Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

England have completely turned this game on its head. First Broad's Botham like antics then Bell & Prior killing India. India will be under great pressure when they bat.

Yes.

Never seen a player so consistently seize a potentially tricky moment and turn it into an advantage. Did it against Australia, done it now against India. Too consistent.

Is Prior currently the best wicket keeper batsman in test cricket?

Didn't think that before the series, but yes comfortably right now. Playing like Gilchrist now days.

England have won 3 sessions in a row now. And that's the test match..

Can't believe it, genuinely sick that we've thrown it away like this

I still find it amusing that despite dominating 4 sessions out of 6 in the first two days, we were still not favorites. Absolutely pathetic display. One of the weakest displays so far I've seen from this team in last two three years.

This England team impresses me mpre with every test match.

Very encouraging performance this one if we can finish it off.

Two dodgy tosses to of lost, and various tricky positions.

To me it looks like India need to bring some new blood into the team. It looks laboured at the moment, both with bat and ball, and especially in the field.

Day over. Utterly outclassed by England today.

England have 417 in the day. What a pasting. Long kiss goodnight to that No.1 ranking. With such bowling, it's not deserved anyway.

Agreed with everything.

England dominated 90 overs of day three. India were the better team in the 20 minute tea-break.

cricinfo

Am I missing something? Why have India not addressed their bowling issues? Its been going on for nearly two years now.

Lets be honest here. Bell dropped a clanger Dhoni was well within his rights to appeal. The withdrawal if the appeal was political as Dhoni I'm sure sensed the crowds reaction. The ICC statements are a joke where is sledging in the spirit of the game?
1-0 the home crowd.

267-4 to 273-9 will end up costing us the #1 Ranking. Atrocious performance since then.

Ward interviewing Bell.

Bell basically lied when going off the pitch that umpire called over, and accepts he was foolish.

The Umpire did call over, but after the bails had come off.

Never seen so many runs scored at third man, and the issue not addressed.

So obvious runs were going to be scored in that part of the pitch with the bowl swinging.

187 runs conceded in the final session. 100 run partnership from 107 balls. As Boycott said, "You see better bowling in a benefit matches".

Means the ball was live.

No one's disputing the umpires did the right thing. The issue was with fooling the batsmen by the fielder on the boundary acting as if it was a four, nonchalantly walking to the ball and tossing it gently in.

Seriously, why has Indian's bowling always been spasticated? I enjoy nothing more than watching a cracking bowling attack, in particularly watching someone hurl the ball in at speeds of over 90mph, but Indians seem only to care about batting. I suspect everyone wants to be the new Tendulkar(Bottler) rather than the new Kumar Praveen.

Kumar was not fooling anyone. He did not know it was a boundary. It was up to the umpires to decide on that the fielder does not have to indicate to the umpire it crossed the line. Bell made the wrong assumption. Simple.

Most of the panel think Dhoni should not have reversed the decision.

They're just trying to be controversial to stir debate. Most people would agree sportsmanship is better than gamesmanship.

Sanjay was correct when he said there are a lot decisions made when everyone know they're blatantly wrong - where is the spirit of the game in those circumstances?

Was Broads hat-trick correct?

The difference is that Bell was 'tricked' (unintentionally) by the Indian fielder into thinking the ball was dead. It's the (unintentional) deception which makes it wrong to appeal for his dismissal. I agree with what Bumble said - it isn't cricket.

As an aside, the spirit of the game is also to have DRS referrals for LBWs and not unilaterally ban them from your games.

Did you see what Collingwood did versus NZ?

Sanjays point was fairly irrelevant and un-neccessary TBH.

This incident will be repeated extremly rarely in the next 100 years of Cricket.

The human error of umpiring is long accepted as a part of Cricket.

Players 'tricking' or misunderstanding situations should not result in an advantage to any one team or person.

IMO :)

Yes, and I think that was wrong. He should have done what Strauss did in a similar situation the year after and called the batsman back.
