India's won

I had a feeling India'd sneak through.

Next one's pretty tough to call and all.

At least the Aussies won't win.

India 188-5 beat Australia 173-7 by 15 runs

Decent match, I missed most of it though, I thought Aus would do it in the last four but India bowled well...

I can't believe their holding the final midday on Monday I might have to miss some of it!

It's going to be close and tense - I'm not sure I will be able take it...

Monday 24th - India v Pakistan - Johannesburg (1300)

feckkkkk what a mtch! I never thought I'd take 20-20 this seriously but man that was awesome. Can't remember the last time I got so tense over a cricket match. Sreesanth, you fantastic bastard, made me eat my words there. Great bowling in the death. Bhajji, Sreesanth, RP, Joginder coming to our rescue after I'd just about given up on us. To the final.... :D

I believe it was Donado who said that and he was referring to the 20-20 format more than the India-Pak thing. Although it has to be said that we've overplayed Pak in the last few years. Still, doesn't take anything away from a final. Really looking forward to it. Never thought this format would get me this excited.

Why the hell is the final on a weekday? And to top off at 13.00.

Yuvraj Singh, the Man of the Match, says: "We needed runs on the board playing against a team like Australia. I just went out there and played as well as I could. I'm happy the way I'm hitting the ball and want to continue like this in the last game. India v Pakistan is always a big game and it's a dream to get a match-up like that."

Yes I see what you mean. Self-worshipping wanker.

It was funny watching India being hard to the ones who normally show the agression.. I think it was Sreenath when he bowled Hayden and then next few balls at Symonds...

(He's only only half size em')

Anyway... surprised with the hitting of Yuvraj - is he normally like this? - seems on form he'll have to be taken care of early in the final otherwise he could make us pay.. but then I guess the same could be said of Afridi...

The lads wont need pumping up for this match...

Good stuff. I take back everything I said about 20/20. It's the toughest form of cricket.

Seriously though if India win this WC, 20/20 will probably drive ODIs out of existence.

Rubbish, its a sloggers game - it will never drive out ODI's & Test Matches..both of which are richer in quality.

True, but the only problem there is that for each step up of quality there the customer base at the matches goes down...

This form is very appealing to fans, it has already pulled in many crowds, much more than the other forms...

At the end of the day money talks...

I thought the same but decided to give this format a chance starting with this world cup and I'm not so sure now, I can only see its popularity rising.

Unless people get bored of it which is a possibility.

As I said earlier the best hope of it not catching on was India rejecting it as it had done so far. But that's completely changed now.

Still think in the long term it would prove to be monotonous and given the amount of time invested in ODIs, it will go.

Fantastic bowling at the death from India, it won them the match, it not all a sloggers game.

There is certainly truth in that - bowling does have an effect on the game.

It has been one of the main reason's why Pakistan are at where they are because the whole unit of bowlers have been bowling well as a team often limiting sides to low scores thus taking pressure of the batsmen and eventually giving Pak a comfortable victory.

I've noticed this and here are a few figures too back it up...

Pakistan's results so far...

Pakistan 171-9 (20 overs) bt Scotland 120 (19.3 overs) by 51 runs
India 141-9 (20 overs) tie with Pakistan 141-7 (India win 3-0 bowl-out)
Pakistan 189-6 (20 overs) beat Sri Lanka 156-9 (20 overs) by 33 runs
Pakistan 165-4 (19.1 overs) beat Australia 164-7 (20 overs) by six wickets
Pakistan 141-6 (19 overs) bt Bangladesh 140 (19.4 overs) by four wickets
Pakistan 147-4 (18.5 overs) beat New Zealand 143-8 (20 overs) by six wickets

Only two teams have passed over 150 against them. A low score in 20/20 I would say. Also on both occasions Pakistan have gone on to beat that score suggesting it was too low - especially in the Sri-Lanka game. In the Aus game they were chasing at a run a ball so slowed their efforts down to make sure of the game.

Pak vs India final. And we'll maintain our record of not losing to them in a World Cup.

Yeah, but imagine if you lose that one solitary game. It will wipe out all the games you beat us in previously. :smirk: :D
