Cricket

If Windies' first innings is anything to go by then they should be able to chase this down by lunch tomorrow.

In truth, the signs were there when we came here to the UK. Sam Curran massively bailed England out then. Now that he's taken inspiration from Jennings, England have turned into a disaster. No disrespect to West Indies, but I don't think they're that good.

Who are the losers of this all? That pathetic Sri Lankan team.

Definite signs about England being rubbish in Test cricket for a while now, probably since the last winter in Australia. Root winning all the tosses and India failing to apply a certain amount of pressure in key moments masked a lot of issues last summer, easy to forget the English test summer started with Pakistan absolutely annihilating England.

Yep. Hopefully this is a watershed. We need to find some fast bowlers and quickly.

Don't forget the tosses won by Root.

Can't remember a better performance by an all rounder in this decade than Jason Holder in the first two matches.

Let's go windies!

It feels good lads, it feels really good. First series win against a top 8 nation since 2012. Sport hasn’t made me this happy in a long long time.

Incredible.

What a series win.

Two comprehensive wins too.

Congrats brother. Cracking side this.

Congratulations, it's brilliant to see a West Indies side play like this, the sport is just better with a strong Windies side and this suddenly looks like a young team with a nice balance to it.

Delighted for the windies. Great way to win it.

Happy for you guys. WI have potential, that's for sure. The bowlers look superb.

Yup... And here I thought we were going to get slaughtered before the series started

Same mate, I thought there was every chance we were gonna get whitewashed. Surprised is the understatement of the decade.

Especially chuffed for Joseph after the loss of his mother. It’s no comfort at all, but I do admire him for coming out today and still performing so well in spite of what happened.

Yep,where's that idiot who said that he was nothing but a second rate cricketer?

Instead it could be a 'blackwash.' remember the days?

Knowing Windies, they will never win again for another 10 years, but it's a joy to behold when they play like this and win. Enjoy the moment when it comes I say

For sure. Great to see.

Well done to the West Indies, I have a tremendous amount of respect for their impact on the game of cricket and marvel at how such a small series of islands has produced so many wonderful players. It's always rankled me that I only got to see them after their domination of the game had ended. I still think the current lot are a way behind everyone else but it's heartening to see them with a bowling attack worth the name (again) and in Hetmyer and Hope they have some really talented batsmen. There's a real renaissance in top level fast bowling at the moment across world cricket, long may it continue.

As for England, they have no appetite or respect for playing test cricket and it shows on the pitch. Seriously need some fresh impetus on the coaching side of things.

I know some of you don't like him, but Dobell's in top form here:

If you kept driving your car into a tree, you wouldn't except your insurance company - or the police - to be pacified by the response 'but that's the way I drive.'

And if you kept setting fire to your house, you might think twice about cooking with paraffin.

But England's batsmen seem reluctant to accept change. Whatever the pitch, whatever the match situation, they appear to think that attack is the best form of defence.

Antiguan roads are not especially wonderful. They contain the sort of pot-holes which can swallow a family-sized car. But you wonder if, each day, Trevor Bayliss sits upfront with the team's bus driver urging him to go faster in a bid to reach the ground before the pot-holes can get them.

Don't know if we should be worried that we were clueless against swing, or if we should be relieved that our middle order turned up. Hardik Pandya has to be starting in the WC, given what he brings to the team. Rayudu has made a case, and Shankar has at the very least staked the claim for more opportunities.

Dhawan/Rohit need to be better against swing bowling.

Pandya has saved us the blushes here, but still a few short probably.

Given how the pitch was behaving early on, I think we're just on par.

Very happy for Windies. Hope they keep preparing pitches like these against all top nations visiting them and take opposition head-on.
