Cop in America doing a bad job, again

2 on duty cops, one of which has the time to mess around with a loaded gun at an apartment with an off duty colleague. One dies.
Not a weird story at all :wenger:

Telling bit in that story is that even after they realised that it was his own car, they still trued to prosecute him on bogus charges. A common thread among all law enforcement agencies in most countries in the world, double down on your own mistake than own up and apologize.

Wasn't sure if i should post this here or in the entertainment thread, but just got finished watching "Let it fall" on Netflix. Excellent and very intriguing documentary on the LA riots. I recommend it because it's fairly unbiased and gives a voice and insight to all the different people involved. It does go a bit into the policing culture, practices, and politics during and leading up to that time. Was eye opening.

A member of Portland’s city council said Thursday a newspaper’s report that the commander for the police rapid response team exchanged friendly text messages with a leader of far-right protests that have rocked the city confirms collusion exists between some police and right-wing extremists.

“I am not shocked, and I am not surprised at today’s reporting of Lt. Jeff Niiya’s collaboration with Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson over text to provide aid and support for their hate marches,” Councilwoman Jo Ann Hardesty said in a statement.

Willamette Week obtained text messages through a public records request between Niiya and Gibson. The texts purportedly show Niiya had a friendly rapport with Gibson, frequently discussing Gibson’s plans to demonstrate.

In one text reported by the newspaper, Niiya tells Gibson that he doesn’t see a need to arrest his assistant, Tusitala Toese, who often brawls with antifascist protesters, even if he has a warrant, unless Toese commits a new crime.

Amazing, a cop wasn’t able to use the ‘feared for his life’ horseshit when he emptied a clip into a stranded motorist who was black. Even more amazing that a jury in Florida found the cop guilty. Not amazing at all that the last time a FL cop was found guilty of an on-duty killing was 1989 (cop was later acquitted in 1993).

Not going back to this racist bait are we? More white people are killed by police officers than any other race except the media ignores that

I might be going out a limb here but do you think that might be because.. there are more white people?

Yesterday a Kenyan guy was telling me that most of the people killed by Kenyan police were black. Kenya believe that?

Of course you are correct, that’s not a difficult stat to achieve.

I wasn’t trying to race bait, just stating the facts of the case. Race plays a role, creates a context.

Yep, land of the free y'all, as long as you do what we say, like what we say, look like us, buy what we tell you and worship what and how we say. And most importantly, never EVER question anything.

What a diseased fecked up country.

We don't really know what happened for the kid to be arrested, where I work a lot of the kids don't recite the Pledge and nobody cares.
