Conte | Spurs Manager

I think the summer will be crucial. If Spurs arent prepared to spend huge he'll feck off to another club. Juve, PSG maybe, Newcastle even, etc

Conte needs to be backed to win, back him and he will bring success

He's definitely gone by the summer, Newcastle could be a great shout though

This team is mediocre at best. Perisic, Lenglet, Bissouma all average signings. They need better.

Managers is a funny one . Cruyff says United had Guardiola 'aligned' to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 - but appointed David Moyes instead. We interviewed Klopp etc. So we may have appointed Conte instead of holding out for ETH. Timing is a wonderful thing. Conte is a good manager there is no gloating on my part but we can be happier with ETH style.

There's no creativity in this team - it's been the case since Eriksen left. Kane's picked up the slack for a few years, with Son taking over as the main goalscorer.

Son can't buy a goal and it's left Kane way too much to do.

Conte with Newcastle [provided theyll open the purse more] is a solid option. Same with PSG, if he went there, he'd probably win them the CL tbh

Given his Champions League record, I wouldn’t bet on it
true, but i think he'd just about do it, if he is given the players he wants. Was part of the reason it went bad with us, he wanted VVD, Lukaku and i forget the others, and was of the opinion VVD was almost signed. Ended up with grade B and C players and stropped. Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Zappacosta etc

He'd have M'bappe and Neymar playing wingback though;)

If I didn't think the way he was treated at Arsenal was a bit of a disgrace, I'd fire a Good Ebening Meme in here.

Back when he became Spurs manager we had so many fans on here moaning about our board not going for Conte. I did think Spurs were getting quality manager because he is, but there were always some risks with him.

Don't think he'll be at Spurs beyond May. Poch coming back there is possible.

I don't get why people say Newcastle would want him? Newcastle would be smart to not go that direction if / when Howe goes

Massive missile dodged. Never wanted him here even when last year things were going downhill.

Glad this got bumped, hope people can admit he wasn't right for us.

Mourinho experience made our board suspicious about Conte and think that was major reason why they didn't go for him. Which makes Spurs' decision even more wrong in hindsight.

Right hands up who wanted him here?
I did. Felt like a perfect opportunity once we sacked Ole as the team was all over the place and Conte is a proven winner. Still think he's a top coach but not for United. Really happy we went for ETH.

He's a good coach but you only need to look at his stint at Chelsea to see why there isn't mileage.

And that was a club with unlimited resources and a structure in place.

So many people here wanted Conte. Short term-ism at its best.

I never wanted him near United, he's toxic and his football is outdated.

Where is @balaks ?

They were talked about as title contenders before the season. Everyone praised their summer business.

They miss Kulu and should bid a team around him and potential earnings from shipping off Kane.

Nothing wrong with getting Conte as an interim before moving on to ETH. Would have likely gotten us Top 4, which is easily worth £30M after accounting for Conte's termination / golden handshake. That would have allowed us to bring in 1 more target.

Probably too Machiavellian for some though.

Think they turned a few loans perm and signed Perisic? They spent money though
Signed Perisic, Bissouma, Djed Spence, Richarlison, turned Romero permanent which was 42 mil according to sky sports.

same article says they spent 172 million on transfers this summer, and made back 28.9 through sales.

You really believe this club would have told Conte to feck off after getting top four?

Was it Micah Richards who got quite heated towards Neville over the clubs decision not to go for Conte? Looks a great decision from the club now.

Pretty sure it was Jaime Redknapp after the Brentford game.

They're both got an heated argument about the owners and Redknapp mentioned we had to get Conte
