Cristiano Ronaldo - Man Utd Player

He scored 101 goals for Juventus in 3 seasons and already has 118 for Manchester United. With a similar output, he would be around 220 goals by the end of the third season and that's 33 goals off from Rooney's total.

It's not impossible but it's not gonna happen either. I would be surprised if he achieved 200 total goals for us tbh.

Scoring 20-25 a season will be major success. And for 2 seasons.

Some of the opinions on here are ridiculous.

Opinions like, "Poor first half, more lively in the second. Overallt not a good game but scored twice."

It just tells you the ridiculous expectations you have for a player like him. Cavani was by far our best No.9 before Ronaldo and Ronaldo IMO is couple of levels better, at everything. He's faster, better technique, better goal scorer, poacher, header of the ball, better striker of the ball, better att passing defenders. Literally everything Cavani would have done for us, Ronaldo is at least twice as good. He's the best No.9 in the league. Yes that means better than Kane, Lukaku etc. They don't have one year of outscoring him in his career.

If a player scores a goal in stoppage time it completely throws around the rating of his match performance. So, imagine scoring twice in stoppage time and turning the game around completely. There's three players that can do that. Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski. No one else is even close to their finishing. To think things like that "just happen" and to not include it in the complete match analysis is plain stupid. He did his job, won them the game, became the goat of international football and is coming home. Just relax and enjoy him scoring more than the rest of our front line combined.

This pretty much. The gushing over Cavani last year would have had you thinking he was prime RVN, and Ronaldo is literally better in every aspect besides pressing (which is being far overrated considering we aren't Liverpool and don't press for 90 minutes, it's much more situational pressing in midfield).

It's fine, I've said before if you took out the name and just showed people "Un-named striker" with stats everyone would be creaming themselves over signing him.

Ronaldo averaged 33/34 goals per season at Juve and they are not known for creating a lot of chances most of the games.

I can see him averaging around 30 goals here since we are able to create way more chances for him to convert. 20/25 would still be a decent output for him at this stage of his career though

20 i would call below average for him, 25 par and 30+ pushing us towards the league title.

If he has it in his mind to break our all-time goalscoring record, then he'll do it. This lad does the impossible all the time.

Yes but he is also aging. I agree he will easily score 20-25 minimum this season but to continue to score 30-40 goals for 3-4 years is a tough ask.

We're all excited, but this hilariously silly.

3 seasons "minimum"?
He's 37 in Feb! You think he'll still be here at 39, and entering a 4th season turning 40? Come on.

And he'd need 50 goals a season to be beating Rooney, which even with the shocking defending in this league won't happen, as 42 was his max here in his world class B'allon D'or days.
We'd need to win the champions league for him to win another one of those.

Come on man. He isn’t and won’t score 130+ goals in his stint here no matter how long that is. Rashford and Greenwood if they spend their entire careers here have a chance of breaking Rooney’s record.

I get what you're both saying lads, and like I said, if it was anyone else I wouldn't have even considered it as even the most remote of possibilities, but Ronaldo is just built differently.

I could be very wrong of course, but I just have that feeling that this is what he's looking to accomplish here. He said he had unfinished business. What is there left for him to achieve? He literally won everything there was to win here. He already had the adulation of the fans, etc. The only thing that's missing vis-a-vis Utd, is the goals record. That's why I think he's come with that in mind. And more generally, he has the Ballon d'Or record to equal or surpass with Messi. I'm not saying it's an easy task, or even remotely realistic, but equally no one thought that the kid with noodles in his hair in 2003 would end up becoming one of the very greatest of all time either... As I said, he tends to defy convention.

If he had come to us immediately after leaving Madrid at 33, he realistically could be breaking Rooney’s record in a couple more years which is outrageous.

Absolutely if he spent the last 3 years then he would easily break Rooneys record.

He’s a physical specimen, but he won’t be leading our line at 38 and beyond, surely. Even Ronaldo can’t maintain this forever.

If this is true then the speculation that Mendes used City to draw United out is correct and Ronnie never had any intention of going to City.

Bit silly to put the Rooney record as the target for him. I'll be very happy with 30 goals in all comps in the two (or three) seasons he's here. Hopefully 20 plus in the league.

4 x 30 goal seasons or 5 x 24 goal seasons. Anyone else I’d ridicule it but I’m just not going to write off his chances of it. Could you imagine it though?

  • Goes to Real Madrid, becomes their all time top scorer.
  • Goes to Juve and scores over 100 goals holding the 1st and 2nd spot for most in a season and most goals in consecutive matches (16 in 11).
  • Returns to United after 12 years and lifts a record held by Rooney who stayed here most of his career including all of his best years.
If he did that, he’d be above Messi as the GOAT IMO. Top goal scorer at both of the two biggest clubs in the world? Nobody will better that.

Just came across this, a little insight into the players thinking around the transfer. Have to say, Grant comes across as a cracking bloke and a good role model for the youngsters. United really buying into this mentality factor, even the 3rd/4th choice keeper seems spot on in what he can offer the squad still.

All of this “He’s coming home” stuff is just BS really.

But whatever you think of the signing, a real positive for me is that Ole will have no excuses now.
Ole is out anyway regardless of FA and league cup wins, it was always the title/CL or the sack this season, regardless of this transfer. We needed another box player, and we got someone who will lift the club no end.

If he wins the FA Cup and we put a good showing in the league like stay close at least till the end and close the gap further to City then he will get another year.

Such a good feeling after he signed. I’ve real hopes that we might do something this season.

If you genuinely think Ole would get the sack if he didn’t win the league or CL then I think you should prepare for disappointment.

Thanks for posting, nice little interview and agree, Grant comes across really well!

Yeah, Khabib is known to be a very trustworthy source not

Or he was using United to get him a better deal from City, which didn't happen. Depends how you look at it.

Ronaldo definitely took his top of on purpose to get suspended so he could get straight back to Manchester. It’s good that he’s been released early by Portugal, it means he can now get to carrington and meet some of the squad that is there.

 What's this Khabib guy relation to Ronaldo?

You'd have to be stupid to see it this way based on the series of events. City would have most certainly briefed that had that been true as they look like total mugs at the moment.

That’s what you call a team player

Any idea if he has to isolate or not? I was under the impression that he’d be fully vaccinated.

Yes, he has to stay 5 days in quarantine before he can join the team when he arrives.

At least that's what the news sources here in Portugal are reporting
