Real Madrid want to improve their first team. Replacing Ronaldo with Bale weakens their team, so on what logic do you guys think we're gonna get Ronaldo off them?
The logic is based on the idea that Ronaldo wants out no matter what.

Selling Rooney weakens our team but if Madrid came in with a good bid we'd snap their hands off because he wants to leave. The same might be true for Ronaldo. Oh, and Howard Nurse said it wasn't happening.

There's a reason Real left that number 11 shirt open. Now I wonder which other club has left a significant number open?

On like donkey kong.

IF it's true that Ronaldo wants to return to us, or even just wants out of Madrid, then it makes complete sense for Real to sell now. Bale might not be his standard yet, but Ronaldo has been too reluctant to sign a new deal with them, that means with only 2 years left on his contract this is their best chance to recoup a good fee for him. If they left it till next year to sell they would be looking at a much cheaper fee for a player with only 1 year left on his contract, eg. Van Persie, or even worse he just runs down his contract.

If Ronaldo wants away - this time next year they get a reduced fee, or even worse he sits his contact out and moves for free. Like United with Rooney this is the last time they can get a decent fee.

Pilled up German landlord says its a done deal and talk of Kaka and Ozil joining is a smokescreen to cover finalisation of contract details. He then assured me he "has links" and "can get me MDMA". Happy days.

There's no way we're going to pay Ronaldo the kind of salary he's going to demand.

I think Real owned most of it, probably 80% or thereabouts. Perhaps the Real fan Vato may know more about it

It's currently split 60/40, in who's favour I'm not sure.

Edit: It's in his favour, Real usually take 50/50 on image rights but agreed to let him have 60%... now he wants more, which seems to be a stumbling block on his contract renewal.

I'm not sure about this, but do we have this image rights thing which exist at United? I can't for my life remember if we ever had this sort of thing

Did we retain any of his imaging rights at Utd?

Reading a couple of articles it seems United & Arsenal like to have a 50-50 share of image rights with players, but Ronaldo was given 100% of his image rights when he was at Old Trafford.
Some snippets:
Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, wants the Manchester United winger to receive a greater share of his image rights than the 50-50 deal that Madrid agree with all of their galácticos, their former midfielder David Beckham included. Madrid, whose determination to sign the Portuguese superstar owes much to his marketability, are reluctant to agree to a deal that is tipped in the player's favour. Their president, Florentino Pérez, does not want to break with an economic model he insists has been successful.

Any image rights deal would cover endorsements that Ronaldo signs only after he joins Madrid, meaning that the Portugal international would continue to receive 100% of existing deals with sponsors such as Nike and the Portuguese bank Banco Espiritu Santo. And Madrid say that not only does their earning potential increase with Ronaldo, his earning potential increases by being at the world-renowned club.
So funnily enough, his deal was on edge when he originally joined them due to image rights!

Signing him could also lead to us negotiating a better renewal package with Nike.

And for himself too. His current Nike sponsorship deal runs out in 2014, so no doubt combined with him returning to United one of Nike's biggest shirt sponsors, that would equal in a bumper increase on Ron's Nike deal.

This fecking thread as even got me checking twitter bullshit now. I blame Sparks, he has a lot to answer for.

Why is everyone suddenly convinced Bale is on the verge of joining Madrid? It's been rumoured for months, but is there something more to it in the past few hours? All of my usual sites are reporting nothing out of the ordinary.

Cause Spurs seems that are in verge of signing Willian and Lamela. They don't have the money to do it without selling the super ape.

Balague on Revista saying how he's going to stay at Madrid for many many years.

That down payment he claimed we paid on Falcao springs to mind...

Look at you lot getting sucked in, it's on lads. It's fecking on
