I would prefer seeing Dravid openinig and Kohli at 3 in that case, though. Think Kohli's that good..
You mean Kohli over Mukund?
I assumed that the thinking was Kohli's in contention only if #6 opens up and they see Raina starting for sure, while Mukund might be required to open if Sehwag/Gambhir fail fitness tests.
Get Tendulkar to open the batting, it's clearly not working for him at number 4.
I would like to see
Ghambir
Sehwag
Dravid
Tendulker
Kholi
Yuvraj
Dhoni
If everyone is fit.
No Laxman?
I meant that Kohli could've spent some time in the practice match to acclimatize himself with the English pitches. Dunno why they've picked Mukund or VVS over Kohli though, both of them are acclimatized enough to the English pitches. The only excuse I could think of is that maybe he's jetlagged.
It's weird how some players are just dismissed from the selectors' thoughts regardless of what they do. I don't think players like Jaffer, Dinesh Karthik, RP, Irfan, Uthappa, Rayudu have even been discussed at the selectors' meeting for a very long time.
Irfan is another product of the T20, I guess. Looked such a promising bowler, had genuine capability of being an all rounder but is just now a slow medium bowler. Jaffer's absence is more puzzling considering they've picked turds like Vijay for opening our batsmen, but someone like Jaffer who has played in England a lot isn't picked. Karthik deserves a go also. Dunno about RP, Uthappa and Rayudu though. Rayudu was picked for WI series and didn't looked special.
What? Rayudu hasn't played for us yet..
Nope. You're thinking of Badrinath maybe? Rayudu hasn't debuted yet.
Some people are talking shit here. Dhoni is going through a terrible run in tests but you are telling me Parthiv Patel could have played that innings in World cup final?

I expect England to lose the 3rd test. We always tens to slip up when we are in control of a series. Did it against Australia and Pakistan last year as well.
Dhoni is slowly turning into a joke, it would be great if Saha get some runs to put some pressure on him.
Hopefully we'll have learnt from those experiences. Meant to be a full squad, with Trott and Swann fit, and Tremlett back in contention. Interesting selection dilemma.
Just announced the squad - Trott is out and replaced by Bopara, but Swann and Tremlett are in, and Finn is recalled as well.
I wonder if England might consider the extra bowler for this one, as it would be difficult to leave either Bresnan or Tremlett out. In any case, Bresnan was pretty much an all-rounder in the last test.

Why no 4 seamers? Swann has been a non entity this series and with Bresnan in the team you don't need his batting abilities.I'd stick with just the four bowlers. The bowlers should be competing with each other for those spots, not to change the structure of the team which is working so well.
My instinct says bring Tremlett back in for Bresnan, but it depends on the pitch and his fitness.

Swann won't trouble us at all. EverSwann will come good, he's quality and an important part of the dressing room.
