Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

I don't know why you're linking a Twitter comment which says Cole was being 'humiliated". Ronaldo didn't skin him anywhere near as often as he skinned most full backs at the time. My recollection is that Cole came out in top in a lot of their encounters, and I don't think that compilation video disproves it.
I really don’t know how you can see that from this video. It literally includes all their encounters. I just see him fouling 80% of the time to “get the better of him.”
Ofcourse. Ronaldo had it tough against him though, didn’t say he didn’t.

So many excuses for the underperforming players there (ie Benzema, Mitrovic, Neymar, Mahrez etc) as compared to Ronado, just to fit your own agenda.
Neymar, Benzema decided to challenge themselves in the supersonic Saudi League. Both said their biggest dream just like any other player is to become the top goal-scorer in the uber challenging Saudi Arabia league dominated by Hamdallah the GOAT for so long. They also said money was not a factor in their decision because they are just too motivated to prove themselves in the most challenging league of the world, the dream league for every player.. Both expressed their frustration over underperforming relative to Hamdallah and said Saudi league is more challenging than anything they faced before

are you happy now? Does this fit your agenda?

By the way Ronaldo has scored more goals than Mbappe and Haaland too in Euro qualifiers this year. I am expecting more excuse from your nonetheless.

This is Ronaldo’s embarrassing tournament performance with the NT, basically shits the bed so consistently:

0 MVP award in a single NT tournament
0 goals in 8 knock-out games in 5 WCs
3 goals in 11 knock-out games in 5 Euros
a total of “3” goals in 19 knock-out games in 5 Euros + 5 WCs.... that’s how useless he is.

Even Goncalo Ramos scored a hat-trick in his first WC knock-out game for Portugal, even Pepe 40 yo defender has 2 goals in the ko stages for Portugal.. I am surprised someone like you obsessed with numbers did not notice these embarrassing key facts, but loves to highlight his spoils against mighty Andorra, Faroe etc., probably does not fit your agenda..

Another embarrassing fact for you, even Lukaku “the great” has better per game goal ratio with the NT than Ronaldo, shows how useful Euro qualifiers are for statpadders playing tons of games..

As for your laughable comparison with Mbappe, Mbappe’s hat-trick in the last WC final in a single game is equal to the number of goals Ronaldo scored in 19 knock-out games in 5 Euros & 5 WCs  Are you for real, comparing Mbappe at the NT level with Ronaldo? Mbappe has 8 goals in 8 WC knock-out games including 4 WC final goals and already established his name as a legend in WC history.

Also, Haaland in his first year broke the PL top goal scorer record, something that your Ronaldo could not do in 7 years in the PL.. Haaland’s per game goal ratio for Norway NT is almost double of Ronaldo’s..

Nobody cares about statpadding against Lux, Andorra, Faroe type of countries.. Portugal just beat Luxembourg 9-0 without him, they scored 27 goals in “7 games” in this Euro qualifiers, basically 4 goals per game.. Argentina scores around that number of goals in “18” South American qualifier games.

Just checked who Ronaldo scored against in the qualifiers because you seem too proud.. usual suspects as usual, 2 against Luxembourg, 2 against Liechtenstein and 2 against mighty Slovakia, mostly tap-ins as expected.. So impressive, now I see why you are so proud

France Football did a ranking of the "most beautiful goals" from 2000-2020. Cristiano Ronaldo's bicycle kick against Juventus ranked #3. They apparently did a separate ranking for CL goals; Cristiano Ronaldo's bicycle kick again ranked #3. In discussions about great CL goals, "physical" goals often appear. Cristiano Ronaldo's bicycle kick, Bale's bicycle kick, Zidane's volley, Stankovic's long-range shot, etc. You can find them on UEFA's website, FourFourTwo, Bleacher Report, OneFootball, 90 min, etc. Everyone is allowed their own preference, but it's a near-universal opinion that this kind of football moment is "beautiful", "magic", whatever you want to call it. It's not really something you get to define on your own.

Pure BS, probably one of the most ridiculous posts in this Ronaldo thread that is already full of delusional posts..

Imagine thinking a bicycle kick, or a long shot are the only things that football fans “universally” agree as the most magical things  I have never heard such a thing before. If you score a bicycle kick, then you can proudly retire, congrats, because you created equal non-controversial magic than Cruyff, Messi, Maradona, Xavi, Modric, Zico, Platini, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Laudrup and tons of creative geniuses in terms of magical moments. Didn’t you know a single bicycle kick is like 10 times more powerful than the magical moments Messi, Maradona, Cruyff, Zidane, Xavi, Modric, Pele, George Best created)))

Bro, magical moments are “universally” associated with magical players, and these are creative geniuses, wizards that can create these moments consistently out of nothing thanks to their GOAT level playmaking, creativity, dribbling, passing skills.. KDB, Ronaldinho, Messi, Cruyff, Pele, Maradona, Modric, Xavi, Zidane, Zico, George Best etc. do not need to score a bicycle kick or even score a goal or even register an assist to mesmerize football fans. That’s what’s meant by magic. Otherwise, even an average player will have a magical moment where he scores a screamer. There’s a reason why people call Messi, Pele, Maradona as the GOATs followed by players like Cruyff, Platini, Zidane, Best because these are all creative geniuses with out-of-this world technique, vision, playmaking, dribbling where goalscoring is a cherry on the top for them. These are the most entertaining players to watch and are never forgotten.
You don’t join this group with a random bicycle-kick here and there or a screamer outside the box.

As for your BS top goals ranking, there are way more impressive goals like Messi’s legendary solo goal against Real in the CL semis, Maradona’s solo against England probably the most beautiful goal ever, Van Basten’s goal against USSR in the Euro finals, Ibra’s goal against England, R9’s ridiculous goals, Bergkamp's goal against Newcastle and tons of others. Guy finds a ranking where Ronaldo’s random bicycle kick is ranked and then uses this as evidence that this BS is universally accepted as the best magic ranking))

A quick minute google search shows many other top goal rankings where Ronaldo’s “magical bicycle kick” is not even mentioned..

He said

"Everyone is allowed their own preference, but it's a near-universal opinion that this kind of football moment is "beautiful", "magic", whatever you want to call it. It's not really something you get to define on your own."

as if we are defining magic on our own and that kind of football moment is the "single most universally agreed magical moment" which is BS.

Especially when most career defining actions of "the most magical players ever" are not even just about goals or spectacular goals.. for ex., see Messi's unforgettable assists against Croatia and Netherlands last WC or Zidane's domination over Brazil in 2006 WC quarter-finals, Xavi/Modric/Ozil/Iniesta/Ronaldinho type of players' crazy domination & magical plays without a single goal in tons of games not to mention other legends from 70s-80s Pele, Maradona, Best, Platini, Laudrup, Hagi, Zico etc..

This.

i’m sorry, but some Europe groups are embarrasing. Portugal plays against some amateur sides in qualys for Euros and WC.

"It's going to be pretty tough, but it's about seeing how I am mentally, my motivation. If, physically, my legs treat me as well as I treat them? We'll see, they are small stages. Until I get to 1,000, first I have to get to 900. I think I'll get there," he said.

The former Real Madrid striker, who has scored 857 goals in his professional career, said he was "confident of reaching 900, but 1,000 goals is a lot".

1000 goals is surely be tough, but I think by end of his current contract he is likely to reach 900. Should he extend another 2 years he may get 950+, but we don’t know how much would he decline as he would be 40-41 by then.

Must have trigger you in some way as you somehow end up putting up these long reply just to prove a point, but sounds more and more like excuses anyway, which I couldn’t be bother to take you seriously here. It’s excuses after excuses for all these other players underperforming as compared to Ronaldo which makes you looking funny here.

What happened, truth hurt again? You were so proudly comparing his useless Liechtenstein/Luxembourg stats against underperforming Mbappe & Haaland  Below is all you need to know, you're welcome..

Ronaldo's NT career in a nutshell
0 MVP award in a single NT tournament in 5 WCs + 5 Euros

3 goals in 11 knock-out games in 5 Euros

So in your binary brain, Lukaku and Halaand have been better for their NT than Ronaldo?

He didn’t struggle against Cole, that’s a myth. I found a compilation of all their encounters. Ronaldo got the better of him more times than vice versa. They had fierce battles but Ronaldo never struggled to get the better of him the majority of the time.

https://x.com/cfcblues_com/status/1697021382645756174?s=46&t=I7L2X1jXcIgzcvdIlQLXIw

Funny that a chelsea fan posted that too thinking he did something.

Interesting to watch Cole in those encounters as he looked to overcommit qute frequently. He also struggled a lot with Ronaldo's speed and changes in direction. Moreover, it needs to be pointed out that he had a fair bit of assist especially from Essien down the flank, and still Ronaldo often got the better of them.

Pure BS, probably one of the most ridiculous posts in this Ronaldo thread that is already full of delusional posts.. [blah blah blah]

If you have a problem with the idea that Ronaldo has scored 'beautiful' goals or had 'magical moments' you are welcome to write one of your hysterical screeds to France Football and UEFA and demand a correction.

Yep. Also, Ronaldo’s ability to play either wing comfortably was impressive. He had very little weakness both on a physical and technical level. It’s why it’s disappointing when you see people reduce his career to what he was in his latter years.

Today, you have all these supposed world class players that can only play from one side.

They are probably too young to remember Ronaldo's prime - that's how long he's been around. Or just idiots I guess.

He's still got a little more than 1.5 years to go on his current contract, so he should reach 900 well before it is up if he keeps his current pace. 1000 is a big ask, but the sooner he can hit 900...

I'm hoping it's youth. Someone on this thread actually suggested that Ronaldo has never scored "an amazing out of the box goal in a game that matters." Just a hilarious thing to post in a Manchester United forum.

Porto puskas goal. Arsenal semi final free kick goal. The other counter attacking goal was mint as well.

Recency bias? Either way, he was a phenomenal player, and re-inventing yourself when you lose some of that agility and or speed is what makes him even greater. Ultimately, having Ronaldo in your team at 25 or 35 meant you had a considerably greater chance of winning a football match. Messi has adapted as well. Giggs was the master of changing his game due to age. He still had a burst of speed and was still fairly agile even at 39, but you lose the energy to keep going up and down the wing.

If only people celebrated his last goal for utd against evrton with the loudest siu he would have stayed because it wouldve made him feel appriciated, the best forward of PL forever under Ten Hag.

He didn't need to stay, his wages were atrocious

Is this what you got from that with your binary brain?

You should just go back to hyping up Saudi League and his crazy stats against Andorra, Faroe, Lichtenstein etc calling him the greatest NT goal scorer ever with 3 goals in 19 knock-out games in 5 WCs + 5 Euros, 0 POTT award..

And you are comparing "career goalscoring ratio" of natural striker/forward with a player who had spend considerable years playing as midfield winger? I mean, just grow up and be mature, surely you can do better than that?

Perhaps not.

He's still got a little more than 1.5 years to go on his current contract, so he should reach 900 well before it is up if he keeps his current pace. 1000 is a big ask, but the sooner he can hit 900...
Yeh I think hitting 900 for him is a given, he is only 43 goals short as of dated and he has 1.5 years to do it, and that actually looks easy for him given his current form (already scoring 38 goals within 10 months of 2023). But we never know how the future goes with his form and physical fitness over next few years, while he is approaching 40s.

But I think 900 is already a very significance milestone, considering how all the elites goalscorers end up in the past/present time:

900+ (Ronaldo? or even Messi?)
800+ Ronaldo, Messi
700+ Pele, Romario, Puskas, Bican
600+ Muller, Eusebio, Lewandowksi
500+ Di Stefano, Peyroteo, Seeler, Ibrahimovic, Suarez,

Playing in a rubber match instead of giving his peers a rub says it all doesn't it

sir jassims was going to bring him back home the moment he took over. and yet some people are still happy he pulled out of the deal.

Summary of Ronaldo's interview after the match:

"I am currently very happy.

I love playing for the national team. We played really well. Portugal qualified because we have an excellent team and an excellent coach.

1000 goals in my career? Bento da Costa (President of FC Porto) challenged me with this, but first I want to reach 900 goals.

Will my son be my successor? Let him enjoy his life, he will become what he wants.

My future? I don't think about the future, I think short term and always try to enjoy the moment."

He is still making a lot of money while playing in a less stressful league with less media attention in the twilight of his career. His body will also thank him for that.

The man’s a freak. His post 30 goal record alone is arguably the greatest decade of goalscoring ever seen

I truly believe that if he never left Madrid, he would probably still be their main man today.
The career choices he made after leaving them were simply suicidal (albeit doing reasonably well still) and at that age, there’s no recovering from it.

Had he stayed he would have likely had 2+ more CLs, probably 100+ more goals & minimum 2 more BDors (which includes the one in 2018 that he should have gotten) IMO.

Yep.
He wanted more money. Simple as that and Pérez is no fool.
The more money thing was less about greed but more tied into wanting more respect cause he saw Messi & Neymar earning more than him and felt he should have been paid as well as them.

The mistake he made was thinking he could leave a team that was so tailor made for him and going to a far inferior side at 33.

Ofcourse, he obviously didn’t realise the magnitude of such a decision at the time. He felt he could replicate the same level of success anywhere.

Ignored.
