Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo as a central striker is a bad call. I mean, obviously he'd do ok, because he's the second best player in the world. But when you have the second best player in the world, you don't play them out of position.

They'll have an embarrassment of riches, classic Madrid style.

Surely the most obvious thing will be to move Ronaldo to the right hand side, and Bale sits on the left.

Then you have Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo as the front 3.

And the midfield just have to work a bit harder.

Ronaldo as CF from now on IMO, would work perfectly with Bale on the left and Ozil and Isco supporting.

Would be wasting Ronaldo as an out an out striker imo. You want him as the spare man, coming in on the end of moves. As the striker he would need to be involved too much and easier to pick up. Plus don't know why you would take Ronaldo out of the position he's been killing it at for someone who so far has gotten about a third of the goals he has a season.

Surprised more people aren't putting it together that if Real are spending such a completely - and totally - ridiculous amount on Bale it's a good indicator that it's a panic buy. Ronaldo tweeted unequivocally he did not sign a contract extension with Real, he kept quiet during the saga regardless. There have been plenty of high up journalists saying that something big is coming in early August...for once it would actually make complete and total sense.

He wouldn't be an out and out striker though, not with Bale and Isco flanking him.

Maybe not, but somebody has to be the focal point, we all like free flowing systems, but in practice there is usually a set structure, with some natural movement over the game.

Look at how Benzema plays for Madrid, he has plenty of scope for dropping deep and pulling out wide, I'd imagine the same will be true for Ronaldo.

I agree with this; but I still think there is no reason to pay such a ridiculous fee for Bale unless you're losing a big, big player...

I think they believe that Barcelona are leaving them behind, they've just bought Neymar to add to Messi, Xavi and Iniesta whilst Madrid have got Isco but lost Mourinho.

Any other club and I'd be agreeing with you but not Madrid, they are going to launch their attempt at la decima with a Ronaldo/Bale partnership.

Stop that. It'll just hurt more when it doesn't come off.

'I know that he (Ronaldo) is not happy at all with the attitude and behaviour of the president. He is asking for €20million net every season which is going to be difficult for Real to accept,' he told talkSPORT's Drive Time show.
'I think the president has all his eggs on the table just in case he can’t get the renewal of Cristiano. That is my impression.
'He’s afraid at some moment that Cristiano will say, "I am not going to go on". That will be bad news for Madrid. I would like to see him retire at Real but now the situation is difficult. Let's see in the next weeks or months if it can be sorted out and he can stay.'

If ancelotti plays Ronaldo up top it will be a big mistake. He doesn't like playing with his back to goal.

Yeah, you could be onto something. A lot of people here will be gutted though if a move to PSG is on the cards for him.

Ronaldo, or two CM's? Lets say we do somehow bring Ronnie back, spunk a great deal of monies on him and not sign anyone else. Would people be happy with this?

What's with people and making up hypothetical scenarios? I've seen this or some variant of this type of question asked several times.

Nothing wrong with generating a bit of discussion mate. Why does there have to be something with me for starting up some harmless chat? The type of chat you would have over a beer with a few mates down the pub. feck sake. What's crawled up your arse and died? You need to get laid.

I think there might be something to the story, no matter what the source(s). Bale is the number 1 choice signing of Real fans - he won a recent Marca poll of prospective signings by a mile & fans were shouting his name when Perez unveiled 2 new signings - but, on the face of it, paying so much for Bale seems strange unless there's an ulterior motive. Note that of all the Real players talking-up the Bale signing, Cristiano isn't one of them...

There is definitely something going on regarding Ronaldo. Whether he is angling at a move away, or pushing for a giant contract is yet to be seen? But for Real to go hard for Bale and with the amount of money being quoted in the press, tells me that they be preparing for life without Ronaldo.

I just don't think there's room at Real for two super-galacticos, where Ronaldo's ego is concerned; and, in his defence, I doubt he'd take kindly to second-billing given his fantastic record with the club.

I think my brain would explode if we signed both Ronaldo and Fabregas. Is the word *** still banned?

That's a yes then.

That twitter guy seems very confident in what he's saying and it doesn't seem like the normal bullshit. It ties in with what Moyesey has been saying all along. "We're in for the worlds best players, hope to have DEALS tied up soon." Talking about Cesc and Ronnie, maybe?

So now this is pretty much certain, the big question is do we give him back number 7 or does he want to be CR9?

He can have both shirts frankly.

Can you imagine if he came back? fecking hell! It'd be like being forced to marry Adrianna Lima and getting £10m for it!!

As I said before I'm not believing it until I see him at a United press conference. I can't contain myself but I have to...patience

Has that ever bothered RM? They buy whoever they want, whether it makes sense or not from a football point of view
