Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

I can't see any way England can loose this now...

Even if India mop up the tail quickly, that would mean that England could just as easily skittle India out. If England bat until lunch, it will be out of reach, despite there being plenty of time left.

This series has had a bit of needle, which is good, but if decision hadn't been reversed, the rest of the tour would have been toxic. Though it was a shame, the decision, seemed to take so much out of India, they completely capitulated post-tea.

No. Only the emotional retards would have reacted that way. The players with some decent sense in their heads would have taken it as a cue to respect the rules of the game and be geared on at the international arena. That's the lesson to be learnt from this, not Dhoni's kindness.

Don't know about that - if there was one side in the world who I would back to chase down 400-450, it would be India.

I like what Gavaskar said. It was a great gesture by Dhoni to withdraw the appeal but it would have been even greater if Bell had conceded his wicket after that. Not that would not only send out the message of playing the game the right way but also that the game is a highly professional one with rules in place that one has to abide by.

One thing the whole Bell's idiocy and Dhoni's kindness has done is detract the attention away from India being absolutely murdered on the field by England. Going at 4 and half an hour is just lunacy. It does show how good England can look when they're not being dominated by Trott and Cook.

India's bowlers on the other hand aside from a 10 minute spell with the new ball looked rather flat and just going through the motions.

It's very very hard to do that in these conditions. And you'd need the batsman to be in great nick to create history like that which really isn't the case.

Not to mention Englands bowling attack would have to have a bad day at the office combined with sensational play from India's batsmen - which they could do, but form would suggest otherwise.

How good is our tail?! They're not far off being described as all rounders at positions 8-10.

Hmmm if we had this line up: Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin, Laxman, Another, Dhoni (in form)

I would have agreed with you, that we would have still had something like 20-30% chance of chasing it down. Now it is more like 5%

England could easily drop Morgan and add in extra bowler to their team.

Imagine replacing Morgan with a prime Flintoff.

What a side.

Shame Trott got injured. If we'd had him at 3. He could've made a triple and we could've had a draw. Came out at 6 and got out fast, unfortunately.

Any of their tailenders could bat #7 for us. Not fair. BCCI should do something about this..

I've been thinking that. He filled his boots yesterday against the old ball and some part-time bowlers. As soon as the new ball appeared he was a rabbit. Bresnan & Broad together are like a number 5 batsman.

The problem is that Bresnan in the long-run will be dropped for Tremlett or Finn.

Not convinced by Morgan I agree.

Also good point on Trott. We have scored very quickly without Cook or Trott making a big score.

Not an excuse really, look at your batting line up but you haven't yet scored over 300 all series!

Only Dravid has performed so far...

It's not a excuse, we can't compete on your levels without Sehwag, Ghambir and Zaheer. It's proving to be a fact .

If Bresnan does well with the ball in the 2nd innings, I wonder how Tremlett will get back into the team for the next Test?

With all respect to Flintoff, I would back Broad to beat his batting and bowling records.

Broad is a much better batsmen but I still worry about his strike rate.

Admittedly this test has proven me wrong so far but he has had a lot of very sterile spells where he is just economical.

No he's right. We simply haven't performed. Even without those players we were completely bossing this match TWICE and now are in a position where we have something like a 5 per cent chance of winning. It's simply a case of us not turning up and England turning up big time rather than injuries etc.

Bit of a lame excuse. Strauss hasn't scored more than 50 in over 12 innings. Cook's average in the series is 5 ish and Trott is injured and scored 2. If your batting line up is only 3 deep, how did you get to ranked 1 in the world?

Don't understand something. Why is our bowling so bad we're leaking runs at 6/po?

In the first test at Lord's, Dhoni throws the ball to Raina and Pietersen takes 22 off a over, gets to his double.. but shouldn't Dhoni be thinking about making England work for those extra runs so that when India come out to bat, we'll have less time to bat out?

He did that in both the innings at Lord's.

Again here in this test.. they're scoring SO fast.. they've scored about 150 runs more than they should have and we're just letting it happen. Why is the third man region not being plugged?

We've handed them the extra runs to rule us out going for it and we've handed them the runs so fast that we're making playing for the draw as difficult as possible for us.

They've scored at 6 per over for the past 40+ overs..

The third man leakage has been extraordinary.

Harbajhan (spelling) has really let you down in this game offering nothing whatsoever.
