Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

i think that will be it for today really.

There will probably be periods of rain every day in this test match, but nothing substantial after this evening

India should be loving bowling in these conditions. What if its sunny tomorrow, surely you guys want to get out there and do some damage.

At least we are the best unlike England who are big time bottlers to have never won the world cup and who we've regularly beaten comfortably in recent years in multiple formats.

The only cricket that really counts is test cricket. England have a far superior record in test cricket than India.

Can any of you guys shed any light on how Bresnan was allowed to bat for Yorkshire today (in the second day of the Lancs - Yorks game) when the decision not to select him for England was not made until this morning?

Dravid needs to move out of slip. I think Raina should go there, seems excellent at slip. But his fielding skills would be wasted there, so maybe Gambhir needs to have a trial there. He's a safe catcher and seems to be wasted in the deep.

Zaheer hamstring strain.

Brilliant.

The other bowlers have potential, hoping someone will step up.

Long sunny day today, Trott looking in great touch, Zak out for the test match.
:(
C'mon India!

Our secret weapon today. Not so much slow from Praveen Kumar either!

If it is a hamstring pull then Zaheer will be out for the series.
A real shame because you'd want the 2 sides battling for the no. 1 ranking to be at full strength. Certainly India have no where near the strength in depth in the bowling what England have even if Inida aren't a one man team.
I was also looking forward to watching Zaheer, he's one of my favourite bowlers to watch; a real magician.

It's a strained harmstring.

Don't worry England are useless cnuts by all accounts...;)

Trott is out!
Btw Zaheer is fit to bowl in the second innings.

That LBW decision against Trott was mighty close. After their veto of the DRS system for LBWs, it would have been nice for India to have missed out on that one! :)

Good thing right now is that England have batted slowly, if we can keep them around 210 before the new ball is taken, then hopefully we can crack open the tail or they will use the new ball to score quickly...

It's been a very unlike Pietersen innings so far. As crappy said, atleast England are scoring slowly so far.

Nope, I haven't seen the images but Michael Vaughan was convinced that he was out on TMS.

Think that was clearly out, annoying for India.

I don't think it should've been given as out. The replays were inconclusive and the benefit of doubt goes to the batsmen.

Btw hats off to Praveen. He is bowling a very large spell and has generally bowled very, very economically. Has looked threatening too.

That isn't a rule, for me as a bowler its a slightly annoying convention and when I'm umpiring I certainly don't abide by it. For me there has been enough proof that the foreshortening of the 2D image on a TV means that the benefit of the doubt should go to the fielder in that case, especially if he is claiming that he caught it.

That's the general principle that has been used in cricket for a long time. Oh and in this case Dravid said that he wasn't sure whether he took it or not. So that also counted in favor of KP.

This is not a 215-3 pitch. India have failed to make use of the conditions partly due to Zeheer's injury. Things starting to look good for England.
