Does anyone actually think we have a chance of getting him this summer? I would love to believe and I still do hold a candle of hope but it's barely flickering at the moment.

Christ what a player to have back if we did get him.

Arruda, Does everyone in Portugal look like morph in the summer?

Not at all. We have a wide variety of skin complexions but the ones who tan well tend to acquire a more natural (darkened) color. That looks like solarium stuff.

I'm from the cloudiest/rainiest area of the country and I hate Algarve so I rarely get a proper tan.

I'm holding my candle of hope upright and it's burning bright and dripping hot wax all over the place.

Here he is with Wayne, happier, simpler times.

The Honeymoon is over at Madrid, and he now sees it for the circus it really is.

Unfortunately for us it wont be quite as simple to get him back.

Man Utd Sainz (AS reporter, normally good on topics Ronaldo) was on TV last night. He says that from Ronaldo's perspective Perez's speeches about Madrid's determination to renew are just hot air for the fans. There have been no offers, no discussions - just public speeches by Perez saying he's confident that Ronaldo will renew.

Ronaldo at present is said to be happy with how things have finally gone with the Madrid fans, happy with the Ancelotti appointment, happy to live in Madrid, but unimpressed by everything else. Including the fact that he's constantly being talked about in the press as haggling over wages and image rights, when actually no discussions have taken place - in the past 4 years.

Incidentally (or not :D) he's supposed to be in Monaco this week to attend a press event for a watch firm, Jacob and Co.

From the impression I get from Ronaldo's recent quotes, I reckon he wants to come back but at the same time is saying he's happy in Madrid incase no move materialises.

Ronaldo in Singapore a few days back giving an interview. Here he says he's happy playing in the Spanish League, and committed to Real. But note that not once does he mention his love for Real Madrid, while admitting he misses United. He only says he's happy in Spain (again no mention of Real). I'm certain he will be back when his contract ends.

I can't see it tbh. I dont think Ancelotti will be stupid enough to let him walk in what could be his only season as RM manager. I also can't see them letting his contract run down. If he ever does come back to OT it wont be this season.

Just read some quote the standard really ' I am fond of United but my future is with Madrid I am happy to be here'. In terms of a deal in all honesty there is no chance they sell him he has two years to run and that would be a fiasco for them commercially, Real have NEVER sold a player they have wanted to keep. What he wants is more structure at the club so I assume they will show they have that know with Ancelotti who I think will do well and really get the most out of the flair players they have. If the oppurtunity came to sign him it would be next summer, but I imagine Perez will throw the kitchen sink at him when the time comes. I could see him signing here for a free in two years but that is if he can resist Real's advances for 2 years which I doubt.

The official site has a story headlined "Boss deflects Ronaldo talk" with today's quotes from Moyes about how he doesn't like to talk about players under contract. Was Ronaldo the subject of that question? I don't remember his name even being mentioned in the press conference.

There's obviously something afoot with Ronaldo, otherwise the likes of Moyes and Phelan wouldn't be ducking the matter and Ronnie himself wouldn't be saying he's happy in Madrid (ie "I stay").

Didn't one of the reporters ask something like "what about the return of Ronaldo" just before he said United are always interested in the best players?

All that tells anyone is Rihanna got rejected heh.

He's obviously just getting a head start an meet up with the rest of the squad in the far east.

Looks like he over tanned.

At 12:37 in the press conference video. The journalists are talking over each other a bit but the question asked was "Is Cristiano Ronaldo one of those players?".
