Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

I asked first, provide me a quote of someone clearly expressing they want football back at all costs then I'll play your game.
You didnt ask me.

Your beating around the bush because youve exaggerated as much as the person your calling out

You saying those that dont want football to return secretly hate it, and others saying (if its even been said) that those that want it back dont care how many die, are being annoyingly hyperbolic

The self imposed measures some are taking along with the wish in some quarters to have these current measures until a vaccine are measures I would have expected for a bubonic plague.

I was an advocate of the intial lockdown because a sticky plaster solution was quite clearly needed as we as a nation were caught flat footed, now the death number is declining and all the measures are being put into place now is the time to find the way to coexist with it.

What does this even mean? "The time has come to coexist with *checks notes* a deadly virus".

It’s been made unbearable by the same few peddling the same shite over and over again all over the caf. Null and void the thread instead.

It became a bit more sinister I feel when Alabaster Codify (has he been banned now?) started linking people's opinions to them having mental health issues and it's rumbled on from there.

@Dancfc you're getting sucked in a bit here yourself. I said to you yesterday take a minute. I appreciate you're frustrated about being bracketed as though you don't care about public health but saying people here secretly hate football and don't want it back (or words to that effect) is pretty bizarre.

Top-flight clubs have been told that using up to 10 neutral stadiums will be the only way to complete the season.
Brighton say they are "not in favour" of using neutral venues because it may affect the "integrity" of the league.
Clubs near the bottom of the table feel it is unfair to play in such different conditions when at risk of relegation.

Don't really see the point of removing relegation and then awarding champions, CL and EL spots. If we play out the whole season, then relegation must happen, neutral venues or otherwise.

Yeah you can't finish the season but not finish the season. What's the point in doing it otherwise.

Cant access his page. Maybe he has been given a timeout because he went of in both the football and general covid threads

Sure. It's not my number one priority either. However this is a thread discussing how the Premier League Season should be concluded.

Of the two options, Finish behind closed doors or finish with the current table, which do you prefer?

Also in the event that we are unable to develop a vaccine or a treatment for the virus, how do you propose football deals with this?

''Of the two options, Finish behind closed doors or finish with the current table, which do you prefer?''
None of these two is my preference.

''Also in the event that we are unable to develop a vaccine or a treatment for the virus, how do you propose football deals with this?''
Football can wait not be pushed by Sky, BT and Liverppol.

''Sure. It's not my number one priority either.''
We all know what your number one priority is: anything that gifts the League to Liverpool.

It's a bit of a concern if he has as I get the impression he's really struggling. He has a habit of using this forum to vent in season and his focus seemed to have shifted to covid and his own desperation to get things back to normal.

I don't see the point of going to all that effort if half the teams will not want to be there as they've nothing to play for? Players aren't robots, it would all feel a bit hollow and pointless for them.

Would work out great for us though.

Sometimes this thought/question comes into my head:

Has anyone here had a relative or a friend who tested positive for Covid-19 or even died of this virus ?

Anyone with any sort of sense would say the same.

It's classic "this will suit us" nonsense from the Brighton chairman.

If you play it out - there has to be everything awarded.

There's a thread in the general for posters on the caf that have had it

Alright, let's move through all this sniping, and get back on track

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52517532

If someone has already posted this then apologies - I missed it.

What do we think about the idea of playing out the season, but still having no relegations?!

Utterly utterly pointless, surely!

Yeah it's a bizarre suggestion and I can't see it being agreed. The idea of making it worth the risk to play the season out is to avoid dispute and obtain a degree of fairness. This throws that out if the window and would surely make other clubs think what is the point?

In addition how do you crown league champions but not offer Leeds (or WBA) the same in the Championship along with promotion. You can't.

The more you interfere with the natural flow of things the more credibility is lost. This season's integrity has already gone now but this idea is mind blowing.

A friend thinks she had it on the symptoms, but obviously so mildly she was back to normal a few days later. I had to tell her to hold off getting back to running she was feeling so good so quick! I guess we'd need one of those "you've had it" tests for certainty though.

I feel for anyone who has a worse story obviously!

Deleted my original, as I'd obviously taken too long reading the posts at the top of the page, as I posted, then saw the exact same links a few posts above!!

It is absolutely unthinkable that you have the season played, as best we can, and then still decide on no relegations!

The whole thing is fascinating though, all the bonkers ideas, and the constant this won't happen / this might happen ups and downs we have!

He posted 4mins before you did?!
And I can click on his account just like I can on yours?

Yeah, completely stupid and unfair. No idea is going to suit everyone but as long as the majority vote then tough shit for those who don’t. Self interest and all that.

As in qualifying for a Europe campaign that surely has a massive chance of being scrapped for a year?

This is why I've been banging the drum to cancel the season. It's the only way to avoid all this rubbish. Everyone is treated the same way and we simply accept we can't finish it properly in the current circumstances. Yes the affect on teams will differ, and it requires a French or Dutch style solution that we can all debate, but it prevents things becoming even more ludicrous than they already are.

It doesn't seem to make any sense to play things out, there's too many barriers.

It's just that massive elephant in the room of how to settle standings.
Liverpool champs is probably the only cert across the 4 leagues of anything, bar a couple of "Very likely" relegations from Bolton, Stevenage and probably Norwich.

We were on about Alabaster Codify mate

@arnie_ni

Apologies, obviously wandered in half asleep post nap
And put 2+2 together as everytime I'm on I see Dan has made about 37 posts per page (rather than just occasionally doing 37 a page like me on here

Yes, fully agree (still !). You have remained totally consistent in this thread unlike some others.
This whole thing is driving some people Barmy.

Straight logical thinking seems to have gone out the window.

my own view is there are just far too many obstacles to overcome to continue with the season. If the integrity of the season hasn’t disappeared already it certainly will if they force through one of these half cocked ideas being bandied about.

I fully expect them to try though

This is the last post I'm going to make on this until a footy return is announced whenever that may be (unless another poster gets shamed like I am, especially by the hypocrite that wants a nine figure transfer to happen asap).

The reason why I said there's an internal hatred is because of the shamming of people who want football back it's not happening with any other genre/hobby. For example I have viewed a couple of Rugby forums (which is a lot more "risky" than football given the contact) and some want the return soonish a lot more than others but one thing that was a constant throughout was the respect of not only eachother but the game, if someone disagreed they would certainly quote them and explain why they think they're wrong but that's as far as it goes, no shaming just a simple respectful back and forth on the logistics.

I apologize to anyone you and anyone else caught in the crossfire but I don't apologize for defending myself and others against quite frankly ludicrous insuations, like I said I'll stop posting on this thread unless I'm either attacked again from this moment forward or someone else is in a similar way.

I 100% think and believe it should be scrapped next year, but who bloody knows with the desperation in football currently? If we see the PL restart, which seems bonkers in itself, nothing would surprise me anymore.

Well my wife works in a shop that has been opened throughout all this and would beg to differ with everything he said as i told him at the time.

Social distancing and other things can be implemented safely in a shop.

Hers has 10 staff and all have worked throughout this whole ordeal

What do they sell? It obviously varies depending on product. Books need to be constantly browsed without necessarily being purchased. The virus can stay alive on surfaces for up to 48 hours. Based on this principle alone, it is practically impossible to open a bookshop to a science-based safe standard. Of course you can take measures to reduce the risk of transmission in store, but that reduction will be limited.

I have couple of question to those who still want this PL season to be played. If we don't talk about moral point of view or death/survival/risk in general here are some questions.

What do you do with The FA cup?
What do you do with Champions League/Europa League?
What do you do with Championship, League One and levels under?
What do you do with contracts that expire in 1 month time?
What do you do with transfers? Do already agreed players get to play?
What do you do with sponsorship? For example there are some changes by clubs a certain date. From one manufactor to another.
How do you actually apply social distancing (if the rule is still there) in games? No touching? Corners? Walls?
How is it okey to play on neutral ground and take away home advantage?
When is it okey to get people inside stadium? And how many?

When does the time expire to finish this season if you don't want to ruin next season aswell?

There are tons and tons of questions that have to be answered. As I said, the best thing is to cancel the season. Give Liverpool title. Move on and start planing for future.

Some very relevant questions but you cannot give Liverpoo* the title as the maths has not spoken yet,

I don't understand the last few discussions in this thread
  1. 300 people shopping at supermarkets should mean that everybody's happy and the number is comparable to millions of PL watchers around the world because it's the most popular league in the world??? (hint: people actually did watch football together. They make bets, They drink, They celebrate together. It's a social event)
  2. Not wanting football to resume = football haters???
  3. Trying to save more lives is pointless when There are already people whose live are at risk right now, so might as well give it a go???
Baseless and biased. They're paraphrashing "I wanna get top 4", "I want my club to be able to sign new players", "I want my club to win the league" in a weird way.

There's massive internalised hatred in football, this pandemic has really brought that right to the fore. I knew it wasn't well thought off by outsiders but I never realized the same low feeling of the game existed within aswell (not to this extent anyway).

The people you've reffered to in your last paragraph have most likely been suppressing those feelings (be it subconsciously or otherwise) for quite some time.

Are you trying to say that all us football fans hate football, is that the only conclusion you can come to because we don’t align our views with your own?
