Cricket

i've never understood or enjoyed Kallis genius.

I've paid lots of money to see Tendulkar, Ponting and Lara play live. I have not and would not for Kallis.

Odd as the stats speak for themselves, but Kallis has just 'never done it for me'.

Yea, he's boring. And not much of a match winner in the way the other 3 were.

Really?

Need runs or someone to anchor an innings - he can do that. Need wickets - he can do that. Need a safe slip catcher - he can do that too. The perfect cricketer in my opinion, would be the first name in my fantasy side.

I meant with the bat.

His bowling's fecking boring, too.

Well done Proteas! In the past we would've collapsed in that second test but we are starting to show some real quality now.

Regarding Kallis - I've watched most of our tests and Kallis is probably our best player post-isolation. Ill agree that he isn't as good as the other greats when it comes to winning a match with the bat. However, he is an anchor and really gives confidence to the rest of the team. What I find the most important about Kallis though is actually his bowling. On countless occasions in the past he has been able to get a wicket out of nothing - especially when our bowling attack wasn't as good as it is now.

His batting stats rival the likes of Sachin and Ponting. However, once you allow for his bowling stats he is quite a bit ahead of anyone else (in my unbiased opinion of course :p).

Malinga took 6 wickets for 7 runs in the Aussie T20 competition  Remarkably, that's not a record for domestic T20!

Starc is going to be immense.

Pattinson, Cummins, Starc.

3 of the best 4 young bowlers in the world, barring injuries.

Huge issue with them atm. I know they're young, and Cricket Australia is hoping, this is simply growing pains...but atm, they seem to be breaking down every couple of test matches.

Yea.. Not just them, is it?

Siddle, Hilfenaus, Harris.. although Harris has always been injury prone.

But man, Pattinson, Cummins and Starc are beyond awesome. Incredible pace attack.

Yeah, looking good for the Aussies on that front, need Hughes or Kawaja to come through though.

Australia need to drop Warner IMO. Not a test player. Their pace bowling attack looks ridiculous. I was impressed with Clarke's field placements against Sri Lanka.

Finn is very injury prone as well. Seems to be a thing with fast bowlers these days.

Aussie's batting is shite now Hussey and Clarke now.

Hussey and Clarke are in amazing form though. Also for god damn reason, I rate Ed Cowan.

Damn I meant to say that I don't rate the Aussies much aside from Hussey and Clarke. I like Clarke as a captain, he's better than Cook in that respect for me now.

Meh, they're quick but not particually accurate and they can't yet swing it. Siddle & Hilfenhaus are still the Ozzies main bowlers which says it all really. We'll see how those 3 develop.

You've not seen them bowl.

You've not seen them bowl.

Ive only seen them bowl in bits & pieces Down Under because they seem to get injured all the time.
They're undoubtedly fine prospects with lots of pace & aggression! But there's always a question mark with young quickies whether they'll develop into world beaters.
For me Starc is the best prospect because he seems to have the best action. But I'm not seeing a 'Glenn McGrath' in any of them yet.
If I compare them to Finn for example, Finn seems to me further in his development than any of those 3 at this moment.

You're wrong Rams. New Zealand and Australia have some great pace bowling talent coming up. I'm kinda waiting for Mohammed Aamer to come back, great talent.

Ithnk it'd be a pity.

I'm not as old as you but I haven't seen a better fast bowling talent than him. The way he bowled against England was amazing.

Yeah, he was very good. I'd have let him off the with a suspended sentence, but heh that's history now. As for natural talent, he had a lot of variety for someone so young. Shame considering the game could do with some great fast bowlers.

It's also a shame that Asif turned out to be a feckwit. Another extremely talented bowler.

Yeah, again loads of variety and averaging in the early 20s, which in itself is an amazing feet considering fast bowlers tend to be averaging nearer 30 thesedays. Serves him right though.

I love fast bowling, it's what I've enjoyed the most about the game.

In Umesh Yadav we've a good prospect IMO. Bowls with good pace and line. Not as good as other young bowlers but I think he's improving all the time.

Whats with Spoony and KM agreeing on everything? Get a room.

Aamer was awesome. Easily the most talented fast bowler I've seen in the last decade.

I don't like cricket

I love it

Cummins is the closest to McGrath out of the three. He has a great ability to make the ball move off the seem and shape it away from the right and in to the left handers. Very very intelligent bowler.

For the record above in the Pat Cummins debate.

My old man is a state umpire and on the board of local and knows his parents. They have both told him Cummins is injury prone and will probably never have a lengthy career they think.

I honestly don't see CA bowling him much for the next 5 or 6 years while he sorts out the issues with his injuries. Time is on his side but CA is not one for pushing people who don't stand up to the tests and htey tend to nurse a lot of players rather than extract what they can and discard them.

My old man and I both agree that we can see him not seeing a regular test berth for a good 10 years.

India v Pakistan starts tomorrow. That's my Christmas Day telly sorted now that the barsteward Murdoch's stolen James Bond from me and my dad.

Kicked off!

I mean, the game has started. Pakistan winning toss and decided to field.

Decent start by India, 37/0 after 6 overs.

Irfan is a giant, looks decent bowler with good pace.

Dhoni gone! Good spell this for Pakistan, hope we finish strong and restrict them to 140 maximum.
