Cristiano Ronaldo | Transfer Speculation

Would you rather Ronaldo or Mbappe this window?

Can't help feel RM would use one to fund the other.
As a PSG fan I'd rather have Mbappé, 100% and that's not only on footballing terms.

Something seems fishy with this nth mood swing from Cristiano.

Ok then... extra wages means we'll just have to sell another drillion shirts... and a few pairs of shorts. :wenger:

Throw in a bit of eau de Ronaldo after shave and a few quadrillion cases of Cristiano moisturiser cream and our entire wage bill be paid for the next 100 years too!

We were still with Nike during half of 2015 and we had no cut of the merchandise sales with them. We get a good cut with Adidas and in 2016 that revenue tripled to £97.3m.

Anyway, it's not really "shirt sales" where we'd be really looking to profit from having Ronaldo, it's getting his face next to our badge on Toothpaste, Toilet Rolls, Fajitas, Frisbees, Sunglasses and Bubblegum in the Americas and Asia.
Really, didn't know that. Whoever negotiated the deal with Adidas did a hell of a job to get us 75m a year AND a significant cut of the sales.

That's fine. Don't have an issue with your point. I would have him still but as along as we get other players(winger, dm etc.) as well.

Don't get me wrong mate, I'd love to have him back. The guy is fecking amazing.

The trouble is, I just can't see any club on earth justifying the expenditure on a player that's physical attributes could just diminish at any moment.

Fishy how? I don't think it makes much sense that he's blaming the club and all of Spain for his own tax fraud...

£130m on a 32 year old who's standards fell dramatically for 80% of last season is a joke.

Something doesn't add up pal. For the figures being bandied about, I personally think both of our clubs should keep well clear.

Weren't Madrid having to nurse him through a knee injury last year too?

Doubt it's going to happen anyway. Bit of fannying about before everything is gold between CR and Real.

Didn't Messi escape a prison sentence by the skin of his teeth? Ronaldo has been accused of evading THREE times the amount of tax that Messi was found guilty of.

I'm no legal expert but methinks Ronaldo could be in the shitter here, hence this stroppy deflection.

Aye, what makes the most sense is for him to stay after a big group hug with the Real Madrid family.

Rumour is that the guy on the Adidas end of the deal faced the sack.

I think that was the case for Chevy deal. Did not hear anything about adidas sacking the guy who negotiated the deal. In fact, adidas was happy getting the deal cause it meant that they got the biggest clubs in the top 3 leagues to sign for them.

The guy on Chevrolet's end of that deal was also supposedly sacked right after... Man Utd take no prisoners

P.s. watch Star Wars already

He is on 350-400k pounds/week after taxes. Just matching his Madrid wages would mean paying 700-800k pounds per week.

Isn't Tévez widely regarded as the highest paid footballer on around 600k

What are you rolling your eyes at? Did I use the wrong term? Tax fraud, tax avoidance, whatever.

You can throw around the term "fraud" when a potential court of law has reached a conclusion, mate.

We probably won't sign him but at least we have a possibility. A few days ago I would never have thought that I would be reading a Ronaldo transfer thread this window (although we seem to have one every summer)

Jezus I can't believe some posters on here...

How in godsname can you not want Ronaldo ? What does it matter how much he will cost, that is something for the club to worry about. What does it matter that he is 32, he is still the 2nd best or even best player in the world atm and the way he takes care of himself he can be like Ibra and still go strong for many years. If there is even a remote chance of us getting him back than you do everything you can to make that happen.

It is not like we have numerous other quality players ligned up ready to sign for us. And it is also not that we are such a brilliant attacking team that we can do without his 40+ goals a season talent.

A normal football fan would cream himself to death at the idea of signing Ronaldo and not go saying he is too old or would cost too much money.

Also I'am tired about the mbappe stuff, first of all the kid has still got to proof everything and secondly if Madrid is all over him and he wants to go there, forget it, we aren't signing him no matter what.

You can either hope for a miracle that will see us get 32 year old Ronaldo back for £150m or you can deal with the fact we are signing 29 year old Perisic for £50m.

The people endlessly posting "move on", "ffs, not again", "can't believe this discussion has reached..." etc. do realise they're contributing to all of that by continuing to bump the thread and keep the discussion relevant?

For what it's worth, I don't think this is your typical transfer saga. I genuinely think Ronaldo and Madrid are having a standoff and it's a case of who blinks first. It's not like the Ramos situation where he had no intent to leave whatsoever and was playing his cards. Ronaldo may want to stay, but RM also have to begin to think about cashing on Ronaldo. If they sell him for 130m the whole Ronaldo ordeal is arguably the best bit of business... ever. To be fair they can probably demand that price from a Chinese club later anyway.

To me it seems Ronaldo wants RM to cover for him, to protect his own reputation. It reminds me very much of the Rooney sagas here. There has to be a genuine threat that he could leave.

Jorge Mendes, his agent, knows that well as Ronaldo has asked him to do everything he can to bring him back to Old Trafford.

Di Marzio is on the case?

Must resist muppet mode.
Must resist muppet mode.
Must resist muppet mode.

 Oh come on. I refuse to believe this. Stop it now. /thread please.

Because its not real. This whole situation and Mbappe is holding up everyone else's transfers.
