Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

By that logic shouldn't England be winning things in football then. Their League is the richest in the world. The facilities there are great. The infrastructure is great. The fanbase there is massive.

That simply isn't true. At grass roots level English football is 3rd world country. Cricket has a far better set up, probably because it's expensive to play and it's run by posh people with lots of dosh.

The counties are struggling financially, though.

When was the last time England won a test series against us? Can any one remind me....

1996 (as I presume you already know...). God knows how we won that - we were a shambles for most of the 90's.

One thing though - why has there not been a 5 match series between the two sides since 1984/85?

In England and Australia it is. But I reckon 100 million Indian and Pakistani cricket fans would disagree with that...

Irrelevant. If 100 millions Indians started playing American Football it wouldn't change the fact that the NFL and Superbowl is the real deal.

After being humilated for decades by Australia and the Windies, white washed 5-0 on many an ocassion, India's recent record against England looks a little pathetic to be honest.

That's a bullshit argument (and you know it is...)

No-one gives a feck about the Ashes apart from us and the Aussies.

So what? Cricket is England v Australia the rest of it is a sideshow of irrelevant test matches, pointless one-days and execrable T20 shite.

No one cares about the Ashes apart from some posh cnuts in middle England and some cnuts in Australia who are trying their best to imitate them.

You lot are proper deluded. Just stick to posting rubbish about arsenal please. Don't plague this thread with the awfulness of your posts.

Oh the irony. Us beating you home and away in tests and dominating you in odis is pathetic

I mean of course THAT'S what's pathetic.

You are like the Man City of cricket. But actually slightly more successful. The Chelsea of cricket let's say.
If anyone is hollow its England with all their foreigners.

At least India doesn’t have to resort to stealing players from other countries to be any good.

fecking muppets. Comparisons to Man City and Chelsea
Ashes bigger than WC! Wonder most of the world watches? I mean I can agree, Ashes is big in cricketing terms for the two nations but to compare it with WC is illogical. I understand most are joking but when you write in a forum its hard to tell.

Those puny 1-0 victories and another 2 draws in a series? The Windies used to do us over 5-0 home & away. Now they were really good.

So in short we have established

1) England have not won a test series against India since 1996

2) England even with imperial power behind them could not win a single WC or establish themselves as dominant force.

3) England have retorted to stealing other countries' players to finally make a mark in international cricket since Englishmen were just not good enough.

Good stuff

Yeah and?

Show me where anyone said we are as good as the great Windies team or Oz of the last decade. We are the best team in the world right now but not in contention for best ever or even close.

Fact is you have failed to beat even some of our weakest teams since 1996. Embarrassing.

Those WIndies and Aussies side were exceptional, kinda like the Barcelona of Cricket. We aren't close to that, however we've earned to be the No.1 team right now.

So we didn't batter you. Well done. What an achievement. You're embarrassing yourself man.

Sums this thread up.

Er no its not. It's just another bilateral test series with a different name.

This thread cracks me up.

Another modern cricket 'fan' who knows nothing of the history of the game. I guess football started in 1992 as well didn't it? Ronaldo is the bestest player everer.

I'll say it again, The Ashes is cricket.

You can make all the rubbish assumptions you want about people you don't know and repeat all your misconceptions as many times as you want it won't change the fact that you're wrong.

And I quote:

 Clown.

Hehe, I'm only joking mate, obviously. Here's to a good day of cricket.

Yes, Ashes is cricket. Let's all wrap up and let the old imperial buddies enjoy the sport of cricket on their own.

Cricket is Malcolm Marshall, bowling with a broken thumb to take 7 wicked and win the test for him team.

Or the best team of all time, the Great windies, being upset by the under dogs Indian in the third WC.

Or Brian Charles Lara scoring a double century and batting with tail to drag his team to a test win.

Or Laxman and Dravid batting a whole day to rescue and win a test match for their team.

You can add about 100 things to this list.

It is you buddy, you needs to brush on history and watch a lot of cricket.

Oz-Eng matches before 2005 have been utter shit for close to two decade. Australia did not even give two fecks about Ashes during that time because winning it was a mere formality, it is only since 2005 they have woken up again to this rivalry. One the their best ever captains, called India the last frontier not England.

For me, cricket is Windies playing at the peak of their powers during the 70s and 80s. Such a shame we've lost them as a cricketing power house.

Cricket is about that though, that's where the game came from. I'm sure you wouldn't deny Sumo is Japanese and Baseball is American?

Just because we invented sports that other people actually wanted to play, doesn't mean that they aren't our sports.

To be fair the Brits invented all the big world games: football, cricket, golf, tennis, rugby.

So why post on an England v. India series? You're just a WUM

Just to change ther subject a little; Nasser Hussain comes across as a cnut to me...just an observation
