard too and it is a saving grace because it's just too messy at the moment on my PS4. The game has crashed on my four times and I wasn't even doing the main missions

I'm hoping a new patch will come out very soon because it's spoiling a very interesting game.

Music in combat and on the radio is perfect. 10 out of 10 for that at least.

Even with the recent Deus Ex games, the enemies at least reacted to damage and there is some impact, even if not enough.

In this there's no movement, no reactions, nothing. It's very amateurish to say the least! Which is a shame as firing the guns feels ok.

Huge disappointment depends on your expectations going into it. For example, I expected the combat to be terrible and I was wrong, it's alright. I expected the world to be unique and highly styled, I was wrong, it's a mish-mash of ideas done better in other games.

I'm just hoping the story and characters turn out better than initial thoughts, as even they seem incredibly generic :(

Upped the game to 1440p with Ray tracing on apart from a few things and switched to my 57” TV and plugged in my Xbox elite controller.

more like it looks miles better on a decent screen on pc

Gotta disagree on that one. I think the world is great so far. I’ve not seen a futuristic neon urban jungle done to this extent before, but maybe I’ve just not played the right games. I just hope it doesn’t start to feel shallow and samey. Too early to tell if it will yet.

Yep, that's the thing. It highly depends on the games you've played, but I've banged on about it enough in this thread what exact games I'm talking about. And those games all did it with way more individual style, this is as generic as it could be for this kind of game sadly, which I'm surprised about.

Hell, even Sleeping Dogs did neon city with more unique futuristic style.

The Witcher 3 was nowhere near this buggy on launch, I mean I'm only like 3 hours in and already encountered crazy bugs, it's actually quite disgraceful it was released in this state. I can only imagine how bad the console versions are.
