Cricket

We got a settled partnership right from the get-go. Good to see. It'd be nice to finish the series off with a win by 10 wickets.

59 for Trott, 67* for Cook. I know the Windies don't have the greatest pace attack out there, but this pitch isn't great for batting, and Cook hasn't had a decent knock in bloody ages. Fingers crossed he can make it all the way!

Cook gets out that way SOOOO many times considering that the cut and pull are the only shots he can play.

Gabriel bowls decent wheels, think he's gone over 94mph this innings. Can the way bowling speeds are measured differ around the world? Or is it always the same instrument/method.

Joe Root is class. Hope his back problems aren't chronic.

Sixth 50 in a row for the kid. Class indeed.

There we go - Another Century for root! Guy has been amazing.

I think Root has the potential to be one of England's best ever batsmen, he can dig in and he can bat quickly too, he needs to bat at this pace more often I feel. He's also got a bit of a golden arm.

Certainly wouldn't surprise me. Just turned 24 and already has 6 test centuries with a 50+ average, and as you say, seems to be more versatile than someone like Cook/Trott in terms of building up speed if need be.

Lovely to watch him play.

He reminds me of Graham Thorpe a bit.

Looks very pained at the minute, lots of grimacing. Hopefully I'm just reading too much into it.

Or maybe he's just grimacing at how dire its been since Ballance got out.

 Samuels. Someone needs to make a gif of that.

I'm happy for Root. Was always going to be a wonderful player, once they stop fecking about with his batting position.

 Gonna keep that looping. Amazing.

Even if this match ends in a draw, just seeing so many of our players get decent scores on a not-so-great wicket is encouraging to see - Trott & Cook especially.

Root is in great form. England will need him vs NZ and Australia. Besides his batting is entertaining and when in good nick, he scores fast unlike many England batsmen around currently.

we invented cricket to last 5 days and 5 days it should last. all you fancy dans with your strike rates over 36. if it's physically possible to watch and not fall asleep 10 minutes before lunch then it's not proper batting.

Ballance can drive someone to sleep any time of the day. Accumulates lots of runs though.

it's very respectful batting. he wouldn't want to dishearten the bowler by putting him to all parts. a dignified single or a slightly cheeky 2 followed by a quiet round of applause for the bowler and fielding side's effort and then taking guard once again and facing up to the next ball.

Never understood why there are local umpires in ODIs/T20s. Afridi missed that ball by a mile.

England West Indies test cricket is like commentary porn.

Windies collapsing.

Edit: stokes and samuels:lol:

Class from us... When's the last time we were able to say that? Now, another 50+ for Cook & Trott would be bloody amazing!

How many overs do we have to chase it down, for Trott to score 50 and England to win they need a lot of overs
