Cricket

West Indies have already shown more fight in one match than what we showed in four mathes combined.

Good on them, here is hoping Narine and Gayle comes back to their test team, they will be a brilliant team.

Looks like England will have a good chase, if the West Indies could get Gayle, Bravo and Narine into the mix they'd be an excellent team.

Gayle
Barath
Darren Bravo
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Dwayne Bravo
Ramdin
Sammy
Roach
Edwards
Narine

Just off the top of my head.

Trott was very lucky, umpires call saved him getting out for a duck - correct decision though from umpire Dar who is an excellent decision maker. A couple of early wickets tomorrow could make it interesting.

I've been quite impressed with the Windies attack so far against England and the Aussies. If they could get more consistent support for Shiv they would be a solid team.

You know watching how Narine bowled in this IPL, I don't think the England would've stood any chance against him. Not a single batsmen in the IPL(Even on batsmen friendly wickets) were able to pick them.

Glad to see Kemar Roach is back in form, class bowler.

Completely different games! But he does look hugely promising.

True but the way Sachin looked completely lost against him even when defending was amazing. Rare bowlers do that to him.

The IPL starts out as something to watch when there's nothing else on TV and then it becomes too boring even for that.

My team's in the final and I don't give a shit.

just thought i would give criccbuzz a mention great ball by ball info if you cannnot watch or listen much better than the beebs awful revamped site.

The second test between England and the West Indies is being played at the moment which has proved to be very interesting - England started like a bat out of hell yesterday by taking 4 for less than 80 yet somehow allowed the West Indies to reach 370.

Watch that instead.

i was at trent bridge yesterday not much swing for the bowlers , which you do usually get there ,only genuine pace causing any problems .

20/20 just gets boring after a while, unless Gayle is batting.

I watched India play in Australia a couple of months ago, the Australian team and spectators thought they had it in the bag when India still had ten overs to bat needing a run rate of about 8 or so. Very casually, they remained in sight but still needed a very strong end, hitting singles and the odd double. It gets to the last couple of overs and India starts taking it seriously, the Australians start missing simple catches, Dhoni deliberately doesn't take a couple of runs to get on strike and in the final over hits the six of all sixes to snatch the victory.

I don't watch an awful lot in the way of either but the only time I can recall something close to that in the traditional form of the game was in the first Ashes test last time it was in Britain when England was hanging on at the very end playing for time, down to the final partnership with Panesar showboating and the medic coming on and time wasting.

Twenty20 is a very different animal to ODIs and test matches but is a welcome one.

Another century for Strauss, he has answered his critics very well so far.

The English batters have a habit of getting runs when they are most under pressure: Strauss so far this series, Pietersen last year and Cook in the year before. Shows good mental strength for them to get get runs when there are calls for them to be dropped.

Pietersen did go a long time without form, and true to his typical self tried to get himself out just then.

This is going to sound ridiculous but I think I've watched so much 20/20 that I expect that to happen, seriously. The bowling pisses me off no end too, there's still a craft to bowling even in 20/20. Haven't seen any swinging yorkers, leg cutters, off cutters, nasty bouncers etc. in this form of the game, just shitloads of fecking slower balls. That was an ODI BTW which you've just posted.

That was also horrific death bowling, a slower ball in Dhoni's arc, brilliant, then to follow that up with a full toss no-ball, terrific.

Yea, I've been watching it. I watched even England v Bangladesh 2 summers ago.. much prefer test cricket over the other forms, personally.

A touch irritating watching WI, though. They've picked up a habit of never selecting their best players, even if available.

Gayle's available now and he's not playing. Sammy should not be playing, despite his hundred. His presence means their bowling always lacks that bite.

Ideally, I'd like to see Gayle, Barath, Edwards, Bravo, Chanderpaul, Samuels, Ramdin, Narine/Shillingford, Rampaul, Roach, Edwards.

I agree, I remember that series - they were alright batting but their fielding was absolutely abysmal, I seem to recall Trott averaging 11 an over at one point in that series.

Bowlers on fire! Windies 61-6, essentially 3-6.

Watched the last few overs of the IPL, excellent run chase from KKR.

I hope Kallis only had cramp and nothing serious, would hate for him to miss out on the tour of England.

Yeah also hoping nothing serious.

It was a good ending to the tournament.

He isn't the best bowler on the planet, Steyn is much better than him.

Be interesting to see this summer.

I think Jimmy is under-rated outside of England, where-as Steyn certainly isn't.

I certainly don't, I think he is world class but not better than Steyn.

When do England tour India? Until Anderson shows me something on those wickets, Steyn is not only better, but miles better.

Steyn
Tests : 54
Wickets : 272
Average : 23.18
Strike Rate : 40.9

Average in RSA : 22.27
Average Away : 23.25

Anderson
Tests : 70
Wickets : 267
Average : 30.05
Strike Rate : 57.2

Average in ENG : 27.02
Average Away : 36.48

Steyn quite simply a class above...look at how similar his numbers are home and away, while Anderson excels in the bowler friendly English conditions, but is, dare I say it...rather 'ordinary' when bowling elsewhere in the world.

Anderson is a fantastic bowler but Steyn's the better of the two.

England will go to India later this year. Will be an interesting few series for them, first South Africa & then India.

To be fair Anderson's record is skewed somewhat by his earlier years, Steyn is better in my mind but Anderson's really matured in the last 3 years. Anderson did a great job in Sri Lanka too for England.

Steyn is going to be a nightmare for the English batsmen on those wickets.

This is possibly the best South African team since around 99. Our biggest problem is that we have quite a long tail.
