Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Independent of Ronaldo going or staying, I'm bemused at the lack of spine with our players.

This is the umpteenth time where someone has come in and asked them to be better only for leaks and tantrums and a group effort to get rid. You can already hear whispers in the comments about ETHs trainings. It's only going to take a few bad results for these same ones to turn. As fans, I don't understand being okay with that shockingly poor professionalism and attitude.

Agree. Those clowns are in no position to say anything about Ten Hag's training sessions until they start playing matches.

Embarrassing from the club.

Trying to spin this and make Ronaldo appear as the villain.

Shame on Ronaldo for being more ambitious than the rest of the squad?

Our confirmed signings is a back up LB and a free transfer.

If I was in Ronaldo's shoes I would leave too.

Let him go, there's no point in keeping him unhappy here. Looking at the bright side Ten Hag style requieres a more energetic player so this may force the board's hand in to bringing a new striker.

Letting him go could be our best business in the window. Getting rid of the biggest prima donna in the club.

We can then get a younger striker who is willing to run and press to suit ETH system. We will also be saving millions of wages while also get our future sorted out with younger striker.
100% agreed. Our squad will be a lot more balanced without him.

He could've given the club more time to search out a suitable replacement by maybe announcing at the end of last season that he wasn't interested in staying.

I'll be happy to see the back of Ronaldo.

Name checks out

A Madrid reunion makes some sense for both sides. Ronaldo goes back to Madrid after they fail to sign Mbappe (this time around) and we possibly try and sign Asensio who has 1 year left on his deal.

Benzema is coming off a Ballon D'Or season as the clear cut main man and will be club captain next season, don't think they're going to want to disturb that in any way.

They willingly let go of a 33 year old Ronaldo, they won't bring back the 37 year old version

I agree that this should be discussed regardless of what happens with Ronaldo this summer.

Yeah I could live with that

Jog on then

He’s been a United player for seven seasons and has tried to leave the club at the end of four of those. Some legend him.

But it isn’t Ronaldos position to go to the press and moan about what he sees as “lack of ambition”. He hasn’t even talked to EtH or knows the roadmap Erik has earmarked.

No defending Ronaldo here, already making our new manager look a fool.

Ronnie can request to leave, it is his right. But to do it publicly and not have the balls to come in and air it out with Erik is bullshit by him.

No one is bigger than the club, he can feck off on all accounts.

I’m not against Ronaldo leaving but could we possibly bring in someone that score goals? Belotti’s stock has tanked. I have a strange feeling we will give Lewandowski £400,000 if Ronaldo leaves.

The Chelsea links are strange considering what Tuchel demands of his forwards. I think the Bayern move is best for all involved. No one aside the players know why the team imploded last season, I think if Ronaldo leaves there's goals from other positions in decent form. Rashford / Bruno have decent numbers of the last few years (Marcus not so much last 24 months) if the club get two forward players it's a decent scenario.

As a fan I love to watch Ronaldo and for that reason would like him to stay. That said, I think him staying is not the best thing for a new manager and rebuild. As a new manager you want to create a certain style of play where all 11 players must run their balls off, develop as a team together and look to one and other to get out of a hole and rescue and win games when needed. Having Ronaldo in the team goes against this....

All 11 players run their balls off - Ronaldo legs are getting old it would be 10 players
Develop as a team together - Ronaldo is not part of a vision to build for the next five years
Look to one and other to win matches etc. - younger players will look to Ronaldo to save the day rather than step up (it is human nature) and we become reliant on whether he scoring a hatrick that day. When things don't work out Ronaldo gets upset and upsets the entire team

If Ronaldo wants to leave (I think it is fine for him to want to leave, it is his professional career and he doesn't have many more seasons) then let him leave, it makes it a lot easier for the club than saying we don't want you in a year or two time, a much better ending for a legend than when Keane wen for example.

It would be the best thing, best for us to develop a new team and best for Ronaldo who has one or two seasons at the top and wants to play in a team that is built and playing champions league football.

The wages released would allow us to sign a quality player with the legs to do what we want them to do

It's not rocket science it is the obvious conclusion.

You sound calm and reasonable and talk so much sense.

Get out of the thread. Angry and stroppy fans only.

We will miss his quality and experience, massively...but, I think it may be a good thing all round. Too much speculation etc , and if he isn't happy, he has to leave, and best of luck to him.

But... we need that goalscorer to replace him. (sigh).

Nah, you're embarrassing.

Chelsea is the most realistic move I think, but I also don't think Man Utd will agree to sell him to a league rival.

Very convenient family issues. If he doesn't want to be here feck him off. Pointless forcing him to be a slave, we've done that once already, poor lad.
