Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

So we're getting a standing ovation for withdrawing our appeal?

Bit sad this. I'd rather us get applauded for playing some half decent cricket.

You should be proud that even when your side isn't playing at it's best it still has the balls to uphold the spirit of the game. Which, for my money, is one of Cricket's finer assets.

Bell was very lucky it was tea
As that gave 20mins for sorting it out

Had it been just a normal ball, then he would surely have gone

But again, I repeat, well done to Dhoni and India

Honestly I've barely watched a ball of today's play so I didn't actually see it properly enough to applaud our decision.

did they overturn this dismissal? Spirit and all!

Nope
They didn't, and rightly England and Collingwood got slated, it's very easy in the heat of battle to get it wrong as India and England and New Zealand with Murali did in the past...

As I said above, Bell was lucky there was that 20minute break

Anyway, back to back fours for Morgan takes him to 35 and brings up the 200 lead

Still 12 overs til the new ball

England players applauded when the indian team came out in contrast to the fans.

Nice try, but surely even you can see that the players would have been involved in some kind of discussion that none of the fans would have been

Really would have been better if Bell and Morgan came out first, and then India would have only got cheers

Anyone watching Star Cricket?

Gavaskar is embarrassing. Complaining about English players not applauding Dravid's century, cringeworthy stuff.

The fans (commentators and those viewing at home included) didn't have a clue they had removed their appeal, the players did.

True. Like the rest of us, the fans at the stadium only realized what had happened when the batsman walked out.

We've just thrown away the series here btw due to sportsmanship.

In cricket, better that than winning unsportingly
And I do think you are being a bit melodramatic about your chances

The pitch looks a road, or is being made to look like one by Bell

If we have thrown away the series it's through letting a HUGE advantage go on each of the first two days, not because of our sportsmanship.

Yeah, clearly that's what happened.

Again taking me in the wrong sense. I applaud the move, but Bell will take the match away from us right now. It wasn't in sarcastic tone.

The forecast for tomorrow is Cloudy I think. Anyway if the target is more than 350, then it's tough on any damn pitch.

This

Had England 88-6, and then 124-8 before allowing us to get to 221. England wouldn't have allowed India to do that

And then you were 264-4, before collapsing to 288

That's easily 100 runs that have given away
