Cricket

Cook comes across as an overly-emotional tit. His field placements are all reactionary, he doesn't offer any aggression with his fielding or his tactics and he's now surrounded himself with yes men who won't question his decision making.

KP may be outspoken but he usually backed it up with runs, they froze him out in Australia and have made him the scapegoat. As I said before, what happens if Cook loses the next 2 series and continues to fail with the bat? Will they back him then too??

Edit: Appears that Piers Morgan's constant twitter bitching got to the ECB

Representatives of India Cements, who appeared before the Committee, contended that Mr. Meiyappan had no share holding in India Cements and hence cannot be considered as an owner of CSK. Further, Mr. MS Dhoni, Mr. N Srinivasan and officials of India Cements took the stand that Mr. Meiyappan, had nothing to do with the cricketing affairs of Chennai Super Kings and was a mere cricket enthusiast supporting CSK.

Disgraceful. Dhoni sitting in front of an official panel and lying to protect Srinivasan.

Been following this on news channels and followed in online. Disgusting stuff. I have no interest in watching a single IPL match. Now

Manohar, Dutta said, had told the committee that the "all matches" in the IPL needed to be investigated, an indicator of how deep corruption had spread in cricket's most lucrative domestic tournament.

Manohar an ex-BCCI president.

I'm disgusted that any Indian player -- Dhoni -- would stand in front of a panel and lie to protect a crook who is using the game for his own benefit.

He's the captain as well ffs.

This might seem kneejerk, but it is not.

I was mentioning this to a friend only last week:

I have found it EXTREMELY odd how Srinivasan is obsessed with the ACSU(Anti Corruption) wing of the ICC. If you look at the minutes of the meetings that Lalit Modi leaked, there is always talk of Srinivasan objecting to the wording of the rules requiring it to change.

BCCI remain the major objector(and I think the only) to the framework proposed by the ACSU.

After this coup in which BCCI, ECB and CA took over, the ACSU has now magically come under the purview of N Srinivasan.

Does no one else think this is extremely dodgy?

BCCI, IPL authorities everyone by now know that IPL is just 3 hour entertianment for people, just like a movie. I interacted with people and was stunned to hear that "maybe there is fixing, I don't care much. I treat it like a scripted play/movie." So, BCCI etc are obliging and making money out of it. All very sad.
On the topic, I hope CSK are fined heavily, but we know that won't happen.

And the IPL, Srinivasan and the BCCI have always been crooked and a national joke. They're just proving it now.

Disappointed in Dhoni, but not unexpected. The amount of money he must've earned over the years through that association would be equal to the GDP of a small country.

I would hope that this would be the beginning of the end for the IPL, but our cricket-watching public is too daft and fickle to give a shit.

Looking forward to SA-Australia series starting tomorrow. Should be a cracker.

Nothing will happen to Srinivasan. He's too powerful. Apparently more players have been named in the list, But haven't been publicly disclosed.

True. I don't understand the hue and cry.
Apparently he was sitting around whistling gaily after he threw his wicket away against Australia in the 5th test.

People are like "he whistled, so what?". It's like most people havent played any form of sport. If a team mate of mine did that, I'd have been absolutely furious.

Other things he did include calling a new batsman in team 'fecking shit' in front of him, texting opposition players telling them how shit his own captain is, in the middle of a series. He sounds like a immature twat.

Think this should've been handled better, though. Discarding him permanently not the solution, unless there's a lot more to it than released.

The TV show 'Switch Hit' hosted by Bhogle is sometimes very good.

I don't watch it regularly, but caught today's show on u-19 teams, today being the eve of the u-19 WC.

Enjoyed it a lot. Manjrekar remains the best Indian commentator.

I've decided that I'll waste my Saturday morning watching cricket. Intrigued to see Kuldeep Yadav. He's a chinaman bowler. I don't think we've ever had one in our history.

I am tuning in to see Kuldeep Yadav and Safaraz Khan.

Safaraz Khan's the 16 year old from Mumbai who made a century off 66 ballls against SA u-19 last year.

Samson we know all about. Look forward to his batting but we know what he can do.

There are others with good reputations as well -- Bains and Herwadkar.

I keep thinking "he's alright" but then I remember he's just 16. That is quite incredible.

What is even more incredible is Sachin was facing Imran Khan, Akram and Waqar at that age.

So glad New Zealand beat India in the test series!! I find it rather hilarious in fact. I just can't take the BCCI, ECB, ACB seriously anymore. The BCCI takes the cake for being corrupt and doing what it wants. O well, this test series is for the little guy. Im pretty much supporting any team that plays against England, India, Australia from now on. Cricket...beautiful game, led by money hungry, corrupt, greedy so and so's.

Salute Mccullum. India's bowling attack is so laughable

NZ and WI have made deals with BCCI, and Pakistan oppose the move because of India. Sri Lanka's board is heavily influenced by the Sinhalese government (bringing back Jayasuriya for 2 matches so that he can get make a name for himself FFS) and South Africa mainly opposes all the politics because it feels left out. There are no good guys, only bad in a worst bunch. Welcome to the party.

Dhoni would have been summoned as he's the captain of CSK. You make it sound like Dhoni took a bullet for Meiyappan.

To be fair Zing, Meiyappan could do a lot of things for CSK, but it would be a stretch to say that he's involved in regular team meetings with Dhoni. I still have no clear idea if Dhoni was summoned as a captain to testify or he acted on his own accord to give a clean chit to Clown Meiyappan. It's murky waters, and nobody comes out of this smelling of roses, but I wouldn't suspect Dhoni's integrity based on this.

Taylor is surely making himself a guaranteed pick out in SL, Robson's having a good time of it too.

Moeen Ali also must be putting himself in selection potential.

Matthew Fisher looks a top prospect for England.

Just ripped apart the Indian top order.

Safaraz, who is yet to come, seems like a younger Yusuf Pathan. I was thinking for a 16 year old he's competing well but at the basic level, he's not got a cover drive or a straight drive or a good defense.

Zol looks good in this game. Samson looks class, but got a good ball in this innings.

Although I suppose as an Indian, any bowler who can bowl 130+ and move the ball a bit looks a top prospect to me as it's already better than anything any Indian bowler can do.

Kinell, give him a chance.

Comparing him with Yusuf Pathan is writing him off. Have you seen Deepak Hooda?

He's a good prospect. Looks very calm whilst batting and is a good spinner.

No, I was just disappointed. I was hoping for a touch player, but he seems to have gotten to this level on exclusively power.

Hooda's at the crease now and I was thinking he looks a good batsman.

That moustache, though...

Kuldeep Yadav looks a fine bowler, btw. Very good control. The most mature bowler of the lot.

I have Star Sports 1, 3 and 4 on DishTV and none of them are showing the match. Are you watching it on Starsports.com?

Star Sports HD2 -- It would be on Star Sports 2 standard definition too then..
