Copa del Rey - 2017/18

Wow, after watching the game today, it's like you saw the future. Does this guy a reputation for being biased against Barca?

He is known for being awful, nothing to do with Barca. Remember how he robbed Sevilla when we were vs Barca (Medel sending off, Tiago's handball), every club in La Liga gets tortured by him at least once every season. Mateu Lahoz was also the referee between Italy vs Sweden; both teams got robbed of penalties, as expected. He just likes to steal the headlines.

Copa Del Rey semi final draw:

Barcelona vs Valencia

Leganes vs Sevilla

It'd be crazy to see Leganes get to the final. Nothing against Sevilla but I hope they make it!

He is known for not just being awful in general but routinely being permissive for rough play against Barcelona yet equating it to Sevilla having been singled out because of Medel's headbuttt and an incidental handball from Thiago? It's a nonsensical comparison

Cesc exaggerated no question but you've seen far worse from Diego Capel

"Headbutt" Poor Cesc couldn't finish the game - after the 90 minutes he did play, and manage to get on the scorsheet.

Well, Capel did pass by La Masia for a year.
I have seen far worse from Barca in general, yet completely irrelevant on the notion of Mateu Lahoz having a specific agenda towards Barca. He is just a poor referee who ruins for everyone.

If I may change the subject:
Your team is having an incredible season and the future looks even brighter, yet you are completely obsessed with trolling around. Are you incredibly bored with life or is your hate towards anything opposite of Barca bigger than your affection with the club...

Medel is always a red card waiting to happen as much as Cesc is someone every should want to headbutt

Not irrelevant to Lahoz but relevant to claiming the decision was somehow an example of being cheated, they weren't incorrect decisions but you might be right that it only feels this way because indeed he's just poor overall

Well I disagree, on the note that the decisions were correct; Medel's reputation aside, that was not even a slight headbutt or at least a proper movement that would suggest a headbutt. Both slightly leaned their heads on each other for half a second, and it rather looked like they were going to proceed to passionately kiss each other, before Fabregas took advantage of the situation. The handball - deliberate or not - was 'outside' of Tiago's body and stopped the ball going forward. Unfortunately the hand-rule is very confusing nowdays since it is down on how the referee interprets it. However, he looked at Tiago, as the ball movement was clearly obstucted by Tiago's hand...This part is probably my biased opinion, but what else could be hand if that is not a handball? We got Mateu Lahozed:lol:
Anyway, that was that game. Every year it is the same story with Lahoz. I cringe everytime Lahoz is the referee in a Sevilla game, because one of the teams will end up upset - which makes it a gamble, or both teams will be upset. Deportivo were robbed last year when we met them, after Lahoz refused to give them the most obvious penalty, and this was a game where he was calling a foul on everything. That non-penalty call changed the momentum to our favour. Many games later Lahoz was the ref in our game in the copa, and this time he screwed us over vs los merengues with convinient sensitive 50/50 situations given to the opponent (similar as Tiago's handball). Every year it is the same story with him, i.e. his inconsistencies during the game. And I have notice it is like that for every club when he is the ref.
Hell, he is even as inconsistent during the game at international level, as Italy vs Sweden.

Seville 1-1 against Leganes. Good away result for Montella's squad. Some of the football they played in the first half was sublime. Shame about Sergio Rico's cock up.

No Semedo for Barcelona, odd decision that but suspect he will play at La Mestalla. Los Che are without Guedes, Kondogbia, Garay and Murillo who have injuries

Barça's pressing looks like it's back in oldschool shape, Valencia have yet to attack 30 mins in.

Barca should be up 4-0, Valencia look like a third division team against Barca's pressure.

Marcelino clearly playing for the draw and Valverde still boring us with the 4-4-2 and zero width

They dominated possession but haven't created anything really so I would say no to a 4-0 up. The pressing has been really good tonight. I wish Semedo was playing instead of Vidal and Roberto was playing midfield, or at least switch Vidal with Coutinho.

Valencia is missing their most important player (Kondogbia), their best attacker (Guedes) and their CB partnership (Murillo + Garay). If Barca isn't winning at least with two goals difference, they messed up.

1-0 Suarez, assisted by Messi

Leo is unreal, he's deadly with the ball anywhere in the area

1-0 Barca FT. One of the most dominant displays i have seen from Barca in the last years. The game should have been over in the first half.

Shame Barca couldn't create more with all the possession they had. 1-0 isn't what I hoped but if they get one away goal next week the tie will be done. Valencia won't be able to park the bus as much as they did today.

Valencia bitching about the ref(as usual). Didn't see the game, do they have reason is that just valencia being valencia?

I literally fell asleep at halftime, I did not feel this was anywhere near a dominant performance even if they had most of the possession. Not a dirty game but uber defensive from Valencia but I suppose this was wise on Marcelino's part owing to injuries and Camp Nou. However, Sergi Roberto probably deserved red. Of course, I also thought Pereira should've already been off on bookings earlier

Valverde tries to artificially create wide channels against a deep block of 2 lines of 4 and leaves the middle for Messi but the inability to actually create any width and stretch the defense left the center congested and Messi could barely make any movements in dangerous areas. It was the most I have seen him moved around in some time, he was coming in from both the left & right, far too much responsibility on him. Deulofeu helped the team get 3 pts at the beginning of the season against a similar defensive setup with Betis so I struggle to understand why he was marginalized, at least he's a winger and we know Ousmane has been injured, unfortunately.

1-0, it's a win but it cannot be thought of as an advantage as there will surely be goals at the Mestalla in the deciding leg. Rumours Ousmane might be available, hope so

Barca get one away goal and the tie is pretty much over. Valencia won’t put three past this Barca squad and Valencia won’t be able to park the bus like they did today.

Deulofeu was horrible and absolutely brain dead. Outside of 1-2 good games on the season he was all speed but couldn’t pass or finish for squat.

It sucks because the team has no wingers right now and it’s killing our width. I hope coutinho starts in the next leg, as long he plays on the left he’ll be golden.

The match referee will be Mallenco which means rough play will not be punished by Los Che but agree that a single goal from Barcelona would make it a mountain for Valencia to climb - however for all of Barcelona's dominance in possession they only created a couple of good chances last night, with the goal coming late. Owing to how slow starting Valverde's side is, Marceliino will surely be looking to score early and raise the pressure in the match - if they double early, game would definitely become a tight affair to go searching for that goal

Say what you will about Deulofeu but he is a dangerous winger who helped Barcelona get points this season when others weren't able but yes, there is zero width in this team at the moment. Painful to watch

There's a reason why deulofeu is at Watford without any interest from any of his previous loan clubs and that's because he's shite

As for Barca being "painful to watch" Christ!!! My heart bleeds for you. What an awful chore it must be. Trying watching Everton 50 times a season

It's true you didn't create that much in the first half, but your pressing was something i hadn't seen for a while.

thanks. Fortunatly Leganes was rather average. I am scared what Barca could do to us. Hopefully the team surprises me in the final.
Everything can happen during a final. Of course, you are there for the taking on the paper, but who knows.

Very close from Rodrigo, I thought it was going in.

Is Iniesta almost playing like Pirlo now? Never saw him so back in the pitch.

Gomes bashing's almost starting, he's already on the worse stats of the players on the pitch.

Gomes could learn a lot of things from Paulinho, he thinks he's a baller, but he's better suited for a box-to-box midfielder

Does he think that? Strange, since his position in Benfica's academy and first team was #8. Only more recently did he start playing in the wings, apparently in Spain managers dig a lot of flat 4-4-2 with central midfielders on the wings.

Oddly enough, Valencia dropped their flat 4-4-2 (both Guedes and A.Pereira injured, Soler on the bench) for a diamond with Vietto playing as #10.
