Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

I`m still not convinced they wouldn`t have bottled it. A few weeks before it was stopped we had Carra trying to tell Roy Keane it was the greatest English team ever and Keano just said , well lets see what you win by the end of the season . This was followed by the greatest team of all time getting beaten twice by a fairly average Atletico doing a job on them , Chelsea beating them and Watford twatting them easily , they were a team in serious trouble at that point , definitely saved by the bell.

Oh yeah absolutely. Whatever happens the integrity of this season is shot. Say the season resumed they have had chance to avert the downward spiral of form and fatigue they were on. The whole thing is skewed now whatever happens.

Apparently the German government has given the green light for the league's concept. Restart on May 9th or 16th.

Without a doubt, the scousers will never admit it but they had shot their bolt.

Just to be sure, France didn't void their season. They have to decide on what to do with the final placings so there is still a chance that PSG may be declared winners with relegation and promotion.

I feel sorry for Bundesliga players, even with the level of testing in Germany this is likely to backfire.

Can you not comprehend that simply one decision of the FA which contains the sentence "current standings are final" would actually mean that we have won the league instead of being awarded it? They can basically decide it whichever way they want to.

Again, FULL DISCLAIMER that I'm not saying this is what will happen, but it's certainly an option that could be considered. So any talk of "cAn YoU nOt CoMpReHeNd ThAt" about such a scenario is equally bollocks.

so if Liverpool were ahead on goal difference, or by a point and City had a game in hand - do you think Liverpool should be gifted the title?

I don`t agree that the lead would have been bigger. Liverpool had just lost 4 of the last 5 games when the football finished and looked to be really struggling to me , mind you you could have had Michael Owens rose tinted glasses on from when Liverpool pumped Atletico 2-3 in fortress Anfield.

“they’ve never played against anything like this Liverpool team” it’s almost embarrassing we let him win the league with us!

But they still think they should just get it anyway. Mad bastards. Show some bloody class ffs!
It is mad cos deep down they will know they haven`t actually won one and were gifted it for getting close . They will still be desperate to win a proper one where there is no doubt as they`ve been close a few times now but slipped right at the end . My neighbour is a season ticket holder , 72 years old and even up to when the last game was played he wouldn`t celebrate , he always said to me if anyone can feck it up it is us , those were his words .

The voiding idea is ridiculous anyway. Sensible thing to do is what the Dutch have done and declare it unfinished no relegations no champions.

To think, Liverpool* might have had their lap of honour and open top parade by now.

What a shame.

*Just practicing.

If Liverpool are gifted the league It will always remind me of the scene in the Inbetweeners when Will is trying to hump Charlotte.

can’t remember exact words.

Will “did I lose my virginity, I think I did”
Charlotte “well I’m not going to count it

What if something disastrous occurs in any work?

This is a much bigger risk of catching the virus because unlike say, Tesco workers, these guys are actually kicking and spreading sweat and spit on each other.

Voiding is what the Dutch did though. Although that has turned out controversial because out of 36 clubs in the top 2 divisions 16 voted to have champions with relegation while only 9 voted against (others abstained) but the Dutch FA took the decision to void the season.

French FA have to decide how to judge the season.

They're fecking morons as far as I'm concerned. Crying over a title in the current context is weird to me. It'd the most hollow and pointless PL win anyway
Absolutely, it wouldn't be remembered fondly given the current situation.

The Premier League are too scared of the tv companies, they need to show some backbone. I think that's the only reason why we're still talking about restarting the season. People question the integrity of the league if they void it but I think they're trying to make too many compromises to restart it which also puts the integrity of it into question.

It`s quite funny that having no top level football is going to hurt the oil owners , the Glazers , Levy and fellas like Mike Ashley having to shell out wages .

Not to the extent that we were going to throw away the title from the position we were in though. That'd take a side which had lost twice in the PL over almost two seasons to suddenly lose 8 or 9 games. Everyone knows we had that league done and dusted (unofficially). Also City weren't winning all of their games.

I do agree with you though that any title win now would feel hollow. Seems a bit worthless to me at this point.

Yep, the next round of TV contracts is only a few years away and there is more company's in or entering the British market since the, dazn Amazon, Netflix will all possibly what some of the pie next time, or potentially launching a platform themselves.

I hope they introduce a streaming service for the Premier League in England. It's great in Canada through DAZN.

What were the odds of a global pandemic causing the entire world to grind to a halt?

it doesn’t matter that Liverpool are almost certainly going to win the league if the league played out. How far do you take it - I reckon the odds are greater than 50/50 that Man Utd would finish either 4th or win the Europa League - therefore we should be given a place in the CL?

I'm not saying that we should be awarded it, just that if things had carried on as normal we would've wrapped it up within 2/3 weeks.

This may well be a moot point now - but in terms of the contract issue - Plymouth only have 5 of their players under contract as at 30 June.

How can you even consider playing significantly past that date?

almost certainly you would have. No one is arguing that point that Liverpool winning the league was the most likely outcome. But of course we will never know.

If they could get the 3pm thing scrapped there they should launch there own service for that, or if they can't they should try it on over seas markets like ireland:angel:
I'm sure I read a post on here a few weeks ago that the 3PM non televised matches had been scrapped. Long overdue if true.

How'd they let themselves get into that situation? Only five players under contract beyond June seems ridiculous.

no not at all. It’s very common in the lower leagues. Clubs can’t afford to offer long contracts, very rare to see anything over 2 years. Most clubs will have a large % of their squad out of contract in the summer. Some will sign on again, but the turnover is massive.

I believe it was temporary.

it should be kept in place, protect the lower leagues. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?

Never knew that. I get the feeling that lower league clubs will be the hardest hit by all this.

The trouble is all options are a bit shit.

It would be amusing if Liverpool don't win the League when they were finally so close. It would be less funny if United missed out on the CL next season if City are reinstated. Promotion and relegation will be a bit of a disaster in every event, even if the season gets finished in a rush, as I think there is a danger of most teams with nothing to play for treating the last 8/9 games like they would the last game of a season.

definitely - I really hope there is a distribution of wealth. PL clubs, whilst it will be tough can cope without gate receipts, lower league teams can’t - and fans aren’t paying £10 a game to watch live streams of L1/ L2 matches. Clearly a few will, but not in any significant numbers to make up for lost revenue.

With people who have been tested as opposed to the thousands of untested that Tesco employees encounter. He was being ridiculous.

The "tests" mean little, it's all very political. I strongly doubt their level of accuracy in the first place. Besides one can be tested negative and still be carrying the virus if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think he's being ridiculous at all. Sport is in no shape or form essential, and it is far, far more risky than a grocery worker.
