Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

The club should have been signing a striker either way. Maybe even two strikers as we lost Cavani and Greenwood. Ronaldo’s transfer status shouldn’t have any bearing on that.

The fact we were in for Nunez proves we wanted to replace Greenwood.
But if Ronaldo leaves we better hope Rashford and Martial are up to the task.
If not we will be really short up front.

Perhaps all this is just a complicated way to get that 25% deduction in wage topped up. If we truly want Ronaldo around, tell him we'll save him the embarrassment of no big side coming in and top him up for the season. At least we'll have a goalscorer up front for a year before he's off. We need Champions League football, this summer has proven it.

F that. Rather use that wage and continue on our rebuild.

Fair enough. Yeah we’ve made a catalogue of errors that led to where are today without doubt.

Most likely the plan is to have Ronaldo for two years, and easing in Greenwood as our main striker within that time frame 2 years and be ready by the end of. THe "mistake" started when Greenwood was gone, and the Board don't have any plan.

Why would any proper big club depends on 37 y.o. striker (that every dog know doesn't fit in the new manager's style) without adequate backup, is a question anyone wants to know.

I watched Seth speak about it, he said ETH wants the whole thing resolved quickly, if he goes he goes quickly, if he stays he works as hard as other players and go by ETH instructions, his antics wouldn't be indulged.

Too right he shouldn't be indulged Erik

Its heartbreaking seeing him go again and not fulfill the years. I get it. He doesn't have a lot of years left maybe 2 or 3. He could definitely smash europa league do I thought that would intrigued him at least. One trophy he doesn't have. Oh well. Sucks to lose our only goalscorer but my god he could have said it sooner. Lost out on Haaland, Kane and Nunez ffs. Now Martial and Rashford are our only hope ....kill me now.

We couldn't have afforded Kane, by the looks of it have prioritised De Jong over Nunez because couldn't have got both. The Haaland ship sadly sailed under Ole when we wouldn't agree to that clause.

If Ronaldo was the typical sort of footballer who realized that at the age of 38 he can’t and shouldn’t start every single PL match no matter what I think Tuchel may fancy him as an option in the squad. But you’re essentially forced to start him at this point or it becomes this huge controversy.

That and the fact that we like to press high are the two main reason I just can’t imagine him here. Way too much drama.

Still say he goes to Bayern if they actually fancy him.
Why would they? Honest question.

Why would they? Honest question.
Because he’d probably score 40 in the Bundesliga and will be super motivated to win 1 last CL trophy before the end of his career?

Yep thanks. Also Liverpool and City are by far the best teams in the world right now, so it is expected from them to walk over us.. so that initial argument has no legs..
Real Madrid might have something to say about that

Shouldn't have signed a 2 year contract then, should he.

End of

It does irritate me that he's pulling this after one season. We'd be better off if he left but part of me thinks it would be well deserved if he's stuck here for another year.

He really could of just told the club he wanted to feck off at the tail end of last season. Save us the time and drama to find a replacement. The last thing the club needed now is this media frenzy over him while we're busy conducting important transfer business for a massive rebuild.

I'll pack his bags for him.

That's completely fair, I just didn't want to be classed as "fanboi" or anything, I think he's motivated by personal accolades and not money.

He knows his window is closing and trails Messi in the following:
  • Balón dor: 5 vs 7
  • European golden boot: 4 vs 6
  • Domestic top scorer: 5 vs 8
He isn't going to come close to touching Messi's number of trophies as the latter has a comfortable lead, is 2 and a half years younger, and will continue to increase his count. So you're left with the big person goals that I mentioned.

And it's his last chance to make a push to close those leads.

Soooo Bayern might be interested if Lewandowski moves to Barca who will need to sell FDJ before they can move for Lewa. Should be wrapped up in no time.

No to that, i think its best for us to part way anyway. Think for all the romantics and nostalgia, we shouldnt have sign him in the first place. Our play was too revolve around him far too much last seaaon. Its best to start afresh. And really do we think his goals will save us this season. Alot of times, it looks like we play for him to score his goals rather to win the match.

If the last few days haven't been considered 'going public' then I don't know what is...

Just been a start reality check for those who felt that the club might've meant something to him rather than him and his legacy feeling that he's bigger than it

Let him go public. Does he want us to just release him from his contract? If nobody bids for him and to a acceptable standard that's not our fault

If he wants to force a move then hurry. Don't drag it till the end of the transfer window

Ralf Rangnick ‘repeatedly told Man Utd to flog Cristiano Ronaldo just five months after his sensational transfer return’
NINTCHDBPICT000706180966.jpg

“On more than one occasion Rangnick proposed to football director John Murtough and chief executive officer Richard Arnold that Ronaldo be sold, and replaced, during the January transfer window.

“Rangnick felt that as Ronaldo’s time at United was uncertain beyond the end of the season, it made sense to act sooner rather than later to reconfigure the side’s attack.

“Additionally, Rangnick believed Ronaldo did not represent United’s long-term success and that recruiting a player more suited to his high-pressing style might produce immediate dividends for the second half of the campaign. Murtough and Arnold resisted.”

Now Ronaldo, who has been granted more time off in pre-season despite the rest of the squad returning to Carrington today, has shocked the football world by asking for a transfer himself.

So this report you posted was as early as January. Therefore why are people so adamant that he spoiled our transfer window. Surely the club would have had the foresight to have a replacement lined up? Heck, the club should be signing a striker regardless of him staying or not.

I guarantee that if this news came out in the mainstream media as early as back then our transfers would still be the same as it is right now. The fact that we’ve struggled to sign anyone all window indicates that we almost would have signed no one either way.

The annoyance here should be directed at the United board for being so incompetent in the transfer market.
I agree
Everyone is annoyed at them. Also at Ronaldo for this shit timing.
I agree

Its a difference trying to buy a backup striker with knowing Ronaldo is staying or a striker instead of Ronaldo if he's leaving. Ronaldo leaving surely changed the situation and the timing from him is awful. .

Also I've not seen this reports up until now, were they in the media in January or are just surfacing now which would be kind of strange.

Ralf also doesn’t have a clue and is a horrendous manager. After his second half of the season that was largely saved because of Ronaldo’s goals, his opinion carry’s little weight.

This. Why would we care about the opinion of Ralfie the Disaster. He was crap.

The quicker this shitshow finishes the better for all concerned. He definitely must not go on the tour as everything will be centered around him and it will just be a big distraction.

Don’t think there is anyway he makes the plane Friday - maybe the current family excuse continues but I do not envisage him back at Utd again.

Think the only stipulation from Utd will be that he leaves the EPL and surely that’s what Ronaldo would want too.

Chelsea being used to smoke someone else out.

Well he has until Friday to find a club or massively apologise to the team and the manager for undermining everything and start preparing for next season on tour. If he doesn’t come on preseason tour I see no way back. We shouldn’t grovel and beg him to come back — let him stay in Portugal until he finds a buyer.
There won't be a buyer. I see no club wanting him. And the Chelsea link. I don't see Thomas Tuchel approving it. Cristiano Ronaldo would hate to hear this but his days of challenging for the champions league are over.

I don't see us selling to Chelsea anyway unless they give us a great deal

From a football perspective, Bayern getting Ronaldo makes no sense for them. They win the league without him and he doesn't improve them for the CL, if anything he takes them backwards.
Ronaldo also isn't really popular with Bayern fans, so I doubt they're interested.

In general, none of these big clubs that play CL should be interested but one can never underrestimate how bad some clubs are run.

Ronaldo fanboys making excuses for him disrupting our transfer window. Everything that was in the papers earlier in the season was mere speculation. Ronaldo did not communicate with the club until now.

Ronaldo fanboys also want him to go to Bayern because they know it is the perfect club for stat paddling.

But going bayern will invalidate Ronaldo fanboys and fangirls’ argument of him loving challenges. Already joined Juventus when they were the sole horse in SerieA, now joining Bayern another sole horse. So much for elite mentality

I doubt it's about money. At this stage of his career money is secondary. Pretty sure ETH said he could search for a new club, otherwise the club would already had made a statement.

What's annoying now is that we have no offers for him, so this could drag on for weeks even if we're happy to let him go. What happens then if he can't get a decent move?

Its funny that he comes out and says he wants to leave but no one wants him:lol::lol:

Get yourself a club before you decide to publicly state you want to leave.

I would be happy for him to be benched under ETH

BS from a BS source.
If he lowers his wages demand, will Bayern’s management take him? I don’t see why they should but he does have great marketing value. Imagine the horde of fanboys and girls buying Bayern’s shirts

Has he skipped training again today?

Ralf was a bad manager, mostly I think because he doesn't have the people skills, but he knows more about football than all of us on here.

Ronaldo sucks everyone's numbers to feed his own. That's not necessarily his fault, but the numbers back this up.
