Cristiano Ronaldo

I once got into trouble because my mum saw an 0898 number on our bill and thought I was calling sex lines. It was actually clubcall and I was salivating over rumours of us signing Le Tissier. Muppetry in the mid 90s was a dangerous and costly business

Someone should whisper into Ronnie's ears that he has a chance to do this at least a couple of times a year if he came home.

He needs to come home and do this. Give him the no.7 shirt.

I wish bale would hurry the feck up and join madrid so that we can get our Ronnie back.

So when he comes home and reclaims his number 7 shirt, which should be anytime now, do we declare that the new Ronaldo day?

Potentially. Maybe the 8th can be considered as Ronaldo-day eve, despite it not being the day before. T'is a day to prepare for the up-and-coming Ronaldo day.

Still hasn't signed a new contract with Real Madrid. Until that happens there is hope, no matter how faint.

There's not a lot for him to gain in signing a new deal at Real Madrid. Suits him and stacks the options massively in his favour to let it run down.

Imagine the money on offer if he ever became a free agent!

It would be sweet if he comes back to united and help shut Chelsea down. United can do it without him but it would be so much sweeter to see the look on mourinho's face.

I hated the way he acted when he wanted to leave, and I also hate prima donna superstar footballers, but I reckon we'd definitely need something like this if we sell Rooney to Chelsea.

1.) Ronaldo didn't start with United in 05/06
2.) The jersey you are holding up as Ronaldo's 05/06 jersey isn't from the 05/06 season but from 06/07
3.) Judging by the above two points, despite stating that you didn't jump on the "Ronaldo bandwagon", you clearly did
4.) Judging by the above three points, you clearly aren't good at being a superfan.

What a gimp. I'm sure Ronaldo forgot his jersey promise as soon as this clown was escorted off the field.

I'm assuming Ronaldo was operating on a 'say whatever this potential stabbist wants to hear until he's in custody' basis.

If I was Ronaldo I'd be pretty pissed off that the guy actually had time to make it all the way to him and have a heartfelt embrace before security got to him.

Worrying if hilarious at times.

"What did you say to Ronaldo?"

"Everybody wants to know - and I'm paraphrasing here - it's the million dollar question. I told my inmates, I told my friends, I told Joey Blumfield who lives a few houses down from me, well, actually, he lives on a parallel road that's diagonally across from mine, technically not the same district, but I sometimes go into his neighborhood for groceries, or I have done, twice, in fact, it was only once, and I didn't even go, my father did, but he told me about it... well, I told Joey what I told Ronaldo. It all began on the day I was born, or actually, when my father was born, his father and mother, my grandparents, moved from..."

Poor lad... to say he is 'touched' is stating the obvious!

I love that video, Ronaldo brought such energy and guile to United's attacks - it was clear what an impact he had right from the start. Don't want to take the thread off topic - but it's also a joy to see Scholes in his prime, he wasn't known for his pace but look how rapidly he gets forward at 15:45 mins. When he still had his legs he was a world-beater. Missing him very much already.

Especially if Rooney goes to Chelsea. I can just imagine how over the top the sky sports build up would be. Rooney vs Ronaldo, and in the eyes of United fans, Hero vs Villain. It would be fantastic.

Indeed and it's been suggested a couple of clubs may already be talking pre-contracts with him along those lines. I would guess the likeliest candidate is whoever is that summer's PSG, as opposed to whoever is that summer's Monaco. Or us ;)

That's why from the Madrid press/member/fan point of view a contract renewal would count as a new signing.

Why would he want to leave Madrid?
Why would Madrid let him leave?

The only answer to both is Bale, really.

If they get him, then from their point of view it'll be tricky to keep both happy, and even madrid would have their finances stretched. Selling Ronaldo does become a very viable option.

From his point of view he could well see it as a signt hat he isn't the goldne boy anymore... how long does the average Galactico last as the main man once a newer shiny bauble has been unveiled?

The first post was an error!

I disagree. Signing Bale and then selling Ronaldo weakens their team.

Why will it be tricky to keep both happy?

I agree, but I'm just not sure that Madrid think like that. They like their new toys, and their big unveilings etc, and they prioritise their Galactico policy ahead of the most sensible footballing option.

Could they both play / remain happy. Possibly yes, and there's been plenty of discussion already about formations etc, but at the end of the day they are undedniably similar players position / role wise, and it's far from obvious whetehr playing both makes sense. And if they are competing for a spot, is Ronnie going to be impressed with that?

Nothing is clear cut, but buying Bale definitely adds a high level of uncertainty regarding Ronaldo's future, and brings in some very valid reasons that he might move.

Ancelotti would for sure.

I'd imagine the plan is to play them both.
