I don't think this has the slightest chance of happening but the only motivation I can think of for Ronaldo to come back is to become the all-time top goal scorer at both Madrid and United. I don't think any other player could match a feat like that, it would require 3-4 amazing seasons though which might be beyond him.

So if anyone is worried about Mourinho and Ed loosing focus on other transfer targets just because of this situation with Ronaldo, I would strongly recommend you to put more trust in Mourinho.

Only injuries will stop him if he does join. Ibra got 28 this year and he missed a load of chances and about a month due to injuries. Ronaldo will need to average 33 a season in 4 straight seasons, I would say that is more than achievable.

Mourinho is in a prime position to know what's what with this for the reasons already outlined in this thread. In the meantime, I imagine he'll be working towards his original targets. Ronaldo would be an unexpected and highly welcome bonus.

I agree, and I though just as long as our name isn't brought into then I'd have no issue, as I dismissed this very quickly as a non starter, but seemingly we are now the name that is been used, and that really lowers the tone for me if he is playing a similar game to the 'Ramos' one., Ramos is just some guy who doesn't give a crap about United, Ronaldo I would hope still has enough respect not to use our name in some elaborate game, he could just as easily say he wants PSG.

Yup. He's already paid the taxes. However the tax authorities are accusing him of fraud (criminal offense) and there'll be penalties and/or a jail term too that they'll push for in the trial.
