Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

Will the PL teams bar Liverpool be fine resuming the league on 1 June and then entering next season without a preseason or preparation ? And how are they going to deal with Summer market ?

This season is fecked up. Just move on.
The market is the least of footballs worries.

If anything in footy can be fully flexible without a great deal of consequence it's that, we use to have the window open for all bar about two months of the season.

Summer-market is gone. If you compare to other years. There are lot of other problems that accure if you resume league. How do you also play TheFA cup? How can teams playing in Europe finish the league when they would be legally bound to a 14 day quarantine after going to away games? I did some math and it would in worst case be 3 month period for us to finish the season. Incredible. What do you do if you get 4-5 players positive in same team? Contracts ending? Sponsors? What about social distancing? How can you have that in contact sport without breaking rules? What if R goes up and goverment says lockdown 100% again? There are billion problems ahead.

As I always said. Stop the league, give Liverpool title and try to work out the rest.

Legal minefield. We'll all sue Niall for culling us when we hadn't mathematically won it*.

*Only kidding Niall.

Showing off that he will not be culled as he's on first name terms with Niall.

Because whatever happens, voiding probably looks the least likely option now.

Despite all the obvious winding up of Scousers on here few actually thought a voiding was on the table, not for the last month anyway.

Holland didn't technically void their league though which is worth bearing in mind. :)

For me personally it's not about our potential league win being overshadowed, it's more to do with the fact that many on here actually believed the season would be null & voided, thus depriving us of the title. Had it not been for that then most Liverpool fans would have been deflated at not being able to celebrate the way we'd have envisaged. But as it stands, the past couple of months we've had opposition fans, not just on here, becoming sexually aroused at the prospect of a virus stopping our first title win in 30 years. So if we do eventually get to be crowned champions our joy will be rejuvenated thanks to people like you, & many others.

I'll be raising a glass of champagne in your honour.

Cheers.

Well aren't you the most irritating of the bunch.

Seriously, need to get rid of these liverpool fans, have never understood why they are allowed in here.

Mind boggles why they would even want to be on here. I know it's a lockdown but you must have very sad little lives to waste your time on a rival fans forum.

Can we not do that please. Am I the only one who wants the season to end now so that Liverpool doesn't get the 20th.

No we're here somewhere but getting drowned out by the do-gooders who would sit back and applaud a Liverpool title win and Liverpool tw*ts on this forum.

And how about not being able to prepare for the next season ? There're still at least 9 games to be played in the league. Will the clubs be fine merging two seasons without time for preseason or preparation ?

I doubt even today’s update will stop some people from banging the void drum.

Finishing the season now and deciding it via ppg is the most sensible thing to do. From a pure Football prospective it’s hard to maybe swallow because we will finish 5th and yet again miss out on Champions League and possible transfer targets. It’s also hard because we still had so much to play for but health must come first.
How about finishing the season now and voiding the season? Why are you for the option that fecks us over? Would still mean health comes first right?

Cull 99.9% of the scousers and put an asterisk next to the names of the lucky few that get to stick around...

as per usual you are just looking at the PL.

50% of players are out of contract in L1 and L2, Plymouth for example only have 5 players in contract past 30 June.

a transfer window is essential.

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...atest-sporting-merit-relegation-a9508601.html

Newspaper reports saying that PL teams have been told the league will be decided by way of sporting integrity if it can't be completed.

That can say what they like really. The credibility of the season has gone now anyway with such a break. Form out if the window, players unfit, injured players fit again. Even if they carried on as normal with fans and home and away the season isn't as it started.

I've missed a lot of today, why do people think Liverpool are getting the title?

We know voiding the league won't happen but we already knew that weeks ago. That didn't rule out the possibility of not having champions or relegations though.

Have they now said that champions & relegation will being going ahead?

Can you answer my question @redman5

Genuine question, what have i missed?

You've missed nothing. The league is no closer to resuming.

It's like the rest of the thread with the Scouse bunch misquoting people and making things up to suggest they'll get the title no matter what and everything else doesn't matter.

Yes, but there must be a limit to how many are allowed and the level of smugness soon to be spewed from them will be unbearable for some members.

I always said that they are here (oh yes to discuss!! as if) dressed as wolves in sheeps clothing.

For example: There are three/four of them who have taken over this thread and we can't discuss between us United fans '' could-they-void-the-pl-due-to-the-coronavirus''.

Very true. When does banter stop being banter and start being provocative nonsense? When not everyone shares in the joke perhaps and finds it quite offensive?

Seems the admins on this forum prioritise their all inclusive policies above actual Manchester United FC supporters.

No need for the push to ban opposition fans. Let's be real, they were right albeit many for what might have been the wrong reasons. For many of us, bubbling underneath the sentiments in the thread was also a silent hope the season got scrapped so Liverpool didn't win the league. Too many were projecting their feelings into the situation and a few even gloated it was over for them. No need to go e-lynching any fans unless they act like twats and start revenge trolling

If you still personally want the season scrapped anything can happen from now till june so there's that

Nothing has changed pal. No closer to football starting and no closer to anything being decided. Society as a whole is trying to navigate the bizarre government advice and are just about plucking up the courage to step outside a bit more yet in Liverpool that's like a bat signal to get the league back up and running so they can get their precious title.

It would be funny if it wasn't so self serving and callous.

Err, I think you'll find it was one of your own that brought it to the forum's attention. I simply searched for the article & posted it as per the request of another poster.

Isn't that the same as United fans in this thread who want it canceled simply to deny Liverpool the title (and Leeds their promotion)?

It's boring now. None of us have a say in it so we're all pissing in the wind. Sounds to me like the clubs won't allow it to return until it's absolutely safe to do so, and the option to null and void the season isn't there either for financial reasons. It's a difficult situation but there are more important industries to get up and running (like hairdressers for me).

I pulled a couple of people yesterday about making things up about the Dutch league and asked why they were misquoting FIFA/UEFA. @Finn MacCool and @Megadrive Man but neither really replied.

I get you all want to win the league but misquoting things and then trying to pass it as gospel is pretty wrong (just because you want to believe it's right) as many come here to look at the latest updates on what's going on. It's better to stick to facts and if you want to give opinion do so but don't tell people it's fact when it's not.

Think that's fair?

Oh and I agree. My hair is so long right now!

A combination of the government announcing that behind closed doors football can begin in June and that sporting merit will be used to decide the table if they are unable to finish the league.

Its the only 2 options that have been on the table for weeks, but its finally been confirmed today.

No of course not but there's a lot of posting in this thread based on agenda. It's typical football tribalism (which Liverpool fans are as bad as anyone for).

My girlfriend won't let me shave it. What a hair-nazi.

I largely agree with Kloppsy here. Whatever they do doesn't really matter to me. So I shan't be that bothered if they win it in shit circumstances or are given it. I'd laugh if they aren't just from the comedy jinx angle, but that's about it.

They will either over milk it and look stupid or whine on forever about being robbed. I'd rather it was the first of these, tbh.

Us getting all exercised in these circs is being too much a bit like what they are if I'm honest.

31 000 dead with more likely as Spaffson does his best cause a 2nd wave quite soon?

Let 'em get on with it.

What do you both have normally? At least if it's low maintenance you can handle lockdown with ease!

Short back and sides and cut fairly short on top. It grows quickly so I'm normally having to get it done every 4/5 weeks. It's been about 9 now.

I can still make it look normal at the moment but time is working against me.

Its lucky opposition fans haven't spent the last few weeks calling for the season to be null and void then? Nothing self serving or callous about that presumably?

I'm not sure what you're saying really.

How far ahead is irrelevant and the league might decide to do that if they decide to stop relegation and promotion with the consent of the football league.

In response to yesterday, how far ahead is very relevant because if Liverpool were 1 point ahead of Man City on 58 points then City would be favourites for the league as they have one game in hand and were due to play Liverpool at the Emptyhad, also Leicester would only be 5 points behind and Chelsea 10 points etc so even the most hardened Liverpool fan couldn't say that the league was over because it would be far from the case. As it stands Liverpool are 25 points ahead and only City can catch them and they haven't won more than 3 league games in a row all season and lost 2 of their last 4, so there's no real argument they would catch Liverpool. You could simulate the season a million times and it wouldn't generate results to put Man City ahead of Liverpool.

Why would the football league vote to stop promotion to the Premier League?

Does anybody else not really get why Boris and the Govt are getting so much stick about the announcement?

It’s pretty clear and simple really, he’s just let the people who can’t work at home go back to work and if possible avoid public transport.

I mean what are they supposed to do, invent a new form of transport? Perhaps a teleportation device, or just buy each person a car?

The whole reaction smacks of people pretending to be dumb (amongst the ones that really are dumb.)

It was either this or just stay locked at home, I’m not a Boris fan but I don’t understand what people expect.

A null and void wasn't really going to happen. I can't be arsed with Liverpool winning the title or not but the right thing to do always has been and should continue to be to end this season and only restart some months down the line. If they want to decide final positions like the French League or how the Dutch went about it, I'm okay with both but common sense has to prevail and football not restart so soon.

Wrong thread. You should be in the general

Believe me mate if Liverpool were only 5 points clear it would be definitely in the bag with you lot, have you forgotten the going to win the league songs in the year of the great slip ? Every Liverpool fan I knew were saying it was done which is what added to the huge comedy factor of slippy Steve and the belief of goal difference at Crystal Palace , even rushing to get the ball and get on with the game at 3-0 only to totally implode and give us 3-3 Crystanbul. The absolute masters of being gobshites (just punch gobshites into google maps for proof and see where it takes you). It happened again this year with Carragher and Keano where Carragher was trying to convince Keano that this Liverpool team were better than Uniteds treble team , Keane just said lets see your trophies at the end of the season and within weeks Liverpool were bombed out of the FA cup and the Champions league even though , as Michael Owen (another gobshite) said they pumped Atletico.

Don't you follow that voiding the season would cause United issues and deny us two trophies and euro qualification? Nothing self serving about that from where I'm sat. I think many just want this madness to end as the season is broken anyway. Integrity gone. You do get that right?

You keep repeating yourself about how many points you are ahead but mathematically is irrelevant. You've not won anything yet and you might never win it the way things are going (you'll be awarded it instead)

So what do the FA and PL do about this? United signed him until the end of the season to replace Rashford and have been paying for his services. If the season restarts we are weakened through no fault of our own if we lose him.

Where's the fairness and integrity here? The season is broken.

I agree there’s no fairness but like you said we signed him to replace Rashford and Rashford will back if we restart.
Fairness and Integrity are words we need to stop associating with football for the next few seasons due to the virus.
