Tsk tsk Conte. Entering into gentleman's agreements with Levy.
Unlike Harry he can quit though.Tsk tsk Conte. Entering into gentleman's agreements with Levy.
At least they sacked mourinho. We're giving another mourinho mk2 500m, 3 years and keys to the castle
I don't have to remind you that we also sacked Mourinho? Jesus.
So apparently he asked for a huge transfer budget already in January. Isnt Levy known for being a cheapskate?
I mean he didnt give Poch nor Nuno a lot of money, will he start splashing it now with Conte?
Conte tends to leave with a bang if he doesnt get the exact players he wants. He simply has to - the amount of money the club loses from not getting Champions League football is enormous so we need to spend big to ensure we get there every season. No doubt, Conte would only agree to come to Spurs if he had a guarantee he has money to spend.

I don't know about that. Over the last decade, he has managed Juventus, Italy, Chelsea and Inter. The only one who can remotely be called an underdog is Inter, and they were no more an underdog than we are at the moment. He started managing very young, and his earlier jobs were obviously just to learn the trade. He clearly didn't go to the likes of Arezzo and Bari with any notions of elevating them to astonishing heights any more than Rooney did when he took the Derby job. So in the "serious" part of his managerial career, Conte has managed exclusively top clubs and the national team of a country that has always been ranked amongst the best.
It's a great job for Conte. Big money, short-term contract and everyone knows they don't have a Top4 squad + their greatest player ever scored just once in 9 games. Clearly Conte has greater ambitions than Spurs and the worst case scenario is he moves to one of Seria A teams this summer or next. You probably don't wanna end up in a position like Blanc when clubs forgot you even exist.
I think his asperity as a person is catching up to him. None of the really huge clubs outside of Italy would hire him so Spurs it is.I find it hard to imagine what Conte would be getting out of this. He's not likely to challenge the big 3 on Spurs' budget, he's already facing a little gap towards fourth place, there is a question mark behind Kane's motivation and in general I feel like outside of the CL he has nothing left to prove.
Watching yet another good manager go to our rivals while we are too busy trusting the process nonsense. No words.
If they can convince Kane he is still a footballer - or even sell him for a good profit and then replaced him with Vlahovic and a few other players he wants to shape his squad, they could be heading back to competitive.
Their squad isn't as bad as people make out, probably a few defensive reinforcements needed mainly.
You missed the part of my initial post where I clearly stated, Conte does the job with money. He can demand that by his reputation/ risking his reputation: jumping into jobs like this in the first place. As seen with other jobs, spending money alone doesn't guarantee you successes, especially when your rivals (in PL) can also spend too to keep the pace, and they were considered in better position to begin with.Inter weren't an underdog either. They were being bankrolled by Chinese money when he was there and were spending big. The article below shows that he was the third highest spending manager in football across his stints at Chelsea and Inter.

When he took over Juventus was far from what they used to be until he himself ended their dominance. They were even struggling to get CL football regularly. They were the teams that not only bin diving for free agents, but also loaning players to get by with the lack of quality in the squad. You told anyone back hen when Conte took over Juventus that they're gonna win Serie A back to back from then until 2020, they would think you're crazy.
Everyone keep dreading about the Mourinho aftermath mess, yet Conte took over from Mourinho's meltdown mess at Chelsea, and didn't need 3+ years of rebuild! Setting some records back then too. The majority of that squad, and part of that starting XI soon would see their career approaching the declining part of their career.
Italy failed to make out of the group in WC 2014. Conte did well for a transition period until he left after EURO 2016. Pelle, Eder, Parolo, Giaccherrini. Those guys had a tournament of their life and pretty much soon to disappear. They didn't have great club career to begin with. Then Italy even failed to qualify for World Cup 2018! I don't know who rank Italy as one of the best back then, but it's pure bs. Italy NT job is exclusive to Italian coaches and it's very pressing cooking environment with the unrealistic pressure with not always near enough adequate quality to actually achieve the unrealistic expectation. It's considered a bold move for a young manager (back then) to take the risky Italy NT job. Only in the past 2 years, they're entering a good cycle of having a better balanced squad with good players (but soon they would have issue with their aging backline and no good forward have always been an on going issue).
You have tunnel vision on the names, but missing all the context even with the benefit of hindsight.
