Said it sometime back in this thread - there's a generosity to cricket coverage in Australia/England towards opposition players that is great.
Think that's stumps for today - I wonder where this game goes? There's enough time in it for a result to be very possible
Assuming Oz get the last wicket within ~5 overs. They will probably bat for ~70 overs to set a target between 350-400 for us with about ~90-100 overs left.
Just saw his FC stats, definitly feels like a left field pick on potential. He’s done well so far.hell of a pick.. hes played 20 games in first class cricket and averages 23.. how's he so good?
I kind of knew that NKR & Sundar will do well...The weird thing about this Indian team is just like that Perth test when you criticise the selection etc they somehow win the games but overall though the process is completely wrong. The number of changes in the batting lineup & order since the NZ series is absolutely incredible & mostly senseless.

Washington did a job there as well. I don't see where in the team he fits in because he doesn't look a good enough batter(yet) for top 6, or a good enough bowler.
His value is that his batting is always sensible, and never loses his head. He'd be an asset if his bowling improves(a lot).
@crappycraperson what do you think of him?
Bumrah having a Warne 2005 ashes series. Every other Indian bowler struggling and he's there doing it all on his own almost.
He's absolutely incredible.
McGrath when fit was having a great series too. England only won the 2 tests that McGrath missed

Lots of quality batting still to come - and Bumrah can’t bowl forever. I wouldn’t say ‘there for the taking’ just yet.Bumrah unreal, will cement his status in England this summer.
Australia there for the taking. Not much between about 6 sides in world cricket right now.

Separately… not sure in my lifetime I’ve seen a better performance from an opposition bowler. Bumrah is unplayable.
I don't mean today. Aussies in the box seat to take this Test Match. Just don't think they're a particularly top side, not sure anyone is at the minute.
Making for good test series around the world though.
Yeah, interesting. Aus heading to Sri Lanka in Feb will be fascinating.I don't mean today. Aussies in the box seat to take this Test Match. Just don't think they're a particularly top side, not sure anyone is at the minute.

Safe to say Australia are no England in these situations, it it was England they would been 100/1 or 70/7 with little to no in between.Bowling has been top class but not sure if it's been 50 in 25 overs level top class
I think they’ll accelerate when they have a 200 lead. Very slow rate at the momentBowling has been top class but not sure if it's been 50 in 25 overs level top class
Which city are you from? Did you go to any of the games?I think they’ll accelerate when they have a 200 lead. Very slow rate at the moment
Sydney - will be going for the new years test!Which city are you from? Did you go to any of the games?
oh awesome. I’ve never been to australia but have wanted to see a game at mcg for a long timeSydney - will be going for the new years test!
Ah you’d love it. Atmosphere is incredible. I went a few years ago and it was memorable. Might as well stay in Melbourne a month and double up with the Australian Open in mid Jan too. It’s basically a sporting festival for a month from Boxing Day to end of Janoh awesome. I’ve never been to australia but have wanted to see a game at mcg for a long time
They’ll pick up the rate though. Smith at least isn’t much like Pujara and Dravid. He’s more aggressive once he gets past 30 or so. Labuschagne has been a plodder all summer though, so that’s fairThis reminds me of the late 00's, early 10's batting.
Trott, Dravid, Pujara, G. Smith, Cook, M.Clarke, Younis Khan, Misbah ul-haq, Chanderpaul grinding out Test Matches at SR's of 30.

You and me both. Though in the context of today’s game, they can’t afford to bat at 2 an over for much longer. It's not a criticism actually,
I miss me a classical, technically perfect, test batter of the previous generations ilk.
The great sound of a perfect forward defensive push that kills a 90mph swinging ball dead onto the ground.
31* (118) isn't a score you see very often these days!

Ha, yep. Agree on both - Bazball needs a Collingwood-esque figure.I think England would love to have a Collingwood/Trott figure at number 5 when the occasional Bazball 19/3 happens!
Right now it's Pope and that's just
EDIT - realize you mean the Aussies! Yeah, they need to have a 300 lead by end of day to be honest. Hit 200 and then start smashing out.
