He really comes across well in a lot of interviews I've seen of him since he became a manager.
Clever, level headed, sharp
Yup, there was always a mantra while he was playing he's not smart but he really comes across great whenever he speaks as a pundit and gives interviews and certainly a lot better than the likes of Rio, Scholes and Keane when he's on about Ronaldo.

The way Piers Morgan laughs after the 'its a good question' makes me feel so uncomfortable. It is so obviously fake.
Reminds me of a person desperate to bang the other and will laugh at everything they say.

I guess.... but I thought Mendes was at least savvy? That he wouldn't allow him this? Maybe I'm wrong, football people seem to live in another world
I’d love to know what Ronaldo’s relationship with Mendes is like these days. Maybe the latter’s failure to land him at a new club in the summer has irretrievably destroyed it.

Ronaldo is the reason I started following United (and football) in 2008. Was ecstatic to see him return. But this interview and his behavior this summer has been appalling. He's tarnished his legacy at the club and rightfully the club is removing him.

Wait a min. Did you think Souness was a great pundit till now?
Yes. His articularcy, his insight and erudition, his balanced and nuanced account of the respective stories of Liverpool and Manchester United, his moustachioed visage, his manly bonhomie, his good temper, and finally his sheer likeability had me convinced. Now all of us must deal with the bitterness of shattered illusions.

Wasn't my reason for supporting United. Started following the club properly around 2003 ish but I absolutely idolised him.
His pictures are still on the wall in my roon, at my parents house.
Remember coming back from school on that faithful fay in June 2009 to see he had gone to Madrid.
You would have thought someone died. I was devastated.
That day, I stopped having personal affection for players

Just thought about this the other day. Probably one of the best things to come out of this. All these assholes following and watching us just because of him (which is fecking weird anyway) will piss off again. I cannot wait.
Been the case for a while. Thank god for the newbie filter or this place would be overrun. They don't care about the club one bit. I feel sorry for his next club who won't have large enough support to outnumber them.

do you enjoy sounding daft? what worship...? oh wait, you made it up

the fellow on the same side of the debate as Piers Moron and Graeme Souness is calling me daft now? It’s really not a big deal once you own it: you’re not alone, and cults of the individual have existed for hundreds and even thousands of years, you just belong to one of them.

Strange, but I've never been his fan even during his pomp. Give me players such as Carrick, Evra, VdS, Rafael, Irwin...

He was brilliant but too robotic for my taste.

I've yet to tell my son that Ronaldo's a cnut. He's still doing the siuuu thing. When should I break it to him?
Let his bubble be
Minus his cnutish side, Ronaldo's still good an idol for kids but never let them meet him in person or watch his interviews.

Forgive me if this point has already been brought up in this 214 pages long thread, but how do you see the outcome of this in terms a divided or united squad ?
My hope is that Ronaldo’s departure will bring the team closer together and boost the respect for ETH and the management. My fear is that Ronaldo will try to turn players like Dalot and Anthony against the club and we will be back to where we were last season.

Has anyone mentioned, in regard's to Ronnie's shots at Rangnick, that Ralph was in charge of Schalke 04 for a short time in 2011 that included a CL semi-final against United, while Ronnie was on the other side of the bracket with RM against Barcelona?

never happened under Sir Alex  This was the man that got rid of Ince, RVN, Beckham and perhaps most brutally of all Roy Keane. Looked as if he was close to getting rid of Rooney too.
don’t forget stam - one of the best in europe in his prime. very similar situations too.

Because people confuse being eloquent and articulate with intelligence. As a teen and a young 20-something, Rooney was not comfortable expressing himself, it was pretty obvious, and is probably an introverted person by nature who comes alive in his comfort zone (on the pitch), but when you looked beyond the form, it was quite evident he was a relatively bright person, who could be interesting in quite a few interviews.

I've not been particularly surprised at how well he's handled himself through this, or since he's moved into management.

He'll be gone and that will be that. Players come and players go. It's not the first time we've moved on global icons, and it won't be the last.

It's all very dramatic when it's happening and the papers are full of it, then Saturday comes and it's all forgotten. As it should be.

I want the club to sack the sh*t out of him, and then never ever mention him again in any way. No players, coaches or anyone within the current United should talk about him or the whole saga to the media.

A clean cut here and now. Let Cristiano be the one that can’t keep his mouth shut while it becomes more and more obvious to anyone else, that his head is too far up his ass to realize, that he just ain’t the same player anymore.

Can’t believe how he’s thrown anyone else than himself under the bus. I feel like we finally are moving in the right direction on the field, and then this happens. Will never forgive him for not handling this internally instead.

What I can’t for the life of me understand is how grown-up people, who can reasonably get dressed in the morning and find their way to a place of work, can’t see the difference (in terms of respect) between sending someone on for three minutes at 6-2 down against a local rival versus sending someone on at 2-0 up to help see out the game.

The man literally said it himself, he doesn’t care about the situation because being a late sub is beneath him, but for his defenders to not fall the man out on his bullshit because they indeed feel that he’s been disrespected is baffling.

Nothing would hurt him more than disappearing from the public eye. We should replace his name in our record books with Guy From Portugal (GFP).

Souness believes he should be treated differently because he's "arguably the greatest player that's ever kicked a ball".

It's funny, because Souness' well know spiel, is about the best players being the ones who look in the mirror, when they wanna find somebody to blame.

And here, he's defending someone who is the embodiment of irresponsibility. Ronaldo looks in the mirror all too often, but not quite for the reasons Graeme would like him to. He will blame everyone but himself for his predicament, pointing the finger in the most scatter-gun manner imaginable.

The other funny bit is that, in this demagogy that Ronaldo presented, the Glazers were among those to blame for his struggles, even though they don't have real power and it's all up to the president and the sport directive. Souness' other well know spiel of course, is his defense of the Glazers and their spending.

It's just buffoonery at this point. Make it up you could not.

I highly doubt he'd manage to convince Anthony to go against ETH seeing as they have worked together at Ajax.

Is he still making up meetings and promisee made in his head and passing it off as fact?

Exactly. Sack him and publish it in a short statement with no quotes.

Remove him from any kind of existing PR-material, and make sure we’ll never have any kind of affiliation with him.
