Absolutely he’s great. But the best? I wish, but not sure I agree.
Well it's between him, Rabada, Bumrah and Anderson now. Rabada has been okayish whilst Bumrah hasn't played a test after the Aussie series. Anderson hasn't done that great in Windies. Cummins was the obvious choice.
Mentioning Bumrah in the conversation but leaving out Abbas is just daft.
Rabada is the best of the bunch imo. His strike rate is just ridiculous but jury is still out with the small sample size in Asian conditions.
Forgot about Abbas but he was quite average to his relative s/r in South Africa.
Wow, what an innings. It's pretty much the type of innings you dream about, 4th innings, the chips are down, difficult pitch, quality attack etc. etc. Mega stuff from Vishwa Fernando and Lasith Embuldeniya to drag Sri Lanka into a situation where they could have a remote chance of chasing anything too.
Test cricket is a bit jekyll and hyde at the moment it seems, been quite a few significant away wins in between a lot of drubbings. I think whilst the top level might not be as high as it once was, it's as close as it has ever been.
10 wickets at 24.5 in a three match series with the amount of overs he had to bowl and the lack of any support is pretty great in my book.
Pretty much. Took 8 wickets too! Fernando was chucked into the team for the recent Australia series after 3 of our front line seamers got injured. He has played a couple of tests before this, but was barely required to ball or bat.
His bowling action is vaguely reminiscent of the great Chaminda Vaas. Don't want to get ahead of myself though.

My knowledge on Sri Lanka cricket is based upon mainly on Andrew Fernando's artciles on cricinfo but it's sad how much of a cnuts SLC are.
He's going to get even better. Lost alot of years between 18 and 24 due to injuries but he's now starting to get consistency back into his game. Can't wait to see how good he gets between 28 and 30.
Sadly, cnuts doesn't even begin to cover it.
Also Andrew Fidel is an absolute gem and probably Cricinfo's best writer (although I may be biased). Amazing articles and content.

Why do England pick Rashid if they aren't going to bowl him? I can't imagine any other team in the world picking a bowler and then having him bowl just 2 of 37 overs in any match. Rashid seems to do this quite often, as we saw in the Tests against India, Tests against WI, and now this ODI.
Morgan better hope that Roy & Bairstow bail him out with the bat, his captaincy has been poor today

Taking nothing away from England, and particularly Roy who has been exceptional, our bowling has been beyond abysmal today.

Roy always seems to be huge in these big run chases. Takes the pressure off the middle order by smacking the run rate down to run a ball or less.

I still don’t think their bowling is anything special, for example I would prefer Aus or NZ ODI bowlers over England’s, but their batting is scary. They truly seem like a team that can just go out there and outscore anyone.
