Covid Outbreak at Man Utd

Could this explain what happened to Lindelof?

Lindelöf took a hit to the sternum and experienced a increased heartrate and struggles breathing he couldn't explain. Unless the doctors find something actually serious its likely a heart palpitation or supraventricular tachycardia. Both conditions are usually harmless and provide the symptoms described.

If there's a covid outbreak its likely that whoever has it wasnt even aware. I just hope its not one of the unvaccinated squad members, in which case they can feck right off.

He’s saying they won’t get ill from it and it could be a welcome break if we have games postponed. Obviously whether vaccinated or not it won’t do anything to stop the cases happening and there will be a lot over the next few weeks in the PL. I think even the un-jabbed Premier League footballers should be fine from getting ill though.
Yeah I know, statistics suggest most will be fine but we’ve all seen what’s happened to the Bayern squad, specifically Kimmich who is out until after new year with a lung problem after getting covid

Ok cheers.

Most of them aren’t vaxed, which I understand if you’re an elite athlete, but again, it wouldn’t really matter anyway due to new variants

Didn't Norwich have a minor outbreak this past week, and didn't Spurs recently play Norwich before their outbreak?

Seems to me like this will follow teams around.

Lindelof's breathing problems might point at a mild covid infection?

Squad would be even bigger if we didn't sell Jaap Stam

This is not the case. The newest variant, omicron, may be able to bypass vaccination defences, some vaccines more than others, and to varying extent. However, while there’s not a great deal of evidence available yet, a booster dose will likely protect against nasty symptoms and is well worth having if you don’t want covid.

They said the first two doses should be enough to stop any strong covid reactions, and that omnicron is much weaker (but easier to contract) than the main variant. Are people getting the booster? Or is it only old folks, people at risk and healthcare workers?

Spurs and Norwich played a week ago and both teams got hot by outbreaks. Norwich played Newcastle before that, but we haven't heard anything from them.
Most probably it was because of Tottenham. Hopefully it's not serious and we can isolate the cases in due diligence.

The omicron variant, and if I recall correctly sometimes the delta variant, can get through two lots of vaccination (Pfizer is probably the most effective here). The new variant, omicron, can definitely get past the two vaccinations, but the evidence so far is that a booster (third dose) can prevent symptomatic infection in about 75% of cases. At the moment, it's those 40 or over who will get called for the booster by their GP/NHS; that age will almost certainly come down over the winter as the virus is currently spreading like wildfire, as they say.

With this new omicron variant that's currently spreading studies have shown it by far spreads the worst out of any prior variants. So this is something that's going to affect many teams for the coming 3-4 months. I suspect many games will be postponed and I wouldn't be surprised if a break happens again.

The NHS are working through the age groups re boosters. In England (not sure if the rest of the UK is different) the over 40s can currently book and I think that from tomorrow bookings open up for the over 30s.

Well not necessarily, someone could get it by just visiting Mcdonald's or tescos. Players and staff are living normal lives outside of the football bubble.

Basically there is no bubble.

Be interesting to see how many of ours aren't vaccinated. Does the premier league have any different protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated like the NFL does?

Basically there is no bubble.
The whole bubble thing has always been a sham for that reason. You need to go to a shop etc. The second you do that the whole concept of the bubble is lost.

I hope this doesn't spiral out of control and the damage is minimal. I guess one advantage of having a bloated squad is that even with quite a few cases, we should still be able to put together a decent squad.

If United have enough players to fill the 11 and bench I doubt the game will be postponed even if your missing key Players

Apparently the whole squad involved in yesterday's game has tested negative. So not much grounds to postpone the Brentford game, if we have 20 players who are available.

Let's hope it stays this way.

I think Norwich had a couple of positives didn't they? So as long as we only have a couple, and they're squaddies/youth teamers etc, no reason to call off.

Surely elite athletes would want to be even safer with their health and have the jab?

I imagine every club in the league is going to have about 2 or 3 matches postponed before February. Either because their own players are infected or because the opposition have an outbreak.

Happily, the Omicron variant doesn't appear to be too severe. So hopefully this won't cause too much damage to the health of footballers themselves. Either way, it's far too easily spread to expect everyone to get through it unaffected.

It's best to effectively see this as a chance for every side in PL to have an unofficial winter break. I'd be surprised if United are hit any worse than other teams in that respect. If anything, it'll give Rangnick a bit of extra time to get his new fangled ideas across (via videos, perhaps, but that's still better than nothing).

All adults to be offered by the end of next month.

It’s going to be chaos with this new variant soon, I reckon.
Wouldn't be surprised. What's most shocking to me is how they pack these arenas full with this variant spreading around like hayfire. Not a responsible thing to do. It's only contributing to the spread.

Presumably they are from LFTs. I don’t trust them. Is it possible that a few false negatives were given and some members were actually infected when they played Norwich?

I really don’t get that. I know it’s people trying to behave like normal as much as possible but we don’t live in normal times
