Conte | Spurs Manager

Sorry, are we talking about what is the situation today or 5 years ago?
You’re talking as if Conte would guarantee trophies. We’re saying that exact argument was made when we hired Jose. To which you replied it’s different because he’s just won a league...except it isn’t because so had Jose. It’s not difficult - the parallels are pretty obvious.

Of course Jose was on the slide - everybody in here was very quick to confirm this to me as soon as he signed for Spurs. You cant compare Jose of today with Conte of today.

Why not? Also when Jose signed for spurs it was 4 years after his last title win not 1.

So why can we not compare Conte to Jose? Jose won the PL a year before.

You can compare them of course - my point is you cant compare them today because clearly Conte is on top of his game and Jose isn't. Jose coming into Spurs was not on the back of huge success at Utd - Conte coming into Spurs now is very different and is on back of a league win. I'm a Spurs fan so I'm looking at it from a Spurs perspective. Not saying Conte is guaranteed to win anything at Spurs but he is a much more solid bet now than Jose was for us.

Yes from a Utd perspective sure - I'm looking at it from a Spurs perspective though.

Conte be great appointment. Demanding coach and may well get best out of some of that spurs squad. Change of system. Loves the use of wing backs and 2 upfront. Kane fee may help him bring in 2 or 3 players he wants.

I think Conte's an absolutely brilliant manager, but in my opinion this Spurs team is just too far away from a good side for him to do anything with before his inevitable departure.

Fair enough.

That's only if Levy gives Conte what he wants, he threatened to leave Inter last year too.

I will be honest, his signings are not the most inspiring either.

Yeah I agree with that - that is why I'm excited though because no way will Conte agree to come if he hasn't already got an agreement from Levy that he will be backed heavily.

Bit annoyed he might go Spurs. They were kind of fecked with no real manager to choose from but then suddenly Conte becomes available and it worked out perfectly for them.

we don’t need to worry about spurs just because they might appoint Conte.

Will be fun seeing him in the prem again. I don't think he will do much better than Mourinho at Spurs though.

I'm not worried, just annoyed. They might have had to settle for a mediocre manager as the pool was so thin. Now they're getting a good one.

If they do get him, he won’t be there long. Firstly I don’t think it’s a good match at all, and secondly he will walk away when a bigger club comes along.

Lots of talk about this now - apparently we are also in talks to bring in Paratici as DOF also which is absolutely fantastic news - we have needed a DOF for years.

Wonder how Arsenal fans feel seeing their two London rivals appointing top class managers whilst they’re stuck with an amateur like Arteta. And all the managers they’ve been calling for in recent months (Ancelloti, Conte, Allegri) will have been scooped up so when things inevitably go wrong at the start of next season and they sack him there won’t be anyone available.

Conte would be ridiculous appointment, guy is relentless when it comes to improving and winning.

Lukaku to Spurs with the Kane money.

Yeah, if Spurs sell Kane, they can use the money to get Lukaku and have a bit of change left over. They will need another CB, CM and AM to play his 343 though.

Would be weird given how demanding he is in the transfer market and how he quits whenever that isn't supported. Great manager, but he need a Man City type chairman, not Levy who won't splash the cash ever.

I'm so excited at the prospect - never in a million years did I think we could get somebody like Conte in - he is also one manager who's appointment 'might' convince Kane to give us another year.

That's an incredible appointment by Spurs if they get it over the line.

I have no idea what Conte is thinking, but his record speaks for itself and if Spurs can back him in some way - they might actually win a trophy.

Why would Lukaku step down from a title winning Inter to go to Spurs who have no hope of competing for the biggest trophies?

Jose was on the slide? I mean he won the title 2 seasons before that.

Love how people also gloss over the fact he got knocked out the CL completely. Not 3rd.. bottom of the table.
Mourinho went to Spurs after being crap for us and being even worse for Chelsea in his last season there.

Conte has won 5 league titles in 7 years and is one of the best managers on the planet. Which makes this link all the more strange, given it's Spurs and they have no money, and he keeps winning league titles and seems to be ambitious.

money and he no longer has a manager pandering to him. He’s only won one trophy in his career, so perhaps it’s not that important to him. The answer is money, he’s a journeyman.

He may be using Spurs as a stop-gap like what he did with his national team after leaving Juve.

His track record isn't great.
- Joined Juventus in May 2010 as Sporting Director and Head of Technical Areas
- Became Juventus's Chief Football Officer
- Juventus went unbeaten in the league in 2011-12 under Paratici and Conte
- Juventus won nine consecutive Serie A titles from 2011-12 to 2019-20 under Paratici
-
Signed players including Pogba (free transfer, sold for £94m), Vidal (£11m, sold for £35m), Immobile (£2.4m, sold for £12m), Morata (£18m, sold for £27m), Bonucci (£13m, sold for £38m), Pjanic (£28m, sold for £54m), Cancelo (£36m, sold for £59m), as well as the likes of De Ligt, Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo and Higuain.

Looks fine to me.

I am sure Conte will improve Spurs even if their transfer season is not going to be that great. This man is a winner and his CV speaks for itself. The prem is going to be very tough next season.

Ole will have a lot of tests next season

Italian football people mainly seem to say that Beppe Marotta was the more influential director behind all of this success, not Paratici, and that the club went downhill as soon as Marotta left.
