Cricket

Do Pakistan have some talented batsmen waiting in wings if/when Misbah and Younis retire? This should be last series for both.

Amazing scorecard:lol:

They won, as well.

ffs Pakistan.

Think Younis will be done after this series, whether he likes it or not. That double century in the summer prolonged his career, but it's come to the end now & he's been this way for a while anyway. Also reckon Misbah will walk away.

This will be over this time Saturday night the way this is going. Want to see Australia win but good grief, let's see a contest ffs.

CA XI is as far from Australia's first team as Australia is geographically from Pakistan. It's a shame that even they managed to bowl out Pakistan for 200-odd in the day. Pakistan got four wickets for three runs yesterday with the pink ball under lights. Pakistan's batting is a joke.
What I'd said.

Pakistan have always been sh!te in Australia.

Amazing what can happen to a team when you put some young, hungry players in the team. Australia's fortunes have changed immeasurably since the decision to give some younger players an opportunity to show their worth. Albeit it was easier to do that once the South African series had been lost. There are bigger tests to come but things are looking better than they were a month ago.

Helps when you have so much talent at your disposal. I've always been impressed with the Australian domestic cricket scene. You guys always seem to find great players, some of whom have been waiting for a chance for ages. Was it Hussey who had a late debut? Turned out to be a sensational player, didn't he?

Australia should give Pakistan one hour today under lights and try to get couple of wickets. With 55 overs remaining in the day, Australia can easily score 150 odd in 40 overs and declare.

Just heard Ian Healy willfully, call Nathan Lyon, Garry Lyon. Ugg, i know much has been made of the ''yes Garry'' fad but this is getting silly. People who either aren't in on the joke, or not from Australia won't know what the deal with this is. For those who might not understand, Nathan Lyon is nicknamed ''Garry'', after former Australian Rules footy player Garry Lyon.

I've muted Channel 9 commentary. Spares me the bullshit jokes and unrelated references to the commentators' own cricket careers. Keep that shit to Big Bash league please. This is a test match and it deserves proper commentary.

So, are you listening to a radio station or no commentary at all? I have no alternative at the moment hence why i have been listening to Channel 9.

Australia has the worst commentators in world cricket. India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan have some crap ones but Australia have an entire team of headache inducing commentators.

Didn't used to be like that. Bill Lawry, Ian Chappell, Richie Benaud and Tony Greig set the standard for a long time. Unfortunately, as we know, two have died, Bill Lawry only does Melbourne and Sydney tests as he is getting on and his wife is far from well and Ian Chappell sounds more comfortable on the radio. Sadly, they had a producer called Brad McNamara (who has google alerts set up for his name when his name is mentioned on the internet btw) and things deteriorated dramatically when he was the producer. He has since left, but among some of them, he has left an indelible mark.

Yea, absolutely. I really enjoyed Lawry, Benaud.. Chappell not so much, who'd whinge a bit but the others were the leaders of the pack.

Healy, Slater are a bit sycophantic and sound too excitable for test cricket. Same with the other modern cricketers who've turned to commentating in Australia -- not really enjoying it much.

England are the gold standard for commentary - Atherton personifies test cricket.

Amir out for 48. Pakistan have shown some fight. Too little too late though but something they'll want to build on for Melbourne and Sydney.

Decent effort in the fourth innings. Too bad their tail is useless or they could have pushed for 400.

Good effort & fight shown second time round, hopefully we take some of this momentum into the next match so we can actually make this a competitive series. The top order need to do a lot more if we're to win.

I wish they'd prepared better for Aus and NZ. Horrendous first innings batting has wrecked them throughout this tour.

It was always a suicidal schedule. UAE, NZ, Aus all in the space of three months is just mental. That's modern day cricket for you I guess. England's 7 tests in under two months was also an idiotic approach.

Yep. Nice to hear the Pakistan contingent cheering loudly. "Jeetega bhai jeetega Pakistan jeetega"

Actually impressed we managed to survive the day. Excellent from Shafiq. This Pakistan side have shown fight & determination since Arthur took over, but we need to be much more consistent, especially the top order.

Only saw the last session but that was amazing cricket. Surely the longest session ever? Too bad Wahab couldn't survive the last over. Would have left Australia mentally drained before tomorrow.

I hope the crowd turnout was better earlier in the day/evening? Know there was rain around earlier and play went on longer than the scheduled close of play but the stadium still looked way too empty. One of the biggest pro's for D/N tests was boosting the public appeal. I'm sure D/N tests have managed to boost TV ratings but it doesn't seem to have had an effect on actual stadium audience.

Brad McNamra is produing commentary for triple m.

Its actually pretty decent imo but i think it is more due to the people that they have on it.

There are too many people on triple m I refuse to listen to which is ybive steered well clear of them. It has been ABC or Macquarie radio for me, mainly Macquarie radio in this test even if the funeral themes ads get a bit annoying after a while.

Problem for Pakistan is that they're effectively 9 down. Rahat is about as incompetent as they come.
