He's not expected to be an equally good accountant, but if he had any interest in ensuring that he was paying the right amount of tax then he would simply hire a secondary set of advisers with the explicit goal of identifying any potential issues. He currently has a group of experts that are incentivised to save him as much money as possible, and this is the inevitable result. All he needs to do is hire a second set that are incentivisied to do something very different. The simple reality is he, like most other people, don't care about paying the right amount of tax. That's entirely normal but excusing it on those grounds is silly. He's not a helpless child, as he's evidently been advised by his lawyers to pretend he is. He has access to more resources than the vast majority of the world's population and has simply chosen not to use those resources to fulfil his legal requirements.
I can't stand him. He is just a drama queen who constantly need everyone's validation and he is just annoyed Real doesn't give him much support and show him love and care in this case. Neymar doesn't need to reach that level of performance, just passing the declined Cristiano & Messi eventually is enough. Neymar is a natural charmer, always huge attention draw even for the opposition fan like Madrid. Cristiano is not well liked by opposition fans, while Messi despite his talent is quite dull. So put it this way: if Cristiano Messi & Neymar are on same level, Neymar would win the popular contest.
Back to topic, Ronaldo must want that extension badly now that the wage cap is broken again.
