Cant blame him when we create feck all. No striker in the world convert all chances they got. I think the best rate is actually only 30%

The amount of excuses people make for Ronaldo is embarrassing. We have allowed a small club mentality to sip into the brains of so many of our supporters. He had one of the worst performance of any united individual this season. Both on the ball and off the ball i was watching with one eye closed.

p.s He also missed a sitter in the second half where Rashford skipped past a player and cut back the ball and Ronaldo hoofed it over the crossbar.

Looked every minute of his 36 years yesterday - 90 minutes on Tuesday at Brentford is going to be a massive ask based on that leggy display.

His legs looked heavy, like when you hit the gym and can't move them properly after. It's weird. In some games he looks very sharp but in others not so much. Maybe the training intensity went up.

That air shot was sad to see, he really looked off balance and his anticipation left him. I kinda wonder if his vision is fine. Some of the simple through balls he misses and gifts the opposition in attacking moves are bread and butter for players at this level

He scored a harder, last minute, a lot more important one against Atalanta. Sad.. fecking hell.

Thought he was very poor yesterday, looked knackered and backed out of 50/50 tackles.

Hope he’s rested on Tuesday, Brentford will pull us apart if we’re carrying passengers against them.

Or maybe it’s because he will be 37 soon?

I've been watching Ronaldo in his peak years for Real Madrid. Even then he always has off-form periods where he looks slow on and off the ball. It's usually him being tired or mildly injured.

needs to be rotated more often.

They make a big deal out of him being dropped but it’s clear he can’t play every 3 days anymore.

He’s miskicking and swinging at air balls all the time. He’s not taking chances that you’d expect him to gobble up easily.

Add in the fact his link up play is poor, it’s just not helping.

He did great to win the penalty and buried it with conviction so he came in clutch for the team, but I do wonder whether he should be used more as an impact sub every other match

To sum it up, even at the age of 36 he only needs half a chance to change a game in a second. He will still score goals into his 40's I've no doubt about it but I'm starting to swing to the side of his lack of mobility is hindering the side.

It's clear to anyone watching him over the last few weeks with the ball at his feet his speed of touch is declining fast. It was almost like watching the tin man move before he had his joints oiled yesterday at times.

If we alternate games with Cavani over the coming months it might help but for me personally we can't go into another season carrying a player in the hope he snatches us a goal.

This will be the exact same reason he was on the bench at Juve a few times last season. Ragnick will have to be strong because leaving Ronny out can cause a whirlwind.

He was shocking yesterday. What’s even worse though, is that he wasn’t even the worst player.

I still wouldn’t drop him though, even off-form Ronaldo can produce moments of magic, which we are still going to be relying on if we want to pick up points.

This and the absolute nonsense that surrounds him being dropped is part of the circus that is a big downside of having Ronaldo in your team. You don’t play him for one match and the cameras keep panning to him and the press conference is ‘so you dropped Ronaldo, why?’ Again and again.

Every player in Man City’s team is droppable, even when Kevin de Bruyne was on top form, but Pep wouldn’t have to deal with that circus.

Hopefully he can do it like his first performance.

However I am a bit worried - the way Rangnick is tactically setting us up with formations and play styles isn't really getting the beat out of Ronaldo. When he is in your squad, everyone takes a back seat to get the best out of Ronaldo - is Rangnick really going to do that?

Wasn’t a sitter that was far harder than it looked because yet again Rashford is incapable of actually finding his teammate with a decent pass.

He was poor but certainly think Bruno and especially Rashford hurt us far more overall.

Rashford had to place it there. If he placed the pass further forward it would have been blocked by the Norwich defender. It wasn't a complete sitter, but Ronaldo really should have done better.

True, their final ball have been shockingly bad, and almost nothing come out from them.
I wonder maybe its time to give more starting minutes to Greenwood and VDB.

If that's the case maybe he shouldn't go for a pass, maybe a cut back and shoot will be better.
The pass is really bad, as it goes behind Ronaldo's leg, while weight of ball is bit too quick for him to adjust the shoot.

Greenwood has been our best attacking player overall for me this season, there’s no way he should be sitting in the bench.

I'm sorry but that was still a sitter for Ronaldo standards. He made good contact and got the direction right just too much height.

Any chance to bash Rashy though right? Poor miss.

I think it could have been a couple of inches forward and still been made. Look that’s harsh to judge him on in isolation but every single pass of his is off by a small margin and causes our players to need another touch or lose the ball. It’s those fine margins that determine top players from average ones and Rashford just doesn’t have ‘it’ for me.

I don’t think so at all. Again it’s literally completely under/behind him. I wouldn’t really expect anyone to score that one, in fact I think most players completely miss it. Anything to defend Rashford though…

It was easy chance, he didn't even have to generate power with his shot. Just guide the ball and he messed it up completely. Not surprising as he looked poor all game and almost all touches too.

Anything to shit on Rashford.

Its a miss chance from a poor pass.

This 100%.
Let's keep it simple. Ronaldo needs to stay in the box to be effective. When he's on the pitch the players around him need to provide the shooting chances.

His overall play is terrible. The only thing he does well outside the box is playing target man for long balls.

His overall play isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination, in general. It was yesterday, but that’s hardly his normal level.

Look at it again. It’s the best piece of play from Rashford in the entire match so I’m not shitting on that. But that pass, as difficult as it was, needed to be perfect and unfortunately like so many of Rashfords passes recently it just wasn’t and ultimately that turned a simple tap in into a very difficult chance. I’ve seen enough of City to know that they don’t score all those cutbacks by chance, their players put the perfect weight/direction on it more often than not.

The last two performances are pretty concerning. His ability seems to have been sapped out of him like Space Jam. Some of his moments have been comical.

I think the rating on here was really generous for his performance. Yes, he got a penalty and scored, but his performance was absolutely terrible.

If he is going to carry on playing like that, we need to be looking for a replacement.

Whilst there are people saying he scored a penalty against Norwich, he also messed up a lot of our chances to attack.

It was a cross from his weaker foot and it was easy chance for any player. Even if Welbeck was in that position, I would expect him to score.

Ofcourse all cut backs are not scored, otherwise xG of those chances would be 1. And no, it wouldn't have been tap in as defender was in line and Rashford had to pull it back. xG for the missed chance was 0.66, which is one of the highest players can create from open play, only way players can create bigger chance is by creating chance from few yards and open goal.

Agree to disagree that was far harder than it looked.

Not defending him. I'd drop Rashford and Bruno for a few games definitely.

Ronaldo was abysmal yesterday and that miss was a bad one. Stop playing favourites. He lost the ball just as much as Rashford did. He was God awful. Never seen him fall over as much as his first touch was brutal all game.

Probably "terrible" is too much, but his overall game is really poor. He's being bullied around by opponents, a lot of bad passes and in general I'd prefer if he just stayed in the box.

He was poor, but no he didn’t lose the ball as much as Rashford and he didn’t break up quite as many attacks. Anyway I’d prefer we didn’t have to argue over which player was more garbage. It’s obvious that Rashford isn’t good enough at the moment and even more annoying when we have a better player sat on the bench.

His body is no longer keeping up with his head. His flame is still burning for more but Mother Nature looked in full swing today.

Enjoy him for the last year he’s playing football

Care to put a bet on this being Ronaldo’s last year playing football?

I’d rate his overall game as average to slightly above average on the whole. Norwich and Leicester were terrible though, no denying that.

He lost it nearly every time he had it. Bullied off the ball easily.

You're playing favourites.
