Cop in America doing a bad job, again

how the feck is he supposed to put his legs straight out and cross them? these cops are some of the stupidest motherfeckers around and yet we give them guns and let them do whatever they want to civilians

Same state a police woman shot and killed an old man after constantly tased the guy....nothing happened to her, I have no problem at all when police shoots and kills criminals who are dangerous and violent but not innocent people.

That’s messed up! Would like to see how the cop gets out of this one.

I was reading about the Ferguson Missouri USA case of the shooting of Michael Brown, that 18 year old guy and was gobsmacked at how stupidly and absolutely recklessly he behaved.

He and his friend robbed a store for cigars. When police were called, a police officer came in a car. Brown punched the officer numerous times through the officer's car window. He then attemped to turn the officer's gun on himself and tried to shoot the officer! What on earth was he thinking!?!? You try to shoot an officer, you think it's going to end well?

He then fled the scene. As he was running away, the officer got out of the car and said "Stop, stop, stop". Brown then turned around and charged at the officer with his fists. Witnesses said that, at that moment, they themselves felt that the officer was in danger. Keep in mind that before this, Brown had tried to shoot the officer with the gun. The officer only shot Brown after he turned around and charged at him. He had robbed a store prior to this, just minutes before.

Loads of eye witnesses lied as well, to get attention and to paint the police officer in a negative light. That "hands up don't shoot" thing was a lie. Things like this make it hard to sympathise with Brown and some others. You turn an officer's gun on himself and try to shoot him, you punch an officer numerous times through his car window, you think it's going to end well and that you're making things better?

What a reckless way to behave, and from an 18 year old lad. I was sat shaking my head reading that story. Do some of these young people not have any idea of the consequences of their actions? That xxxtentacion bloke's killer is another one. What a numpty.

chicago pd shot and killed a man in the back while he was running away. watch these videos and tell me that the police arent an occupying force in poor / minority communities who do far more harm than good

Yeah but apparently the man was exhibiting characteristics of an armed person

Christ, that’s quite a movement of goalposts recently. Used to be ‘fearful of one’s life’ that was used to justify cops killing citizens, now it’s a phrase as nebulous as ‘exhibiting characteristics...’

Reminds me of the Mesa cop recently who used the ‘displaying characteristics of someone about to fight’ argument to justify him landing enough blows to render the victim unconscious on his feet.

Doubt the female cop who cowardly killed the fleeing black man will receive anything but a paid vacation & a desk job until the current front blows over.

America is just an absolute shithouse country.

Teaching the Police that they operate above the law is only ever going to go one way.

...

It’s not systemic though. Cops have relatively little rights here. They can’t even search you without a good reason.
Yeah, that's kind of old news since Pulp Fiction was released.

He was very much armed

Not only armed but trying to draw his gun when he got shot.

US cops get enough shit for their heavy-handed policing as it is, so seems only fair to cut them some slack when an escalation was justified. Wild West shoot-outs like this are inevitable so long as America has bat-shit laws that allow people to carry concealed handguns. And you can’t blame cops for being quick on the draw when so often in scenarios where it’s kill or be killed. Which seems to be the case here.

Illinois is a concealed carry state so being armed was not illegal. Theres no audio on that video but from the way he reacts it sure seems like the first shot is in the back while running away.

Compare the reactions to a white man in this video

While reaching for his gun, more like.

That other video is a completely different scenario, so not really comparable.

Like I said, American police are often ridiculously heavy-handed. And it certainly looks like POC are more likely to be the brunt of excessive force than white people. But looking for prejudiced behaviour in every incident is counterproductive IMO.

Fair enough, the Chicago cops did what their training taught them at what appears to be a critial moment. Audio would definitely help understand the situation, though, &, like VAR, the slowing down of the video allows for more to be seen more clearly.

On what looks like a residential street, with traffic on it. Hopefully both were fired on the spot and arrested for being complete fecking idiots.

What the feck is he doing sending rounds down the street?

 Guys... this officer is gonna end up getting a medal from the City of Las Vegas.

“When you look at that video you get a clear picture of what officers were dealing with,” said Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly. “In my opinion they showed bravery and heroics we come to expect from our officers.”

Police say Miranda and Nunez were well-armed and suspected in a homicide from just two hours prior to the pursuit. They had reportedly shot and killed a man at a car wash at Eastern and Searles.

According to Sheriff Kelly, LVMPD policy allows officers to pursue and even fire at fleeing suspects if there is imminent danger to others.

“The officer could have backed off but he didn't,” Sheriff Kelly said. “He stuck with it knowing what he was dealing with.”

On this one I agree with the cops...they were literally being shot at on a public road. I'm not sure what else the cop was supposed to do.

You wouldn't be agreeing if you or someone you knew caught a stray bullet. It's a tough one, I'd say maybe drop back and set something up ahead in a less dangerous area. I'm no cop tho...

I am surprised police don't play a bigger role in gun control advocacy. Imagine being an officer in a country armed to the teeth?
I'm not defending the cnuts, but the prevalence of guns can't be helping.
