Cristiano Ronaldo - Man Utd Player

Signing a 36 year old player in 99% of situations raises immediate and obvious concerns but this 36 year old is a freak of nature exception to the rule. He’s a walking incarnate of sports science porn.

Plus he doesn’t strike me as someone who’s interested in doing victory laps at the end of their career. He’s here to still go for Ballon d’Ors, Champions Leagues and Premier Leagues. No wonder him and SAF get on like a house on the fire. Both LOVE winning, not winning fecks with them and when they do win significant trophies like PL and CL, it’s a quick turnaround before they’re thinking of winning them again next season.

This is the best video I've found so far demonstrating the freak of nature he is. Highlights from last season...I just can't believe he's 36.

What’s the consensus with his legal trouble with the women in Vegas? I only ask because I have city fans putting stories on Instagram saying they’re “disappointed” in people they know celebrating Ronaldo returning even though he’s a ‘Predator’.

Woman.

No one knows.

I love all this stuff cos the one thing Cristiano thrives off is sticking it to his critics. I hope they keep talking crap about him. It will just fire him up.

I just wish they had the ability to ask the questions that should be asked, instead of claiming "United have given up" because we didn't move for Mbappe or Harry Kane instead

That old aging horse that has won too many races to count and is still the favorite for the next few races to come. Yes, that one.

it's not horse racing. Its not just a test of physical attributes, but also technical and mental skills.

Ronaldo is still elite in all aspects of his game.

2 years at £485k per week is £50m. Add on the transfer fee, and the entire package for Ronaldo will cost us £75m.

Can Ronaldo generate £75m worth of sponsorship revenue, prize money and stock market uplift over the next couple of years? I'd say so, yes. Comfortably so.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he covers double the club's outlay.

I'll quote myself because you must have missed my follow up post...

You'll do very well financially out of this for sure.

I was replying to some who said shirt sales would pay his wages.

The whole "shirt sales will cover a big transfer" line often gets used.

The commercial deals we’ll do with having him in the side will more than pay for him too

Yes he has lost some pace from his peak but WOW still got unbelievably quick feet plus the finishing and heading ability too

Seemed to play wide for Juve last season?

Juventus' quality and system regressed from Allegri to Sarri to Pirlo.

Tremendous regression. Bad football. Ronaldo was being supplied by the likes of Bentancur, Ramsey and Pjanic with his partners being Higuain and Morata. Those on United's bench, Cavani, Greenwood, van de Beek and Rashford would provide far better supply.

At United, Ronaldo will look around him and see Pogba, Fernandes and Sancho with, IMO, the world's best LB in Shaw supplying balls in too.

Chalk and cheese.

When he was supposed to go to City, ex players pundits, talksport geeks, all said what he could bring to them, its was this better that better. Now hes coming home same or more useless has been are saying the opposite.

I get it that these ex pool players etc dont like UTD, but look at this Guy Cristiano Ronaldo, 36 top scorer in serie A last season . There is no mention of that, and Lukaku went for nearly £100 million , and played in same league?? Hes had so much praise so much positivity. We all know they hate UTD , sometimes is plainly obvious, and Ronny will love this Bashing if u call it that, at 36 he will still have something to prove. Watch The Stanley Matthew's documentary , that will prove a player is done when he wants to be.

TBH Trippier would be a nice addition now so we can provide quality crosses from both sides. Still prefer a DM though

He'll enjoy playing with our forwards, looks like the Juventus forward lineup wasn't that tuned in with him.

I don't watch Juventus, but just watching the compilation above, it perfectly matches what you said.

Yeah the ABU hate will definitely drive him on we have already heard from the likes of Souness, Merson, & Holt

These wages are astronomical! Do not think he warrants that.

Tom Brady is a different sport with lots of pauses... not sure CR7 will be that decisive in Premier League and especially UCL.

That said what a transfer, wonderful to have him back!

The counter attacks are going to be terror. I don't think many managers would feel comfortable committing players forward against the kind of pace and finishing quality we have now.

Any further news on what’s actually happening with him? I heard a medical at some point this weekend then nothing more after that. Obviously he’s with the Portuguese setup for upcoming internationals.

How would we announce him after the rather innovative, old school unveiling of Varane? Is it really going to be like the old days where hes just there doing pre match warm ups on the pitch with everyone else before the Newcastle game? :p

Actually United stock also rise £212m in market value in just one day since Ronaldo joined.

The compliation is representative of him being very sharp, fit, fast with superb movement. But it's not representative of his poor set pieces, his build up play being poor and too many speculative shots.

Stick him in the box, just around it and he'll be superb. Expecting him to drop back, collect the ball from deep - thank God for Fernandes - and it will cause issues.

Whatever we pay Ronaldo we will easily recoup through shirt sales, mercahandising, new sponsorships etc etc.
The man is a goal scoring machine, i don't see how joining United will change that. He'll score plenty over the next 2 + seasons.

I'll tell you something, Fergie would never ever have signed a player with an eye on "stock market value".

If he really takes his goal scoring chances, then by the end of next season, there is a small chance he could be our 5th all time top goal scorer.

That's it. The way teams will stop ronaldo is to cut off his supply. Not sure we have the midfield to work around that.

Not true.
The rise was in market cap, and there’s no guarantee that it will remain at its elevated level, because stock price increase & decrease based on a number of factors.
Market value is completely different.

The Juve team last season had no goal scorer. Look at the team. If they didnt have Ronaldo the season should have ended worse. Its easy to say that Ronaldo "took" the team goals and make himself look better but the reality isnt like that. They would struggle to replace the numbers Ronaldo had put out over the years, especially finding someone good enough to replace him for 28m (Ronaldo fee).
Watch what happens to Juve this year without Ronaldo. He's been carrying them for at least the past two years. Even with Inter weakened, I'd honestly be stunned if Juve won the league.
