Honestly think crap like this should ban you from the thread. It's your opinion and you're just inviting a Messi-Ronaldo debate. Ronaldo is better than Messi in my eyes and plenty of others.
Wow, calm down, overreaction much? I was complimenting Ronaldo either way, and you completely missed the point. (which certainly isn't to start a Messi-Ronaldo debate ffs)

Complimenting him by comparing him to Messi? It's annoying. You obviously didn't meant to start a Messi-Ronaldo debate but it will spark one if you keep mentioning him.

404 people voted that they wouldn't want one of the greatest players in our club history, and the current second best player in the world (by a distance) back. A player who would instantly transform us into a contender on all fronts. A player who scores ~60 goals per season.

I voted NO. Even though I know he will transform us, he is over 30 and they will sell him close to 80M if not 80M. Which translates to me as they took the best years of CR7 for free.

would you buy two league titles for 80m?
as that's what I'm expecting if we get Ronaldo.

There's no guarantee that will happen though. How many has Ronaldo won at Madrid in six years? Just one.

He won three here and that was due to Fergie. I'd bring back Fergie for two years for £80m.

Ronaldo can only do so much against one of the greatest team of all time. And he's proven himself there by scoring goals (50+ goals in the last 5 seasons). I don't see any team in this league that can be considered the greatest. Do you?

One player wouldn't make a team. I don't believe that he would be the difference to win titles or not. Plus, the whole team would play to his strengths which I doubt LVG would do

This is insane. He's better than Rooney, and every other attackers at United.

And?

One player doesn't make a team. The three times we won the league with Ronaldo, do you think Ronaldo won it on his own?

Who says he'l win it on his own? He'd be the difference between competing and winning the thing.

It's about relativity. While we don't have a Barcelona to overcome, we aren't Real Madrid ourselves. The gap between the two was 2 points last season. The gap between us and Chelsea despite them not being Barcelona was 17 last season. And while us signing better players would cover ground whether signing ronaldo would be enough to overhaul it is subjective.

I'm going with probably yes.

Nope. But surely it would be different if we didn't have one of the best player in the world at that time. Don't you think so?

Why would teams buy better players, if they won't be the difference?

Yes, of course there's no guarantee. I just think with him here, he will be the missing piece. Liverpool almost won the league when they had Suarez leading the line. Arsenal become title contender when they bought Sanchez. Chelsea got Fabregas as their missing pieces.

Well he said he is expecting two league titles if we get Ronaldo.

Which I don't agree with. There are no guarantees in football. The only guarantee we had competing for the title or winning it was Fergie. But that's gone now. We now a normal club.

If we have the current squad and sign Ronaldo. I do not think we'd win the league with our defence.

Arsenal did not contend for the title last year.

They had more of a title challenge in 13/14, when they were top and then collapsed.

Ofcourse there aren't any guarantees in football. I disagree about whether we'd win with him but it's totally hypothetical and thus no point debating.

To be fair, Liverpool were brilliant that year. Sterling, Henderson, Sturrdige and co, and the "unit" worked brilliantly as well. And they still didn't win. And arsenal still can't properly even challenge despite signing Ozil AND Sanchez over two summers. Just goes to show how much of a team sport it is.

You think CR7 will give you two league titles at the age of 31?

What is next for Ronaldo now is France and MLS
Well it is possible. It's not like he'd be playing for Swansea. We have Rooney, Mata, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Carrick, Smalling etc too, who are all worthy of a champion team.

This is insane. He's better than Rooney, and every other attackers at United.
Like I said, one player doesn't guarantee you titles. Yes he's much better than Rooney but just because we play him doesn't mean we win titles. Otherwise, RM would have won La Liga and CL every year

If we signed Ronaldo, barring an injury, we would win the league.

It really is that simple.

EPL doesnt have a Barca. Not sure why you're bringing in the CL into it as no one has said we'd win that too with him.

Ronaldo would certainly win us the league just through his usual steam rolling of the lower table teams.

Our defense aside we'd be an incredible team. You certainly don't need perfection in every area to win the league, people forget that I feel.

Is this a freudian slip? Are you ok pal? What do they say or do to you?

Still can't believe that 36% of you wouldn't want us to sign him. Its Ronaldo! Arguably the best player in the world!!

We've already had him in his prime or at least some of his prime years, signing him now would be silly unless he was out of contract or Real did what we did with Wes Brown and let him go cheap for his years of good service, which ain't happening. A price of £40-100m would be mental for someone who's 31 and will sooner or later be on the decline. Yes he's in shape but its going to happen and all that signing him now would be for is nostalgia and feelings, not sense.

The muppet papers say we're going for him because he's fallen out with Rafa but they always say stuff like this every summer and each time he's getting older, coming back to a faster, overall stronger league. Bet you any money if he don't sign again this summer people would still pay big money for him 2 seasons time if they had to, because they're just all heart not head with him. There's a big reason why we only paid £15-£20m for RVP annd Bastian, because of their age so why would we pay circa £80m for a 31 year old? Madness.

I'd take him in an istant but there is no way he's coming when he's so close to being Real's all time top scorer in league and Europe.

Rafa Benitez has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Real Madrid after cooling reports that he could return to Man United this summer.

Ronaldo is said to be unhappy with Benitez's coaching methods fueling speculation that United are pondering a bid to re-sign the Portuguese superstar.

Ronaldo played a key role in helping Real to a thumping 4-1 pre-season win over Man City in front of a 99,382 crowd at Melbourne's MCG on Friday, and Benitez was quick to insist his player will stay in Madrid.

"People were talking about something that happened in a training session but you could see today he’s happy and he’s playing well," Benitez said.

"I’m really pleased because he’s scoring goals and winning man of the match.

"Everything is fine. In football you have to concentrate on the future, and the future is quite positive."

United, who sold Ronaldo to Madrid in 2009 for a then world record £80million, have made no secret they would one day like the Portuguese frontman to return.

But Benitez gave them no encouragement with his emphatic denial that the pair have a problem as they approach the new season.

And as Ronaldo boarded Madrid's team bus after the game he was relaxed and smiling after his super-show which City found too hot to handle.

Next year, muppets. Maybe then you'll have a chance of him returning, altough I think he'll be off to the MLS.

I wouldn't worry too much about the money on this one - normally yes (we don't have a bottomless pit) but Adidas would heavily subsidise it and we'd make the money back on commercials and then some

Actually I like this mini fights between clubs and here the comments are very soft compared to Marca. So, do you really want Cristiano back, wouldn´t you feel betrayed?
I'd have him back tomorrow and no I don't feel betrayed. He won us trophies then moved on as is his right. If he wants to come back now that would be great.

Ronaldo is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to score 40+ league goals a season, if he can and played striker for us, scored 30+, we'd win the league.

One player doesn't make a team but one player can be the difference between winning and finishing in the top 3, especially if the player is as gifted as CR7 is.
