Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

... because people believe ETH is right in thinking it should be obvious to all professionals that you don't leave the stadium in the middle of a game you participated in?
Too many prepositional phrases.
Apparently, it's not obvious to every professional that you don't leave the stadium in the middle of the game ever.

Ronaldo could take a dump in their living room and they’ll find a way to justify it.
Hadn’t seen a player consistently disrespecting a club like that in a while, let alone the club that made him, ridiculous.
He could cheat on their partner, steal their dog and spit on their gran, they’d still argue it’s his “normal behaviour” and everyone is over reacting.

Any one who speaks dutch can confirm or deny that from EtH?

confirmed. ETH says in that interview that CR had some private personal issues and also that leavibg at half time is unacceptable. “We should be a team, so leaving early in the gane is unacceptable”.

ETH has been said by multiple Ajax players like Blind and Tadic that TH is véry clear in what he wants. Also ETH has proven himself to be someone to work on the team and not individuals (read back on why Noa Lang and probably also Dest left ajax). I actually was hesitant if ETH would be up to put his will on guys like ronaldo, but appearently he does. That is a good thing! And something Man Utd also really needs.

It's especially not obvious to Ronaldo who already did that at Juventus in 2019 because he was unhappy to be subbed.

Why does the rumour not make sense?

Most people believe Ronaldo wants out - very much so.

The idea that United are "secretly" trying to force him out makes no sense.

To be clear, it's obviously possible (likely even) that United wouldn't mind selling Ronaldo under the right circumstances. That's not the point, though: Goldbridge has been portraying United as actively wanting Ronaldo to stay up till now - because his basic narrative involves bigging up Ronaldo and pissing on United: this is just a continuation of that, but switched around shamelessly.

I have no problem with the players who weren't in the match squad leaving, in all honesty they didn't have have to be there most of them played a day earlier.

It looks like ETH is willing to 'take on Ronaldo' though. He wanted to put this interview out there and make it public, fair play to him.

He's a cnut that only cares about himself and is only going to cause problems. He doesn't make our team better. The sooner he is kicked out, the better
Say it once more just so I know you mean it. Make sure you use "fecking" in there too for effect.

Do we know who else left? Ronaldo, Dalot...? I really want the cliques gone, if Ronaldo is going to cause division its the last thing the club needs.
Like I said before, we had such a positive pre-season. You just knew it was going to become a shit show as soon as Ronaldo returned to the scene.

Even if we accept the argument that ETH authorised them leaving which he clearly didn’t. It would still be foolish of Ronaldo to want to leave at half-time knowing full well controversy already surrounds his situation and leaving wouldn’t make the situation any easier.

So why are people blaming Ronaldo when the manager made assumptions and didn't make his requirements clear?

Anyway, it's a problem for Ten Hag imo. He's not experienced the Utd fishbowl. This will be a week long press event.
He has actually reportedly made his rules clear, even minor things like having them eating together. You might want to be open to the possibility Ronaldo isn't in the right here.

There are loads of modern day fans who support players rather than clubs. Twitter is rife with them. Fans who will follow players from club to club, and who have usernames/profile pictures/profile comments all based on these players. Always based around Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, etc. I can't get my head around that, the whole act of supporting a player first and foremost, regardless of where they're playing.

They were in the match day squad? I actually don't know.
They weren't. They literally had played the previous day and weren't part of the matchday squad. Ronaldo on the other hand was part of the match squad and left before the game ended which is the egregious bit.

Symptomatic of a group of spoiled twats who run the roost.

Ten Hag should be creating a strict team ethos. Champions League final or pre-season against Woking. Behave the fecking same.

He should be creating a strict team ethos but not based on this particular situation. All those played a match in a different country 24h earlier and weren't in this squad. They didn't need to be there in the first place.

I assumed the rumour was that yes, Ronaldo wants out, and secretly we kind of want that too, although we're saying the opposite so as not to antagonize him in case he winds up staying. Which makes pretty good sense to me. Haven't followed Goldbridge's narrative, though, barely know who he is.

It's not that they're secretly trying to force him out. It's that publicly their stance is that he stays but privately they'd be happier if he fecked off.

The es did not play though, but Ronaldo did. Which is worse

There's definitely a trend with that but I remember watching the NBA as a kid and being a Shaq fan rather than a Magic/Lakers/Heat fan. I guess it happens when you have no real connection to the club.

Saying that, I would support whoever is in the right: club or player. In this instance, Ronaldo has spent the last month having tantrums like the spoilt man-child he is so I'd back Ten Hag. However, going back to the time Jose treated Schweinsteiger like shit, I backed the player.

Yes, sure - that makes sense in itself.

His use of the rumour (which, again, is probably/hopefully more than just a rumour) is ridiculous, though.

Probably should have made that clearer, tbf.

Oh dear...

Fellow fans please please support the manager regardless of when we have some shit results. He needs it and the hierarchy needs to know we value the standards this manager is setting.

Can see some of our shitty players getting ready to start downing tools the moment something doesn't work out - we need to let them know, we not here for this behaviour this time.

fecking get rid of him already. All was looking bright and back on track until he got back involved. Get rid of him and move on as a club. He isnt even good anymore, and I don't think Ten Hag wants him here either.

If thats really was a case he wouldnt be there

I can see the club hoping to get in Sesko then allowing Ronaldo to leave and it helps United's hand a little.

Exactly. Some didn't even come to the game. They were there as spectators, watching the game with no obligation to even be there in the first place. So them leaving early shouldn't be lumped together with what Ronaldo did. He was part of the matchday squad and left before the game was over, that's indeed unacceptable.

I'm almost tempted to speculate that ETH said "and others left too" just to avoid singling out a certain player.

Because it would actually seem weird if he expected the players in the box (who weren't part of the squad on the day) not to leave - but they did anyway.

Others who played the day before didn't even attend at all (I believe).

Unless, that is, others who were in the squad also left - but I haven't seen anyone suggest this.

I would just get rid to any club that would take him on a free.

You’d think if you’ve just returned under a new manager and new coaches. You’d want to impress with your attitude and application but to just leave early without permission is so disrespectful.

It’s the sort of behaviour which is just harmful to the culture that the manager and coaching staff are trying to create.
It's clear he angles for a transfer away. Self grooming/conditioning wise, clearly he's working privately to keep himself in shape. Doesn't look that rusty for a player newly return to training and having first 45 minute pre season.

Delighted that we've finally got a manager with a bit of backbone and strong ethics.

The team comes before everyone. Ronaldo is a petulant child and needs someone to put him in his place publicly.
The worry is that we don't have quality replacement. If EtH not only aims at Ronaldo but also the players on the stand then looking at our team, it may as well be Rangnick reign episode 2. Still have to play them, but they can decide not to listen to instruction, and even cryptically trying to put them in place publicly doesn't wolves the problem.

What a messy squad.

Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, David De Gea and Bruno Fernandes also all left early by the way.

Tells you it's more of a cultural thing that a Ronaldo thing but, hey, the narrative.
None of the players you have mentioned were in the match day squad except for Ronaldo. Some of the first team players probably weren’t even at the ground.

Ronaldo leaving is different to anyone else not in the squad leaving.

It’s encouraging that ETH is not shying away from confrontation when necessary, I’m glad he came out publicly to make a point.

If thats really was a case he wouldnt be there
Nobody wants to sign him is the bigger issue here. And the club probably doesn't want to just rip up his contract to release him. So we're stuck in a shit situation.

Whoever gave the green light to leave at half time just got put in their place

Ronaldo being difficult to force a transfer is predictable.

What I want to know is who were these other player who left the match early? These are the guys who will be sticking around next season, likely the same people who threw in the towel every time we went 1 nil down last season.

Name and shame them!

It’s funny how the thread is titled Out and many still think he leaves. Face the truth, he will stay, he will play Martial out of the starting11 after 4,5 games and goes on to score 25+ during the course of the season.
No he won't. Ten Hag's system will only work if everyone works as a collective which Ronaldo can't do. Needs every club he joins to become FC Ronaldo where he becomes the focal point and serving him becomes every other players main goal. If Ronaldo stays, EtH's role becomes seriously undermined.
